Good for study.......2002-06-24
There are two ways that one can listen to this: one, mixed in at random with other stuff and two, by itself in a deliberate manner.
As a collection of "song length" compositions, this is a nice way to get some classical music into one's collection. It would be a good gift for a student. Mixed with other tracks, it's refreshing to listen to. I don't that you get the full effect of this CD when listening to it this way.
Ideally, this is a CD to listen to in a deliberate way. Listen to it when you first get to work in the morning, and are organizing your day. Put this is a study center for students. The power is this CD is in repeated listening and to create a "sense of space."
Gain focus and clarity.......2001-03-05
This CD had a tremendous effect on my ability to concentrate on my work and improved my ability to articulate both written and verbal communication. Listen to it on your way to work and you will have a renewed sense of clarity about many things.
When You Need to Focus, This Will Definitely Help!.......2000-03-17
I've been using this title for several months, and have found that it really helps me to focus in on the task at hand and get it taken care of easily. The fact that the music is wonderfully arranged and played is just an added bonus!

An unusual album by Front 242, the band's two singers were not directly involved in its construction. It is, however, first-rate electronic music with remarkably creative programming and flawless production. It features a female singer (Christine Kowalski), another surprise for longtime Front 242 fans. Her voice is wrathful and distorted on "GenEcide" and "Modern Angel," longing and resentful on "Crushed"--a touching song about loss and isolation. Menacing drum sounds and an enigmatic chant propel the portentous "Serial Killers." Intricate percussion patterns and sweeping synthesizers make for some of Daniel Bressanutti and Patrick Codenys' most memorable programming, particularly on "Animal," and the remixes "Junkdrome" and "Skin (Fur Coat)." --Mark McCleerey

Perfect blending of Industrial and Techno/Electronica/Etc........2005-06-21
Not 100% Industrial, and definitely not 100% Techno, this is an amazing recording. I have always loved NIN, early Front 242, Ministry, some Skinny Puppy, and a bit of Front Line Assembly, but THIS work takes the cake... amazing... I remember buying this when it was first released and expecting the same old Front 242 attack... wow, was I surprised.... female vocals for starters, but also a new sense of continuity and VERY cool synth/sample work... it will ALWAYS be one of my required listening CD's... Highlight: GenEcide... just listen to it.
05:22:09:12 Off ~ Front 242.......2005-05-11
This was the second album that was released in 1993 and it is one of the best ebm albums ever recorded. I think that it was a very bold decision to go with Christine Kowalski as their lead singer instead of their regular vocalists. The end result is nothing short of astounding and stupendous. Kowalski adds a new element and edge to a band that needed some new blood and new ideas at the time. The lyrics are some of the best the band has ever written and they are not as obtuse and confusing as on some of their earlier releases. The sounds selected are nothing short of amazing and the vocal treatments sound awesome. This is such a great album and I personally think that it is Front 242's magnum opus.
Really hard, really innovative.......2004-10-01
I always had a hard time deciding which of the two innovative 1993 albums from 242 was better. At first I prefered this album, but then I went back to liking the more laid back 'Up Evil' album better because of all the complex layers it had.
But despite, this album is the harder & stronger big brother of 'Up Evil'. The lyrics are loud & driving with distortion filters. I think 242 really paved the way on vocal filter innovation here.
I see this album as a MUST HAVE for any real industrial fan. While 242 isn't as commonly known as NIN because their lack of a Top40 hit, I would say 242's music is much more complex than NIN, if not always as catchy.
1. Animal (Cage) - great slow intro (I don't rate intros)
2. Animal (Gate) - 5 stars
3. Animal (Guide) - 4.5 stars
4. Modern Angel - 5 stars
5. Junkdrome - 5 stars
6. Serial Killers Don't Kill Their Girlfriend - 4.75 stars
7. Skin (Fur Coat) - 4 stars
8. GenEcide - 3.75 stars
9. Crushed - 5 stars
10. offEND - great soundscape (I only rate songs)
11. Animal (Zoo) - 4.5 stars
12. Serial Killers Don't Kill Their Boyfriend - 4.25 stars
13. Happiness (More Angels) - 4.75 stars
14. Crushed (Obsessed) - 4.75 stars
15. Melt (Angel) - 4 stars (sounds a touch like older 242)
16. Speed Angels - 5 stars
Almost as good as <Tyranny For You>.......2004-09-30
I bought both of these back in 93',pretty good, but I think Tyranny For you was Front 242's best to date.
Top quality record.......2004-06-22
As far as the influence over the industrial scene is concerned, few bands can rival Front 242. This album shows the band still at its creative peak. It sounds somewhat different to what we came to expect from these guys, first of all, because there's almost no 242's trademark Jean-Luc de Meyer's singing. Instead, the female singer dominates most of the songs here. She sounds very convincing, with menacing distortion in certain tracks, and soothing melodism in others. There's a lot of techno influence on the record, and the pulsing of synth lines is entrancing. Overall feeling of the record is dark and disturbing, with hard driving rhythms, though the variety of the tracks is impressive. My favorite is perhaps "Happiness" where hard techno rhythm is mixed with operatic female singing. What's peculiar about this work, is that certain melodic themes and rhythmical structures are used throughout the record, mixed into the tracks structure here and there, as a sort of industrial conceptual record.
This album was the last in a series of studio greatness from Front 242 that continued on from their debut in 1982. "05:22:09:12 Off" is a must have for any industrial or EBM fan.

