The Blade soundtrack matches up with expectations for the film pretty well: there are a few artists who have done some consistently good work, most of whom seem to be slumming it here (KRS-One, Gang Starr); there are a couple trying to change their image and prove that they can be relevant in another context (New Order); there's a completely unexpected appearance by someone you'd completely forgotten about (Mantronik); and there are plenty of forgettable turns by wannabes, could-bes, and should-bes (Mystikal, Kasino, P.A.). The album finally picks up toward the end, with Mantronik's club-hopping EPMD remix, New Order's techno turn, Expansion Union's dance track, and DJ Krush's lounge vibe. --Randy Silver

For years, the soundtrack to Blade Runner held legendary status among fans of Greek synthesist Vangelis. Except for a few cuts on the Themes compilation, it had never been released on vinyl or CD, although there was an orchestral version of the score. But in 1994, 22 years after Vangelis composed the dark, edgy soundtrack to director Ridley Scott's archetypal science fiction thriller, the music of Blade Runner came out in all its cybernoir glory.

Vangelis couched his electrosymphonic score in percussive rhythms and shadowed timbres. Effectively interpolating dialogue from the film, the CD moves from the threatening tension of "Blush Response" to the ethereal wordless vocal of Mary Hopkin over a water-drop synthesizer sequence on "Rachel's Song." A few tracks, notably "Love Theme" with Dick Morrisey's smarmy saxophone solo, drip with Hollywood sentimentality, but Vangelis quickly wipes that away with the hyperdrive of "Blade Runner (End Titles)." --John Diliberto

5 out of 5 stars Stellar music for a Stellar classic.......2007-06-13

Vangellis' haunting score sets the background and mood
for this distopic world perfectly!

5 out of 5 stars Sciencefiction as it should always be!!!!!!!!.......2007-05-13

A remarkable example of a soundtrack that fits like a glove to the movie it accompanies!!!!!!

5 out of 5 stars Great Music.......2007-05-12

I have been looking for the original soundtrack to Blade Runner for years,I even recorded the love theme from the movie I had on tape. I was sure thrilled to see it was available on CD years later. The "Love Theme" is my favorite. "Rachel's Song" and "Blade Runner" are my next two favorites. The tape recorded version was very hissy and full of noises, but the CD is so crystal clear, and an extended version of total perfection. Vangelis is great, and this CD is a masterpiece.

5 out of 5 stars Blade Runner (Movie Soundtrack).......2007-02-14

A great selection for all Vangelis and Blade Runner fans. I've been trying to dig out my old cassette version to compare the playlists, but have not yet reached the proper depth. One might want to do that to ensure that they will be ordering the product they remember from the past.

5 out of 5 stars It only gets better with age.......2006-12-21

This is the Origin of Vangelis's reputation. Blade Runner.
Vangelis succeeded in delivering a prefect album, no other could have fitted better for a movie like Blade Runner.
Forgetting the movie, the music in this album is simply: Fresh and relaxing with a mixture of arabic singing in some of the tracks.
You don't need to be into any kind of specific genre to appreciate the music on this album. Vangelis uses all mixtures here; voices, horns, drums, keyboards and more, delivering one of nicest relaxing soundtrack I have heard.
I personally own all Vangelis's music but this one is my favorite.
A 5 star CD for a 5 star movie.
Other great Vangelis music:
1. Oceanic
2. El Greco
Other great Soundtrack:
1. Kingdom of heaven

3 out of 5 stars Good Hip-Hop & Techno Showcase from the Film.......2007-06-04

Blade I soundtrack--
Released on TVT Recordings, the non-score-based soundtrack to the Wesley Snipes action/horror vehicle features a lineup of half hip-hop/rap acts and half techno/electronica artists. The standout cuts include "½ & ½" by Gang Starr & MOP; No Limit Soldier Mystikal's "The Edge of the Blade"; the title track by KRS One and Channel Live; "Confusion" by New Order and "Wreck the DiscoTek" by Roger S. Most curious of all is a house-flavored remix of EPMD's "Strictly Business" by Kurtis Mantronik. The critical and commercial response to this album was mixed; based on certain music message boards, it is surprising that so many techno/dance music fans are glaringly against hip-hop (and vice-versa), since the former genre essentially laid the seeds for the latter. But what could have made for a better compilation would be to have the hip-hop/rap artists team up with the techno/dance producers/artists, and come up with some interesting fusions, like what would happen on the "Blade II" soundtrack.

