- Paul talks about the music of Memory Almost Full
Amazon.com
"Many years from now" must have seemed like an understatement to 16-year-old Paul McCartney, wondering if he'd still be needed or fed at the age of 64. As it turned out, all doubt as to the latter had ceased by his 22nd birthday (though few could have predicted he'd end up washing down those meals with the liquid pride of Seattle). As to the former? Now that McCartney, as of the date of this album's release, has reached that mythic age, his greatest work is 40 years behind him, his solo peak over 30 years gone. Does the world need a new Paul McCartney album? The answer is yes, at least as much as it needs anything else that passes for music these days. With Memory Almost Full, Macca is back. No, it's not Ram or Band on the Run. It might not even be Flowers in the Dirt--in 1989, he had a full band, the support of Linda, and Elvis Costello as a collaborator. Here, he's on his own. Literally: on the majority of the tracks, everything but the strings is multi-instrumentalist Paul. But the surprise is that it's one of his freest, loosest affairs in years, sonically reminiscent of the Tug of War/Pipes of Peace era with nods to Abbey Road in the album-closing medley, McCartney's gravelly tones on "Gratitude," and 2007's version of "Her Majesty," the palate-cleansing "Nod Your Head." It's a surprise because of the album's inescapable sense of retrospection ("Ever Present Past," "Vintage Clothes," "That Was Me") and even a bit of weariness. The next-to-last song is "The End of the End," after all, in which McCartney tells us about what he'd like to happen "on the day that I die." (He wants "songs that were sung/to be hung out like blankets/that lovers have played on/and laid on while listening to songs that were sung," and will likely get his wish.) But it never gets overwhelming, for McCartney mostly resists his tendency to get plodding and maudlin. In fact, Memory Almost Full must be the most sanguine album made during the dissolution of a marriage since...well, ever. "What went out is coming back," he sings in "Vintage Clothes," and from the sound of things, that may not be just wishful thinking. What's past is prologue; if we're lucky, what to come may be McCartney's late renaissance. --Benjamin Lukoff
Album Description
The 13 new songs on Memory Almost Full are performed entirely by Paul McCartney (excluding strings) and produced by Grammy Award-winner David Kahne (The Strokes, Sublime, Bruce Springsteen and more).
This beautifully-packaged, deluxe limited edition also comes with a 2nd disc that contains 3 unreleased bonus tracks and audio commentary by Paul McCartney describing the music, 6 foldout color postcard-sized photos, and full lyrics.

Customer Reviews:
Great album great show.......2007-07-13
I was priveleged to be able to see Paul perform 5 of the new numbers in NY exactly a month ago today. It was extraordinary. House of Wax had the room levitating off the floor. How one person is capable of producing so much brilliant work is amazing. Nod Your Head takes on a new meaning when you are asked to do so by Paul. I would have given that the weakest song on the album but hearing it live just brought it up to par. The only part I don't like about the album is the mixing. It sounds too harsh for my ears and I would have preferred a softer approach, but tweaking a few knobs usually takes care of that. Thanks once again for another brilliant album in less than 2 years!
The Worst Brings Out His Best.......2007-07-13
It seems adversity and personal turmoil bring out the best in Mr. McCartney. Think about it. "McCartney" was recorded as the Beatles were breaking up. "Band on the Run" was recorded after two members left Wings at the last minute before the band was to travel to Nigeria to record the album. "Tug of War" came in the aftermath of John Lennon's murder. "Flaming Pie" was released as Linda McCartney was fighting a losing battle with breast cancer. And now comes "Memory Almost Full", recorded as McCartney faces an ugly late-in-life divorce. You'd never know it. The music is for the most part upbeat and optimistic. Beautiful melodies abound. It's bouncy and sunny, and even the dark passages are tinged with light. There is some very Wings-sounding rock. Yes, Sir Paul's voice sounds strained in places (he is 65), but for the most part he sounds good -- almost relieved to be singing again. The CD is a welcome departure from his last two, the sloppy "Driving in the Rain" and the absolutely morose sounding -- though for some reason critically acclaimed -- "Chaos and Creation in the Back Yard". McCartney and his original bandmates defined what creative rock stardom was all about. Sir Paul continues to do so in the context of senior citizenship. May he go on aging so gracefully.
paul is still great.......2007-07-13
paul mc cartney is still one of the best songwriter/singer/performers ever. i haven't taken the cd out of my car's cd player since i got it.
macca is still fabulous.......2007-07-13
The entire album is great. Mr.Bellamy is up there with Eleanor Rigby for a haunting life story. Dance Tonight will have you dancing around the kitchen. And you can't do anything but nod your head. Get it-you won't be dissappointed.p
My First "McCartney" Disappointment. . ........2007-07-12
Like the gal wrote in an earlier review. . ."I'm surprised at all the good reviews!".
Like most all of Paul's CD's. . .I've either preordered, or purchased without any sampling. When this came in the mail, both my wife and I were severely disappointed. Paul's voice was sounding whiney and strained. . .and. . . with exception of a couple of tunes, the writing wasn't all that good. We feel that Paul's talent has finally succumbed to his ego. His work smacks of a man who feels that everything he does is genius. If all this wasn't bad enough. . .I find that the two entire CD's can be loaded on one standard CD-R. Adding insult to injury is the fact that Paul believes that his fans want to hear 20 minutes while he dribbles on about how he came to write the songs. . .Great marketing ploy here. . .little else. Sorry Paul.

