Great Album.......2006-11-02
I like this album more and more as I listen to it. It has stayed in my player all summer and isn't leaving anytime soon.
Love it!.......2006-07-02
I saw this CD at a friends house and asked about it, we put it in and I was blown away by "In a daydream". It took a while but
"Take the time" and others struck me too! I saw them in SLC at a private club. Man that drummer would smack the drums so hard...listen to the drumming and you can almost feel it!
BUY this !!! I had this as the number 1 CD in my car changer for about three years!
When you need to remember to live life........2005-04-06
When you need to remember to live life, you listen to this album. There aren't many albums that are in constant rotation at my house, but this is one.
Let me take you back in time. It's 1994 and I am moving from my home to a big new city to pursue a dream. An awesome friend of mine, makes me a tape of various songs. It included three from the FJB, her favorite band, she was a groupie. From the beginning the music was uplifting, full of great lyrics and incredible. From Take the Time, to One World and then of course In a Daydream. I was in tears. I was starting new. Powerful stuff.
Take the Time starts off asking, Where the hell are you running to? Try and find yourself a life. Look at yourself you're just standing still. And later, Tired of people talking about what they're gonna do or what they said or should have done. It commands you to take the time to look in front of you. It's full of great harmonies, haunting vocals and goosebump producing guitars. Seriously.
In A Daydream starts off with a great, catchy, loopy guitar riff. It's a song that will propel you forward in one of those days you just dream about. Warm, sunny day in the middle of nowhere. "The sky is calling, calling out my name." "I'm already in a daydream." The music, especially the guitar and bass towards the end, is meant to achieve the musical equivalent of a fantasy. It captures it.
The bottom line is that music, for me, is meant to take me away to another place or time. This album is timeless, deserved A LOT more recognition that it got and this band was just incredible live. In fact, much better live. Thanks to my friend 11 yrs ago for introducing me to TFJB. I am in Chicago now, too bad they aren't together anymore. But their music lives on forever.
A lover of "BLUES".......2002-10-23
I picked up the cassette of this at a tag sale! It is one of the BEST ever! I have been searching for more from FJB for months. Just found them (Oct 2002). It is amazing that they broke up. This is a MUST HAVE in your collection. I play it at least once a week. IN A DAYDREAM is wonderful. So is Dixie. They are all good. If you need a lift, this is the one to play. I cannot wait to get all the rest of their music.
A fan from Connecticut
This album is a classic!.......2001-12-05
"Waiting for the Night" is one of the greatest lesser-known albums of recent history. There are some really dynamite tunes on this album. The song that is the favorite of everyone who knows Freddy Jones is "In a Daydream." It's the kind of song that will pick you up when you are down, and keep you riding when you're feeling great.
It's really a shame that this band no longer exists. Somehow the music mainstream missed these guys, and they never really got the huge national following that they deserved.

Product Description
"Failures of Investing" emanates clarity and stylistic vision. Indeed, each song is heavy with razor-sharp hooks and smarter repetition; not one follows another in arrangement. At times the record produces a permeating beauty with floating dirges like "Magenta" and the last and hidden track. At others - "Wasted," "Take It Back," ":From This Star," and "Regeneration," for instance - the lead guitar compels you along a roller coaster ride. And at still other times - "Well-Kept Note," "Stay," "A Ways Away," "Better Sound Regrets" and "To Save This Child" - you are wrenched back and forth between flair-filled riffs and curiously grabbing melody. And perhaps most surprisingly of all, nearly every song presents a grove unlike anything West Coast Sleeping has yet produced.
Customer Reviews:
Are You Hearing This???!!!!.......2007-04-30
We at Babble and Beat think:
West Coast Sleeping are: Adam Seiler - bass, Kyle Klika - rhythm guitar, Ryan Petersen - drums, Nathan Smits - vocals, and Brian Klika - lead guitar. They appear courtesy of Rock Garden.
I've been exposed to massive amounts of amazing undiscovered, under-appreciated, and/or unknown bands in the last couple of years. West Coast Sleeping is now one of my very favorite undiscovered bands.