5 out of 5 stars Did you read the CD Before you bought it?.......2004-12-30

Everyone who rated this album poorly clearly state they aren't into Rap or Hip-Hop. That's fine, but did they read the back of the CD to see who was on it? If you didn't know that Mystikal was rap and not techno then you shouldn't have rushed out to the store and bought the cd.

It is Inspired by the movie, with Wesley Snipes' oversight.
Some tracks, such as Gangsta Bounce, are so fabulous you'll be very disappointed when you can't find anything else by them.
With vocals about the supernatural, good vs evil, and fat beats, you can't go wrong.

With the addicting New Order's song Confusion also on the track waiting to get you hooked, to Junkie XL, this is one album that's truely Dealing with the Roster, with style.

The cd can appeal to those of us who have a wider variety of taste instead of "just" Techno or "just" rap.

5 out of 5 stars From the wonderful thoughts of The one and only, Music Tyke.......2004-04-30

Yo, I like the tracks. I mean, yeah, some of what I WANTED wasn't on the CD but I'm one of the go getters who doesn't mind searching for what I want. I like the CD for what it is. It is a rather well compiled cd of Techno and Rap. Not a lot of people could have pulled that off. My favorite tracks are 4, 6, 7, and 11-15. I especially love Tracks 12 and 14. Very nice. All of you that want to dis, thats fine. You feel you wasted your money, ha, well next time, go to amazon and sample the songs before you buy it.

1 out of 5 stars Bad stuff........2004-02-20

Rap. That's what you will get out of this soundtrack. Unfortunately I wasted my money, not only on this CD, but the Blade II CD as well! Take it from me folks, if you don't like rap, don't buy this! It is total junk! Considering the movie was very good, the soundtrack is absolutely AWFUL!!!!!!!!!

4 out of 5 stars get this for the DJ Krush track.......2003-11-20

I bought this cd thinking there was going to be more techno on it. That dissappointed me but now that I am more into hip-hop the first part of this cd really isn't that bad. It has some decent rapping on it but the gem on this album is the DJ Krush track. That song is worth the whole cd. If I'm correct, I don't think his track on this soundtrack appears on any of his albums and it is one of his best tracks. The techno section in my opnion gets old quicker than the hip-hop section of it, minus the DJ Krush cut. Not a bad cd but if your expecting all the techno that was in the movie, this album is not for you because only 1/4th of the album is techno. I still recommend it though.

The rap-rock-electronic collaboration has become a mainstay of the industry. Yet as cool as it is to hook up artists from disparate genres, sometimes these fusions look better on paper than they actually sound. Not so this project, which finds A-list rappers (Busta Rhymes, Bubba Sparxx, Rah-Digga, et al.) joining forces with topnotch electronica heavyweights like Crystal Method and Roni Size. There's much to dig here, but there are a few glaring missteps. Witness "Cowboy," in which the flamboyance of Fat Boy Slim's rubbery funk only underscores Eve's lyrical weaknesses. Also iffy is "Getting Aggressive," which reduces Mystikal to background noise underneath Moby's intrusive onslaught of rhythm. Better balance is found on Mos Def and Massive Attack's intense cover of Bad Brains' "I Against I"; a ghetto-fab but gritty partnership between Jadakiss, Fabolous, and Danny Saber; and Gorillaz and Redman's giddy "Gorillaz on My Mind." Credit everyone involved for delivering a soundtrack album that is much more than tie-in product. --Amy Linden