Few bands of the 1960s retained as much a sense of the roots of rock and roll as did Creedence Clearwater Revival. Their music is rife with country, rockabilly, and R&B influences, a combination that produced several hit singles--most of which are present on this collection. These include "I Heard It through the Grapevine," "Lodi," "Up Around the B ," "Who'll Stop the Rain," and of course "Bad Moon Rising." This is an excellent greatest-hits collection, and a perfect introduction to the music of a band that has been enduringly influential. --Genevieve Williams

As Im in my sixties you might think Im to old, but this is my sort of music.I reckon " john fogerty " is a great singer. Just listen to find out. Hope you like it the same as I do.
CCR.......2007-06-28
An excellent greatist hits CD, I used a handful of songs to burn a CD with other related style of music.
great stuff.......2007-06-27
listening to this CD makes you realize how great john fogerty was back in the day. great songs, great sound.
Gets me going in the morning.......2007-06-27
I've been listening to this CD for 2 weeks in my car on the way to work.
Soundtrack of an era.......2007-06-15
This is an excellent compilation of CCR's tunes from the late 60s, early 70s. There's a reason why Credence tunes kept popping up in movies and commercials. It's great music and evocative of the era from which it comes. No need for me to review the individual tunes; anybody with a radio has head most of them. A must-have for any music fan.

At this point, who else but Tony Bennett would have the clout to round up stars on the scale of Elton John, Paul McCartney, Bono, Celine Dion and Barbra Streisand for some duets? (Note also that unlike some similar projects, all the parties involved on this CD were alive when it was recorded!) The material consists of relatively obvious classics in standard big-band arrangements, and Bennett himself is in top form at age 80, so much so that he doesn't need anybody else to handle "I Left My Heart in San Francisco." But the fun comes from checking out how his collaborators fare. The Dixie Chicks provide wonderful Andrews Sisters-type harmonies on the percolating version of "Lullaby of Broadway" that opens the festivities. The best songs tend to be the ones where Bennett's slightly craggy voice is juxtaposed to smooth female ones, like Diana Krall on "The Best Is Yet to Come," familiar accomplice k.d. lang on the sultry "Because of You" and Streisand-perhaps Bennett's only equal in stature at this pointon "Smile." Among the less expected guests, soulman John Legend is a revelation on the hard-swinging "Sing, You Sinners," while George Michael confirms he's quite the crooner on "How Do You Keep the Music Playing?" Elvis Costello, Celine Dion or Juanes don't sound as comfortable, and sometimes it feels as if they overdo it to compensate, but overall this collection is among the best of its kind, with most guests rising to the occasion. --Elisabeth Vincentelli