Album Description
The hugely successful Bonkers series reaches its 12th release with Bonkers 12 - The Dirty Dozen and for the first time ever React is bringing you the album in a 4-CD box set.
Bonkers 12 is brought to you by 5 of the biggest names in UK hardcore, with the series favorites Hixxy and Sharkey, who are joined by the hard hitting talent of Scott Brown and the dynamic DJ/production duo of Mark Breeze & Darren Styles. Together they deliver over 60 tracks of cutting edge hardcore in 5 hours of musical mayhem spread over 4 CDs - where a vast majority of the tracks are exclusive to Bonkers 12, including several remixes and cover versions of massive tracks produced just for this album.
Original Bonkers innovator Hixxy gets things started with the kind of rip-roaring mix that's made him a hardcore favorite over the years, while Sharkey showcases some of the freshest new production talent from around the globe, including materials from the Nu Energy label collective, and a special guest appearance from KLF vocalist Bello D. Scott Brown turns up the heat in a blistering mix of UK hardcore fused with Dutch nu-skool gabba, followed by Breeze & Styles wrapping things up in a back-to-back DJ mix that features chart toppers Ultrabeat under their Clear Vu guise and anthems from the Nukleuz, Raverbaby and All Around The World labels.
With over 60 tracks from the 5 biggest UK hardcore favorites in a 4-CD box set, The Dirty Dozen proves to be one of the most anticipated hardcore compilations of the year!
Customer Reviews:
This is a completely Bonkers album........2005-08-11
CD1 HIXXY: Not the best mix of this comp. A fair few rockin tunes such as 'Fallen Angel' 'You're my Angel' 'Tantric' 'C.O.N' 'Whole' and 'Always'. Hixxy has'nt always been that good in my opinion but he still remains one worth checking out.
CD2 SHARKEY: Sharkey does it again with his uncompromising bunch of freeform/hardcore. No-one rocks it like Sharkey boy. The whole mix is top quality with a desire to listen to it over and over again. It seems Sharkey is'nt going to soften up in the near future if he keeps on banging it like he always has done. I hope one day I can be the next Sharkey, without over shadowing him of course..
CD3 SCOTT BROWN: Scott Brown serves up a tasty helping of feel good hardcore and some crunchy seconds with his assault of nu-style gabba. 'This one's for all of us' is an absolute banger, coupled with a seamless transition into 'Torn'. 'Boomstick' is a nice tune with almost hardstyle cuts. 'Alles Kapot' ends things nicely with some nice beats and just hard as nails. I can't give you a review of the Breeze and Styles mix as I don't actually have a copy of the mix as I downloaded the other 3 as mp3's and converted them 3 only onto disc. I hope to get the remaining Bonkers releases to complete my collection.
A Whole Lotta Bang for your Buck!.......2004-06-25
Priced at about $25, this compilation is a must have for any hardcore lover. If you are a fan of the recent Bonkers series, then this 4 Disc set is a great addition to your collection.
In order of Preference:
CD4: This is Breeze & Styles first installment in the Bonkers series, and in my humble opinion, their CD beats the other three hands down. It's a mix of very happy, upbeat tracecore with alot of exclusives on it. Every song on the CD kicks like happy hardcore should: making you feel good when you listen to it!
CD3: Scott Brown's Mix is very, very good, if you enjoy the dark side of hardcore. The Gabber on the end the CD is very good as well. Many people consider Scott Brown the most talented of hardcore producers; he is sure up there!
CD2: Sharkey's Mix is very good, starting off with a great track "Power in the Light". Sharkey's mixes are always the fastest in the series. This CD of 303-induced freeform hardcore is no exception.
CD1: Hixxy's mix is the worst of the set. But it's OK, because the Breeze & Styles mix is so good, you can overlook Hixxy's recent flop.
If you like this compiliation: give Bonkers 9 a listen. It has Hixxy, Sharkey and Scott Brown all at their best.
Bonkers 12: The Dirty Dozen.......2004-05-18
The 12th installment of the Bonkers series is better than ever!
Hixxy's Mix: This mix was good, but not up to the standard of his previous mixes. There are a number of good tunes in here (Take a Look, You're My Angel, Fallen Angel, Whole, C.O.N.), but since Breeze & Styles and Hixxy have basically the same trancey style, it seems like the quality songs in this style are spread a bit too thin across the two of them.
Sharkey's Mix: Surprisingly good. I haven't liked Sharkey's freeform style in the past, but this time his mix showcases a number of really great tracks (Can't Compete, New Zealand Story, Know the Score, Hugger Mugger, Funky Technician). And of course, fans of Sharkey's older mixes will definitely love this one.
Scott Brown's Mix: Jaw-dropping. Absolutely breathtaking. Songs like This Is How We Do It, All About You, This Is My Bass, and Boomstick (all four of which rank as some of my favorite hardcore songs ever) highlight the incredible quality in Scott Brown's music. There isn't a single track on this CD that I would consider bad. The Gabber tracks at the end of the mix are just incredible. This CD alone is worth the whole price of the set and then some.
Breeze & Styles: A lot of people don't seem to like this CD, but I quite like it. There are a number of songs that stand out from the crowd (Feel The Power, 3000 Cycles, Flow, Take Your Time). Granted, many of the songs sound very similar to one another, but there's enough variation to keep it interesting.
Aside from a few nitpicks, this is a CD set that should in every Hardcore fan's collection. It's a wonderful showcase of the various flavors of hardcore; there's something here for everyone.

Customer Reviews:
This CD Rocks!!!.......1999-05-31
This was my first dream dance experience so it was all a new thing for me... it hasn't left my CD player ever since. I'm now investing on the the rest of the dream dance series. When played it should be well towards the full volume and the bass turned up to the max. A MUST buy for the dance enthusiast