4 out of 5 stars The only problem with an album like this..........2006-07-06

...is that if the techno beat don't compliment the lyrical flow it's a complete disaster. Now this is the case on a few of these tracks, but I will say that for the most part this album is a success. The key track here would have to be Ice Cube & Oakenfold's 'Right Here, Right Now' which is the finest track on the album, flowing perfectly. Other standouts include the Mos Def & Massive Attack fused 'I Against I' and 'PHDream' by Bubba Sparxxx & The Crystal Method. The few tracks I spoke of that fall flat are Eve & Fatboy Slim's version of 'Cowboy' which is much worse than Eve's album version, and even that version is mediocre at best...and there's Redman & Gorillaz song 'Gorillaz on my Mind' which is just plain annoying. For the most part this album fits, but there are a few reasons to change tracks. I will say that at least the album stands out better than the lackluster film did.

1 out of 5 stars RE: Missing Track.......2005-05-07

The club scene song is actually Voodoo and Serano's Blood is Pumpin'. You may be right about the fight scene, but that is the name of the song for the club scene. They have their own disk which is really good, I own it:) And you can find Blood is Pumpin' on a number of compulations as well. I hope this is helpful to anyone that likes that song as much as I do although I knew about the song before it was in Blade 2.

2 out of 5 stars The missing track.......2005-01-29

Like other reviewers I liked a lot of the music from the film. but having listened to samples of the album I couldn't find that one stunning track that was used in the film (night club or fight scene ?). So I didn't buy it :(

Have since found the track though, it's called Clubbed to Death by Rob Duggan - Fantastic. :)

2 out of 5 stars I own it, but not a huge fan.......2004-12-22

Like most, i was looking for the more electronic side, and most the music on the album has nothing to do with the movie. Everyone wants to know the song from the club scene, but im curious as to what the song from the big fight scene is? any help?

2 out of 5 stars Rap & Rock.......2004-10-20

This cd sux. I am a fan of almost everybody on this cd but the only good tracks are Marco's blade theme and I against I from Mos Def and Massive attack.

3 out of 5 stars The other one is better!.......2006-11-30

I like the other CD better - the original soundtrack with all the vocals fromt he movie. It's a much more wholistic experience. I like that is is more undustrial - the way the movie is. It's sexy and entertaining.
I recommend the original!

5 out of 5 stars better than the other version in my opinion.......2006-10-31

This is exactly what I have been looking for because the music doesn't include the narration that exists in the other available Blade Runner CD. This version is definitely my personal preference because it is much more like my old vinyl LP, which is what I really wanted. The music is great too, but I am happier with this version than the other I purchased several years ago.

4 out of 5 stars Imaginative And Accessible Pop-Oriented Adaptation.......2006-03-13

Vangelis' original recordings for the 1982 sci-fi thriller became mired in legal squabblings and were ultimately not released until years later. In the meantime a secondary source of the film's music was produced, using a conventional orchestration rather than the heavily synthesized sound that is Vangelis' trademark. The result is a warm, rich, highly accessible album that is by turns brilliant and imaginative.

While purists may scoff at an adaptation of an original film soundtrack, there is no doubt that this album accurately reproduces the original soundtrack's epic sweep, from the heavily-orchestrated, dense soundscapes delineating Los Angeles of the future, to the sparse, spare, jazz-based themes of the principal characters Deckard and Rachel. Further, while many of the cuts created by Vangelis for the film are simply incidental material used to background the visual action, the adaptations are extrapolated musically to produce coherent compositions that are musically whole.

The soloists featured in 'Blade Runner Blues', 'Rick And Rachel', and 'Memories Of Green' know their jobs and perform them well. The songs are sentimental and pop-oriented, but hardly insipid, and provide a more intimate interpretation of music that was never fully realized in the film.

The film itself is mired in controversy over its theatrical edit, which has been superceded in recent years by the so-called Director's Cut. This soundtrack adaptation is probably more accurately representative of the film as it was originally presented in theatres, than the re-release with its heavy dose of film-noir pessimism and ambiguity.