Customer Reviews:
Not bad but the voice is going--sorry.......2007-06-27
I would say "OK" but it is not of the quality of the Ray Charles' duets. Tony is fantastic but time diminshes the quality of the voice.
Watch the DVD, then rate the album.......2007-06-23
PBS ran the tape of the making of Duets and gave me a whole new perspective on the CD. I now can visualize each song as I listen, and it has enhanced my enjoyment of the best tracks while making ones I thought were not as good much more in line with the Bennett tradition of "telling the story" of each song. He gets inside the music and lives there with such ease.
There is nobody who can blend with Bennett's voice better than k.d. lang - except Diana Krull, James Taylor, Tim McGraw or, well, most of the other people chosen to sing with him.
This record is joyful and not enhanced, as one reviewer suggested. Hearing/seeing how Bennett works with lyrics and other performers still amazes me. I've been a fan since his first recording - there was nothing like a Bennett song for setting the mood.
Tolerable but falls short of its potential.......2007-06-19
As much as I wanted to rate this album higher, befitting Tony's legendary status, I couldn't because it suffers from "too many cooks in the kitchen." Like so many of these collaborations, some of the singers paired with Bennett work (McCartney, Michael, Streisand, John, and a surprisingly good Bono), some are adequate (Dion, Wonder, Joel, Juanes) and some fall into the "what-were-they-thinking" category (The Dixie Chicks, McGraw and John Legend).
And no matter how much respect I have for the legendary crooner, Bennett's voice is, expectedly, not what it used to be and on some songs, he strains and has wavy tones.
However, one can't deny his musical status and the fact that he was able to get so many top-notch talent to support is a testament to that fact.
And the choice of songs can't be denied; they are all bonafide "classics" in the truest sense of the term.
So glad you did it Tony!.......2007-06-18
This Album is a must in any collection of Music!
Wonderful music!.......2007-06-08
I have always thought of Tonny Bennett as an old-time singer but he SWINGS on this and the duet with Stevie Wonder is worth the price of the CD alone! KD Lang was amazing and Streisand was faultless and more. All in all it was a CD that is still being played in my car and will never get old.

Great Children's CD.......2007-07-12
I grew up listening to these songs on an old record that my parents had. We lost the record and I searched for these songs for my new little baby girl. I am so happy that I found it on Amazon and that my baby girl gets to grow up with the same classics that I did when I was a kid. The CD is wonderful and the price was even better.
Aww the good old times!.......2007-06-18
I grew up with this music!! My dad bought the records when I was little, YES records! Im 25yrs old so this was the late the 80's when he purchased it. Now I have the opportunity to introduce this to my children! I'm so glad they are continuing to sell this music because I loved it as a child. I still remember taking the records out and asking my parents to play it.
Walt Disney CD: Characters Do Not Sing.......2007-06-06
I'm a little disappointed. I purchased this CD thinking The Disney Characters would be singing the songs. My son was all excited when I showed him the CD and asked me to play it. When he heard it he said "this is not Mickey Mouse". He was very sad. The songs on this CD are sung by children. The CD is ok.
Garbage.......2007-05-13
Really very boring and campy - I can't bear to listen and wish I could return it. In fact all of the Disney Lullabuys and children's songs were downright horrible. Stick with Baby Einstein, Rock a Bye Baby and Just for Kids - Curious George is great too
Yeah!.......2007-03-04
Much better than all of those other randon baby CD's where all of the songs sound exactly the same and sound like they are sung by chipmunks!!

After Warren Zevon's death in 2003, his son Jordan was clearing out a storage space when he found a large stash of demos and home recordings Zevon had made before 1976. Winnowed down from many hours of tape, this selection is so satisfying you're left awaiting another volume almost instantly. Preludes has been generously packaged with a booklet overflowing with reminiscences and insight from peers and family, as well as a bonus disc with recent interview extracts and choice selections from 2000's Life'll Kill Ya. The rough sound quality is more than made up for by the performances. Highlights include a speedier, country-punk garage take on "Poor, Poor Pitiful Me" and the original demo of "Werewolves of London," here presented in a slowed-down reggae-ish (and campier) take. Only two of these 16 takes fall flat: the vocals on "Accidentally Like a Martyr" are just too bleak even for Zevon, while the faux-sunshine Eagles-y production on "Ride So High" is interesting but just too anachronistic. The versions of "French Inhaler" and "Carmelita" show Zevon in his angry, post-Dylan singer-songwriter style. It's reminiscent of the best John Cale solo recordings. Poignant, beautiful and bitter, it's no wonder the guy didn't fit in with his California contemporaries. As with Townes Van Zandt, there's something of a great short story in Zevon's songs; confronted with them in all their ragged, stripped-down glory, it's clear what a major talent he was. --Mike McGonigal