WCS is not getting constant radio play throughout the U.S. like another Milwaukee band we all know now... A band I won't name, a good band, but not nearly as special as West Coast Sleeping. Bottom line is, these guys are perfectly suitable for the big stations like Milwaukee's 102.1 (WLUM) and Chicago's 93.1 (WXRT) yet, they're pretty much only getting scattered airplay on smaller Wisconsin stations. We all know about radio station politics so we'll move on.
I am completely blown away by this album! Each and every song completely rocks. Yes, every-single-song! The melodies are infectious, raw, and fresh. All songs are written by the band... and you couldn't pay for better songwriting as a whole.
You also couldn't pay for better vocals. Nathan's vocals are nothing short of amazing! At times I hear a little Eddie Vedder, at others Kurt Cobain... even some Paul Westerberg (Replacements) slips in from time to time.
Then there's the rest of the band. Ryan is fierce on the drums and we love Kyle's perfected distortion on the guitar. Add the talent & skill of Adam on bass and Brian on lead guitar and you have a band that could very well be destined to make some rock `n roll history. If only we can get everyone to give 'em a listen.
Lyric Samples:
You can't tell from the lyrics themselves but 'Wasted' offers an infectious chorus that you'll be singing along with in no time:
Fall away. You took everything,
I lost everyone. I'm just wasted.
Far away. You are enigmatic,
incapable. I'm just wasted.
'Well-Kept Note':
Within resignation
I can reach franticly.
The failures of investing
I do not fail to see.
My favorites on this album are `Take It Back', `Wasted', `Magenta', `Well-Kept Note', `Regeneration', `A Ways Away', `To Save This Child', and `Stay'. All of which are just as good, if not better, than the majority of songs I hear on constant rotation on the cool radio stations. By the way, I just mentioned 8 songs as having the potential to be major hits. How many cds out there have 8 hit songs on it (no, you can't count the "best of" comps)?
The remaining 3 songs are solid tunes that I have NOT found myself forwarding through, despite listening to this cd at least 20 times in full! If the `Failures Of Investing' cd is under 50 bucks it's a steal.
This review may sound a little over the top but it's simply one of the best overall releases I have heard this decade. West Coast Sleeping has a growing Midwestern following and the potential to take over the continent. Hear for yourself.

Customer Reviews:
stellar performance.......2006-04-28
Even if I were not the photographer who contributed the cover photos I would rate this album as a ten. For this release, SONiA has cooked up a band of incredible talent and passion which drives her songs to a whole new level of glory. An added bonus is sister CiNDY's vocals on the Kerrville tracks which connect this recording to the past of disappear fear. This new incarnation of disappear fear rocks and its sound can only go up from here. It is as spontaneous and as fixed in time as SONiA's smile on the cover. Gotta love this one.
Beautiful, pure, and real.......2006-02-15
I saw Disappear Fear at the High Sierra Music Fest in Quincy and we even had the honor of jamming with them and sharing ideas. Disappear Fear Live 05 is a wonderful and enlightening work of art. I was entranced twice by their song and bass!
Another Gem from SONiA.......2005-11-15
Several years ago, I attended a Phil Ochs Tribute night in Greenwich Village, and was treated to an eclectic group of folk legends (including Dave Van Ronk and John Wesley Harding) and unknown (to me, anyway) acts performing some of my all-time favorite songs. One singer, however, stole the stage that night: a young woman named SONiA of disappear fear (that's how she capitalizes her name and group, and no I don't know why), who performed Phil's "Is There Anybody Here?" and had the audience actually holding our collective breath in awe of her rendition. It was one of the most electric live performances I'd ever seen, and when the concert ended I marched right down the street to Tower Records and bought every disappear fear CD I could find.