I enjoy both versions of the film, and I enjoy both versions of the soundtrack. Afficionados of the film and its music should have both copies in their collections.

5 out of 5 stars Simply Beautiful.......2004-05-21

I dont know about anyone else but I have listened to both versions of the Blade Runner soundtrack.... and love them both. My favorite is this one though. "Memories of green" on this CD evokes an emotional response that Vangelis' CD never could. If you are a Blade Runner fan and love classical music, then this will surely please you.

5 out of 5 stars Yes, it is just as good..........2004-02-10

Do you know how some times you feel like reaching in and slapping people on the Internet? Well, that is how I feel when I read all the criticism of this CD. You "purists" out there than lambasted this album need to go get a grip on yourselves, it is a damn good soundtrack! For those of us that were around in 1982, it was the only soundtrack available for this great movie and I bought it on cassette (remember those?!?) after seeing Blade Runner. The music mesmerized me, I don't know how but it equaled the impact that the movie had on me. Back then we didn't know that Vangelis was having a hissy fit and wouldn't release his version of these songs for another dozen years. No, we were grateful for the wonderful music that was a part of this magnificent film.

OK, I'll admit I was overjoyed when the Vangelis version came out...I actually picked mine copy up in Sarajevo, Bosnia! Yes, it too is a wonderful piece of work, and one I have listened to over and over again. I do like the voice overs from the movie, much like I liked the original (non-director's cut) of the film. I also liked that the Vangelis version had more songs on it. But does that mean I no longer like the New American Orchestra version. Hell no! If you truly loved the music from this great film, then buy both! You will not be disappointed in either. We are actually very fortunate to have both on CD, here are two different but excellent soundtracks for one of the best science fiction movies ever made. They are relatively cheap and I assure you that you will get your money's worth out of both.

This excellent Daniel Lanois score casually mixes and matches genres, sliding from back-porch picking ("Jimmy Was") to cranked fusion guitar ("Orange Kay"). Also present are a crew of intriguing debutantes, including singer Bambi Lee Savage and a Robbie Robertson-like singer named Tim Gibbons. --Jeff Bateman

Love the movie soundtrack. Hard to find in mint condition. Amazon had it available and shipped super fast.

5 out of 5 stars Good Music.......2005-10-19

I think the score is great. It has that mystical quality which matches the theme of the movie. The movie is one of the best and the sound track likewise.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing Album.......2003-12-19

Not very descriptive I know, so I apologize. But simply put, this is an amazing, ethereal and haunting album. Absolutely fantastic.

1 out of 5 stars sling blade.......2003-09-16

WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE CD, WAS TO ME NOTHING LIKE THE MUSIC IN THE MOVIE. I LOOKED SO FOWARD TO GETTING IT BECAUSE OF LOVING THE MOVIE SO MUCH. THIS CD SOUND TRACK SOUNDS LIKE IT WAS AN AFTER THOUGHT AFTER THE MOVIE WAS MADE. NOW IM STUCK WITH IT.

5 out of 5 stars A reawakening.......2003-08-08

I bought this CD after the film first came out, so taken was I by the extraordinary magic it evoked. Then I lost it - until last week, in August 2003, when I found it again, and am even more impassioned not only by Lanois' originality and skill, but the brilliant way he crosses and mixes genres. Being from Quebec and living in Mexico, I suddenly felt a connection with my homeland - the only part of Canada that, like Mexico, has a patron saint: Jean Batiste, the hero of "The Maker". This CD, like the movie, is wonderful...energetic, soulful, tender, and above all, "musical" in the true sense of the word. Linda