Genius: The Best of Warren Zevon |
Album Description
Warren Zevon passed way from mesothelioma, a form of asbestos related lung cancer in 2003. A few months later, his son, Jordan, drove out to one of his dad's storage spaces in the San Fernando Valley to begin the sorting the process. He discovered over a 100 unreleased outtakes and demos in a piano-sized touring case.
Preludes features 16 of the best of these discovered recordings, including 6 unreleased tracks "Empty Hearted Town," "Going All The Way," "Steady Rain," "Stop Rainin Lord" "Studebaker" and "Rosarita Beach Café." All songs were recorded pre-1976. Other gems are previously unheard versions of "Werewolves of London" and "Accidentally Like A Martyr". The 2nd disc features an in-depth radio interview Warren did with Jody Denberg in 2000.
The deluxe 2CD package in a hardbound slipcase contains a 44-page booklet with dozens of family photos, all previously unpublished. Pictures are placed within excerpts from the forthcoming memoir I¹ll Sleep When I¹m Dead: The Dirty Life and Times of Warren Zevon. Released by Ecco/Harper Collins.
Customer Reviews:
Perfection.......2007-07-06
I love the unreleased version of Werewolves of London even more than the familiar one. And the interview was somewhat eye-opening as to the personality of Zevon. Essential for any true fan of his work.
Preludes.......2007-07-05
Preludes is excellent - more true genius from Zevon. Three songs, especially, stick in my mind - Heavy Rain, Empty Hearted Town and Rosarita Beach Cafe. How wonderful to be able to hear new Zevon even after he has left us.
zevon.......2007-06-27
best for a big fan, demos of later hits a treat, as are zevon comments and unique versions of several songs
Thank you, Jordan .......2007-06-12
The second cd is very interesting and worth a couple of hearings. The first cd is like the world's best flea market. Even the lesser stuff that you do not want to buy is at least interesting and there are several priceless, previously unreleased gems, such as Stop Raining Lord, The Rosarita Beach Cafe, a goofy version of Werewolves and, my favorite, an alternate version of Accidentally Like A Martyr with lyrics that might have been written by Catullus. This album is a must for any Zevon fan.
clearly shows thinking like a songwriter.......2007-06-10
I have so much music already that I hardly listen to any of the old stuff, and it takes something new to remind me how easily my mind can get into a song like `studebaker' or `the rosarita beach café.' This addition to my music collection is worth writing about because it tells me so much about songs that I already have.
I have rarely tried to review a disc of interviews, but it is possible that someone would be interested in purchasing `warren zevon preludes / rare and unreleased recordings' because they would love to hear the second disc, which only has three songs but gives fans a chance to hear Warren Zevon talk, answering questions, dealing with the autobiographical issues that entered into writing the song "I Was In The House When The House Burned Down," the ironic issues involved in singing Steve Winwood's "Back in the High Life," and the personality split that aptly has him singing the solo acoustic version of "Don't Let Us Get Sick" recorded live 12/3/99 at Austin City Limits Studios for 107.1 KGSR Radio Austin 9th Anniversary Concert.
Among the songs on the first disc, `empty hearted town,' `werewolves of London,' and `accidentally like a martyr' sound like early versions of songs that fans are likely to hear certain favorite lines in, in spite of subsequent changes that seem like invitations to reflect on his line, "You know how much I hate it when you reach inside my head and switch all my priorities around." One of the interviews on Disc 2 is about his "Life'll Kill Ya" CD, a collection of songs which attempted to avoid getting caught up in any musical ornamentation that might subsequently be considered mistakes. I've had this set for about a month and already it seems likely to become one of the contributions to the intellectual attempts to understand artistic processes in 2007 which will be significant for me much longer than the rivers of drivel that most people listen to as a matter of mundane routine in their attempts to experience live performances. I'm not really an expert, unless being intentionally unprofessional has become its own form of experise, but yesterday I attempted to sing a few lines of "Don't Sit Under The Apple Tree" for a small portion of a crowd on the grass where the legion post symphonic band that played for the dedication of Minnesota's state capitol World War II memorial had already packed up their instruments and left, and I was not as loud as the planes that flew overhead or the gun salute that was what the crowd was waiting to hear at the end.