I'm a child of the '70s; growing up my musical idols were three stars who were certainly timeless, but whose stars had shone brightest in earlier decades: Phil, Buddy Holly, John Lennon. In SONiA, I found a contemporary artist with Lennon's way with a phrase, Phil's dedication to social justice, and Holly's sense of fun. From that night until this, she's been my favorite singer/songwriter, and I've enjoyed each new album from her the way a soldier enjoys a letter from home.
SONiA Rutstein is from Baltimore, where she formed disappear fear with her sister Cindy in the late 1980s. A decade later, Cindy retired from the road to raise a family and SONiA pushed on a solo act. She currently tours with a new disappear fear, a self-styled "power trio". SONiA's website (soniadf.com) accurately describes their sound as "part intelligent folk singer-songwriter, part sweaty rock-and-roll and part whimsical pop." They tour incessantly, and their new CD is terrific.
It's an absolutely sterling collection of most of her best songs, including the down-home rip-snorter "Ride This Ride" ("Remember three years ago... I was buckin' to be free, and as I recall you were happy just to be buckin' me"), "No Bomb is Smart", "Bring Your Own God", and "Sexual Telepathy". It also includes the title track from her 2004 Grammy and Out nominated album, ME, TOO. The new CD is a gem that carries our Highest Recommendation.

Amazing.......2005-03-17
I recently heard an excerpt from this CD on the radio. I immediately purchased the CD and found it to be a collection of music that is superbly played on an instrument that I haven't heard in years. It is a welcome addition to my CD collection. I have listened to it several times and highly recommend it.
Don Angle Rocks With His Spirited Harpsichord!.......2004-09-26
If you have been deprived of the genius of Don Angle until now, you are in for a treat! His latest CD, "Yes Indeed!" offers the most scrumptious sampling of instrumental music ever recorded. Don has selected very classy tunes from Quincy Jones, the Bee Gees, Stephen Foster, Nino Rota and John Phillip Sousa to bring alive his shockingly spirited harpsichord, yes I said harpsichord! His brilliant arrangements begin with the joyful Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah and include beloved traditional songs, Don's signature Boogie, and three more luscious Don Angle creations, including his title song "Yes Indeed!" If you have long been a Don Angle fan, as I have, then you already know the thrill of his unique arrangements as he makes his harpsichord "rock!" New to Don Angle's world, or devoted fan, you will want to have this CD sound in your life. Yes Indeed!

Check This Guy Out!.......2003-03-06
I bought this record on the recommendation (actually, insistance!) of a friend in Pittsburgh, who knew I was a major Springsteen and Jackson Browne fan. When I went to visit her last weekend, I had the good fortune to see a live show. He's got a new record coming out and he mostly did songs from that. A trip to his website re-confirmed that it's going to be less raw and bare bones acoustic than this one (he's got some of the tracks from the new record up there.) That show gave me a whole new appreciation for this record and since last weekend, this CD has not left my car. I'm telling you, if you like great singer/songwriters, this guy is the real deal. (P.S. - Thanks, Dana!)
Definitely Lives...........2002-04-06
...up to expectations. Love his voice! In a world of forgettable music and meaningless lyrics, it's great to have discovered this guy. Went on his website and it says he's working on something new. I will definitely be looking forward to the next one and would highly recommend this album!
new fan!.......2002-02-21
What a great surprise to hear something so heartfelt and refreshing. Count me in as a new fan!!
Glad To Be Reminded.......2001-08-30
Feels like home to a former Pittsburgher to see Bill Deasy on television! I couldn't believe my eyes at first and had to check to see if it was my favorite singer songwriter from my home town! I immediately pulled out "Spring Lies Waiting" and it's been on repeat play ever since. I hope that "good things happen" for one of the most talented singer/songwriters around, Pittsburgh or not! Just ordered "So Close To Home"...can't wait to hear it!
Great CD.......2001-08-29
This CD is lyrically brilliant delivered with the cool yet passionate voice of Deasy. It is very mellow. Check out his Gathering Field CD's for the same lyrically genius and passionate singing but with more rock and energy. Latest is called So Close to Home, but Reliance and Lost in America are all awesome. Deasy is one to watch with the best stuff ahead of him.