4 out of 5 stars Six Decades of Film Music.......2007-05-13

This is film music for the classical music lover. The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra presents excellent arrangements of a number of classic film themes (although several pieces of the 56 film classics selected for this 4 CD set are not orchestral arrangements, but rather specialty arrangements). Besides great film composers such as John Williams, Elmer Bernstein, Ennio Morricone, and James Horner, classical composers such as Richard Strauss and Pietro Mascagni make an appearance. On several of the numbers the Crouch End Festival Chorus adds the human voice to the power of the full symphonic orchestra to create true movie magic. If you like the sound of a full symphony orchestra playing some of the most recognized themes ever written, you'll love these CDs.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent collection with fine performances.......2007-03-28

Silva Screen Records, based in England, has been issuing some fine collections of film scores, more in one box than we have the right to expect. This four-CD box contains scores by many of the best writers, including Max Steiner, Bernard Herrmann, Dimitri Tomkin, Kenneth J. Alford (The Bridge on the River Kwai), Elmer Bernstein, Maurice Jarre, Ennio Marricone, John Barry, Nino Rota, John Williams, James Horner, and more. We can all think of additional film scores we wished were included, but then there's no way this collection could be all-inclusive. The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, supplemented by Crouch End Festival Chorus on some numbers, does a very competent job...The liner notes give the basic information without any commentary, and as far as I can see, contain only one error. Am I wrong or are tracks 9 and 10 on the fourth CD mislabeled? Track 9, which runs 7:33, seems to have the excitement of "Pirates of the Caribbean" (which I did not see) and track 10, which runs 4:22, the more sedate "The Girl with the Pearl Earring (which I also did not see). Listings seem to have them reversed.

5 out of 5 stars "essential film scores from 1939 to 2004 ~ Incredible Music".......2005-05-16

When I think of the "Golden Age" of Hollywood, many composers come to mind...you gave the usher your ticket in the theater and sat down, knowingly you were going to get your moneys worth...when the curtain opened and you heard those first few notes...you sat back, watched and listened as the film score and orchestra worked their magic...now we have the ultimate from Silva Screen Classics "The Incredible Film Music Box", featuring a four disc set of the essential film scores of the past 60 years...covering several decades from 1939 through and up to the present 2004

There are compilations and then there are "Compilations" beginning with a classic that even the youngsters today recognize "GONE WITH THE WIND" (1939) (Max Steiner), sweeping score that captures the tragic history of the South during the Civil War, one great cue after another, it doesn't get any better than this, nominated by the Academy for Best Original Score...and closing on Disc 4 with "THE INCREDIBLES" (2004) (Michael Giacchino), the big hit in computer animation from Walt Disney & Pixar that once again pit Super-Heroes against the forces of evil...our family of five Supers prove crime doesn't pay, but box-office receipts do...gotta love it!

Silva Screen Classics as usual, has put quality into this 4-CD-Set featuring The City Of Prague Philarmonic Orchestra and the Crouch End Festival Chorus conducted by Kenneth Alwyn, Bill Ashton, Paul Bateman, James Fitzpatrick, Mario Klemens, Derek Wadsworth, and Nic Raine. Recorded in "Dolby Surround" with the new technology of "HDCD", this is a "film-score-buffs" dream, one to treasure now and years to come.

Some selections are missing, but when you think of what Silva has included, it is impossible to please everyone...was happy to see "TOUCH OF EVIL" (1958) from composer Henry Mancini, as I feel this composer deserves all the recognition that has been overlooked recently in the music world...This collection is aimed directly at the "Serious Film Score" music fans and collectors...Silva is as always, perfect in every way...just the way we like 'em!

5 out of 5 stars This was a fantastic cd!.......2005-09-11

To answer a previous question to whats the song on the blade trinity trailer. The song is called Weapons of Mad Distortion by The Crystal Method. Its actually on the cd....this was my favorite song. Definitely a cd to have...it has great music. To whoever buys it, they will enjoy it.

5 out of 5 stars Couldn't have been better..........2005-04-28

Unlike what some may think who are opposed to hip hop, this soundtrack features one of the co-composers' for some of the most well known tracks from the movie- The RZA. Plus a couple more good hip hop tracks and some killer techno and metal. "Fatal" being the best track, and everything else superb. If you liked the movie you will love the soundtrack!