Few would dispute that Frank Sinatra was one of the greatest popular singers of the 20th century. His voice had distinct power and majesty, whether he was belting out a swinging dance number or softly crooning a tender ballad. When he was at his height, no one could touch him, and the songs collected on Classic Sinatra showcase the range of his talent. Recorded during his memorable run for Capitol Records in the 1950s, the songs here are more than just his best, they're often the definitive recordings: "I Get a Kick out of You," "Young at Heart," "Witchcraft," "The Lady Is a Tramp," "In the Wee Small Hours," and "I've Got You Under My Skin." Like almost everything Sinatra recorded during this period, there isn't a dud to be found, which makes Classic Sinatra a perfect introduction to the work of this truly great talent. --Robert Burrow

Great Sinatra sound........2007-07-09
This CD has many classic Sinatra songs just as reflected by its name. Great CD for easy listening.
An Ideal Single Disc Collection Of Sinatra's Peak Years........2007-05-03
As someone who's been Sinatra's fan literally since he was a baby, I generally do consider myself an expert in his music. And since I consider myself someone with that expertise, I feel I have the right to suggest to beginning Sinatra (a new one enter's God's world every day) which is the best collection to introduce them into each phase of The Voice's career.
Now, like most hardcore Ol' Blue Eyes fans, I consider Sinatra's best period as an artist to be his tenure at Capitol Records. And like most fans, I consider the best introduction to that period is the three cd boxed set "The Capitol Years". However, that set may or may not be too pricey for beginning fans.
Now, those with that dilemma can hold themselves over with the 20 song, single disc "Classic Sinatra". Though nowhere near as concise the 75 song "The Capitol Years", "Classic Sinatra" boasts 20 songs that define Sinatra's style and artistic ability also boasts superior sound quality.
Among the clasics here are songs like "I've Got The World On A String", "I Get A Kick Out Of You", "I've Got You Under My Skin", "Witchcraft", "All The Way", "Come Fly With Me" and "Nice N' Easy", all songs which are instantly indentifiable with Sinatra because unmatchable ability to deliver a song. This goes evne moreso for songs like "My Funny Valentine" and "Someone To Watch Over Me", songs done contless times by numerous artists, yet it's always Sinatra's versions that are named definitive.
So while not as concise as its three disc predecssor, "Classic Sinatra" is still a solid introduction to The Greatest Artist Of All Time in his peak years.
Like a 45rpm disc.......2007-03-23
Should have been remastered but at that price I enjoyed crooning to my favorite lyrics.
My introduction into the world of Frank Sinatra........2007-01-23
My dad bought me this CD as a gift years ago. I didn't care for Frank at the time, but as I listened to this CD, I grew to love the music of Frank Sinatra. The time period this CD covers is during his years at Capitol Records, which is still my favorite label that he worked under. This CD is great - a lot of Sinatra classics when the man's voice was at his best. Fresh, chipper, and sharp. This is an excellent CD for someone who is new to Frank. I own the 4-CD disc set from his Capitol years as well, but this is a great little disc all on it's own.
This was my first Sinatra album..........2006-12-28
...and now I have got more than 20 albums by The Voice in my collection. I was into Rock and Jazz and never paid much attention to Sinatra, although I knew he was considered the best singer of the 20th century. When I heard this album I was absolutely shocked!!!. It is perfect!!! The voice, the songs, the arrangements, the sound... This album changed my life forever. After years ignoring Sinatra, I am such a big fan that my mother calls Him "your friend". Now I can only think about saving some money to buy more and more Sinatra albums!!!. Probably, if I had to select only 2 albums from my huge collection (more or less 1500 CDs and 500 vinyl LPs) this album would be the first, and the second would be some Bill Evans (the piano player, not the sax player).
I discovered Sinatra when a friend of mine, who is absolutely into Jazz, told me that Sinatra is his favourite singer of all times. And I thoug: "If me and Teo have more or less the same tastes in Jazz, I should try Sinatra". And this album was the perfect introduction to him.
So no doubts, if you are new to Sinatra, buy this album and you will so shocked that, like me, you won't stop buying more CDs by Him.
And I have to point something finally: I have read many of the reviews in amazon, recomending other albums or periods of 'ol blue eyes, but almost no one says nothing about his columbia years. I own the 4-CD box set "The best of the Columbia years (1943-1952)" and I think it is absolutely amazing. It contents mainly ballads, but Sinatra is in perfect voice, the arrangements by Axel Stordahl are fantastic, and the sound quality is quite good. Now I am listening to "The house I live in" and singing ...that's America to meeeee.
so BUY THIS ALBUM and you will changed forever!!!