5 out of 5 stars Awesome.......2005-01-02

As expected for an action movie, the soundtrack is fast-paced and all the music gets you pumped. I love it and the range of music on it, all of it is simply awesome. There is plenty of electronic and rap on there for everyone to enjoy

3 out of 5 stars Can we please get over this hip-hop phase?.......2004-12-26

As usual, for a horror action movie, the soundtrack the is the predictable mix of dance/techno/whatever you call it tracks and hip-hop/rap/whatever you call it tracks. The dance/techno tracks on this album are excellent. The Crystal Method track is a stand out, as is the Black Lab track, but the rest are also impressive, and best experienced at high volume just as they were in the movie. Why people insist on pushing this hip-hop/rap garbage on us is still a mystery. It's terrible music, and when the dance/techno music fits the mood so well it's a wonder they don't just fill the soundtrack/movie with that style and ignore the try-hard home boys. If nothing else at least out of the 12 tracks on the album, only the first 4 are unbearable hip-hop "music", and the rest is excellent. Still, as long as you are happy with paying for an album that is a third garbage, then the rest of the tracks are worth the purchase.

5 out of 5 stars Wow........2004-12-22

It has somthing for everybody. Dance, acoustic, rap, and heavy metal. Buy it. What?? Quit looking at me and go buy it!!

5 out of 5 stars A Creepy soundtrack to a good movie.......2004-08-24

This soundtrack is really good. the most spookiest superhero soundtrack i heard. It really fits in with the whole vampier scary movie thing. Make sure you get to check out Blade The lyric soundtrack

3 out of 5 stars Pulsing with Dark Menace.......2004-08-24

Mark Isham'score for Blade is not a traditionally written or conducted score. What becomes clear about the score, once listened to apart from the film, is that it's a great horror score.

The music is, more than anything, about setting or augmenting atmosphere. As such, the music throbs with deep bass while being punctuated by crashes or cymbals.

By far the best piece is the opener - "Intruder." It's probably the closest to a conventional score track as the album gets, but will rattle your windows with the thunderous drums and bass beats.

"The Temple of Light" is another memorable track, but can be a bit disturbing with its chorale elements and building sense of danger.

As mentioned before, this is NOT an action film score, but more a collection of pieces that add touches of mysterious horror to the story. It does not fare all the well on its own, as the lack of ear-friendly themes or pieces can make for difficult or frustrating listening.

I've found the score works perfectly as background music for creative work - as long as you're in the mood for something dark and kinetic. It also makes for great driving music if you're in the car in those magic moments before a storm hits, when the sky has darkened, the air is thick and the world waits for the tempest to break.

Bottom line: if you're looking for a great action movie score, keep looking. If you're wanting something brooding and dangerous to set a mood, give it a try.

4 out of 5 stars This is the Film Score, not the Pop Soundtrack [20 bit HDCD].......2001-10-05

To all those who are using your reviews as bulletin board messages to find the pop songs from the film: GO COMPLAIN ON THE "POP SOUNDTRACK" PAGE, NOT HERE. THIS IS THE SCORE. To everyone else: this is a unique, neo-gothic electronic/symphonic film score. I've never really heard anything quite like it, and it was perfect for the film. My only complaint is it could have been longer with more variation. Most scores are actually much longer than what's used on the film, so I suspect there was plenty of written material that simply wasn't fully produced. Isham should have added some extras for this release.

4 out of 5 stars Good CD, look elsewhere if you want the techno.......2000-09-16

Wake up, people- this is a film score. that means that you get some kick a** music but none of the techno. A lot of people have asked about techno songs from the movie, and I will help if I can- the bloodbath song is, of course, Confusion by New Order, and as another reviewer said the music Frost is listening to in the archives is Call and Response by Source Direct. I have heard that the bar scene (with the japanese school girls) is Ah, Singapore by Shonen Knife but I have not found the right mix yet- anyone know where to look? The first song from the end credits is Southside Reverb's "Go Get On it". If anyone has info on the bar song or any other songs email me at event_horizon@techie.com Even if you just want the techno, buy this CD anyway, it has some good stuff.

5 out of 5 stars Watch out for Blade!.......2000-08-19

With "Blade", Mark Isham has created a score that is more along the lines of "Kiss the Girls" than of a lot of his recent action/suspense scores, like "Timecop" and "The Net". When you turn on "Blade" in your CD player, you'll be catapulted right into the complications of Blade's birth suffered by his mother (right before the first dance club song plays) and then into a gunfight appearing later in the film in the vampire temple (they don't always sequence the tracks chronologically). My favorite parts of this album are probably toward the end, where we hear almost all of the score involving the big vampire ritual in the temple---right before Blade shows up for the final confrontation and puts a stop to Donal Logue and his goonies, once and for all. Great for Halloween, I should think!

Album Description

Set amid the chaos of pre-revolutionary China, small time thief, Sing, aspires to be one of the sophisticated and ruthless Axe Gang whose underworld activities overshadow the city. Stumbling across a crowded apartment complex aptly known as "Pig Sty Alley," Sing attempts to extort money from one of the ordinary locals, but the neighbors are not what they appear. Sing's comical attempts at intimidation inadvertently attract the Axe Gang into the fray, setting off a chain of events that brings the two disparate worlds face-to-face.

The exotic original score by Raymond Wong is complemented by the film's classical pieces, notably Sarasate's acclaimed "Zigeunerweisen" and Khachaturian's famous "Sabre Dance."

5 out of 5 stars What about the dialogue?.......2006-04-08

I have a question about the dialogue on this CD... is it interspersed on separate tracks between songs, or do they talk during the songs?

5 out of 5 stars Loved it!!!.......2005-10-21

As a Chinese, I love this soundtrack and the movie very much! There is no more I can say. However, it's a good soundtrack and I love it very much.

4 out of 5 stars great CD, but incomplete..........2005-09-20

This is the soundtrack released to the U.S. Just so you know, the soundtrack sold in Asia features a few more songs. Most notably missing is a song preformed by Huang Sheng Yi, called "Zhi Yao Wei Ni Huo Yi Tian" which comes toward the end of the movie. It might be my favorite song in the movie, and it's too bad it's missing from the U.S. soundtrack.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic Soundtrack.......2005-08-20

If you have seen this unbelievable movie, then you know how incredible the music is. It matches the mood of the movie and everything the previous reviewer said I agree with. It has great sweeping scores with an extremely cool "oriental/chinese" sound and presence to it. I mostly bought it for a few cool songs I fell in love with when I saw the movie and the whole album is great. You will recognize a few of the songs used in a lot of other chop socky/martial arts movies and you'll really enjoy having them along with all the other great music on this soundtrack and it goes without saying, but if you haven't seen or bought this movie yet, get it. We need to encourage Stephen Chow and support him in his endeavors to make more great movies instead of the same old rehashed formulaic, cookie cutter, boring(need I go on?)"Hollywood Entertainment" fare.

As a collector of various movie soundtracks, there are many times when I am utterly dismayed by how unrelated they are to the movies they are supposed to complement.

The Kung Fu Hustle CD, however, is far from any of that! I watched this movie four times in the theater, and every time, the music just mesmerized me from start to finish! The movie was great, and the music was even better!

I quickly ordered the soundtrack from Amazon.com, and when it arrived, I was far from disappointed. This CD is fantastic! It does not leave anything out. What you hear in the movie is what you hear in the CD from beginning to end. The tracks are even in order of which they appear in the movie!

If you enjoyed Kung Fu Hustle, then the soundtrack is definitely for you. Go forth! Purchase the soundtrack, and prepare to be pleasantly entertained by the delightful music!