GREAT ITEM.......2007-06-27
I ORDERED THIS ITEM FOR MY SON WHO LOVES DISNEY MUSIC. IT CAME IN GREAT CONDITION AND QUICKLY. LISTENING TO THE CD,S BRINGS BACK MEMORIES OF MY YOUNGER DAYS.
Slow shipping & Minor Damage.......2007-05-14
My kids (2 & 3 yrs.) like the music that they have heard before. There are many songs included that are less popular. If your kids are like mine, you will be hitting the "next" button frequently. I ended up burning a cd of the songs that they liked. This worked out well.
The Shipping was fairly slow. It took about two weeks (10 business days) to arrive through standard mail. This probably wouldn't have been so bad, but most of the other orders that I have placed through Amazon have arrived in 5 business days or less.
The product itself seemed to be damaged during manufacture. All of the CDs were lose in the cases. It appears that they didn't seat properly, and during the seating process the tines in the center of the case that hold the CDs in place were broken. None of the discs were damaged or scratched.
Grrrrrreat!.......2007-05-03
This is the best product for every Disney junkie, i LOVE it! It has just about every classic song ever made. I love it, and the price is VERY reasonable for 125 songs... it's a MUCH better deal than buying the other disney classic cd's individualy...so BUY IT!! like tigger says: ITS "GRRRRREEEAAAT!!!"

Customer Reviews:
Back In Time.......2007-05-16
Close your eyes and you're listening to records again in High School. Just as good as I had remembered. How sad that he died so young, so talented.
Great Album.......2007-03-23
Best compilation of his work that I could find. Excellent price as well.
"It's what we've done/That makes us what we are.".......2007-03-12
Jim Croce was at the peak of his talents when a tragic plane crash ended his life in 1973. The majestic "I Got A Name" had yet to be released, but when it did, it defined Jim Croce's short but brilliant stardom.
"Like a fool I am and I'll always be,
I've got a dream, I've got a dream.
The can change their minds, but they can't change me,
I've got a dream, I've got a dream.
I know I can share it if you want me to,
if you're going my way, I'll go with you."
That "I Got A Dream" was not written by Croce hardly matters...it defined a free spirit that looked for others to join him on his quest. Afterwards, "Time In A Bottle" was plucked for re-issue of from his first album as a memoriam to Croce, and has become a signature song of not just the artist, but the decade he came from.
That debut album, "You Don't Mess Around With Jim," and its title song introduced to Jim Croce by way of his first hit character song. Like so many of his other story songs, Croce managed to perfectly encapsulate blue collar folksongs with a dash of humor. Songs like "Rapid Roy," "Working at The Car Wash Blues" and yet another signature song, "Bad Bad Leroy Brown," were snappy and sing-a-long exact.
There was also that everyman who had just a hint of sadness around the edges. On "Operator," Croce debates the whys and hows of a relationship that has crumbled. He also wasn't always a romantic idealist, as "Lover's Cross" sends an ex-lover off with "I guess you wanted a super guy, or maybe a super God." (The realist is counter-balanced perfectly by the shy encounter in "I'll Have to Say I Love You In A Song.")
Croce's untimely death will always leave a question mark on where his muse would have ultimately led him. He seemed on a course that would have him paralleling the likes of James Taylor, Gordon Lightfoot or Cat Stevens as vanguards of seventies male singer-songwriters. With three albums that have maintained their integrity over 30 years of time's passage, this single disc "Classic Hits" culls together a life's work that will long remind us that Jim Croce became a folk icon not just because of his early departure, but because of the brilliance and accessibility of his work.
Leroy may have been bad but............2007-01-12
Jim Croce was a giant of music who tragically seems to have fallen beneath the cracks. Great CD and one loves YOU DON'T MESS AROUND WITH JIM and BAD BAD LEROY BROWN. We need more music like this and less rap to document that true urban experience.

Good-natured rock & roll wise guy Joe Walsh not only made a name for himself as guitarist for The Eagles and The James Gang, but he also had a successful solo career. Known for his self-deprecating sense of humor ("Life's Been Good") and his dirty guitar boogie (the pulsating "Rocky Mountain Way"), Walsh drew a fan base from those who were fond of the harder edge he gave to The Eagles. He was easily one of the better guitarists of his generation, not so much for flashy licks but for his rhythmic sensibilities and awareness of restraint and economy. Yet Walsh continued to view himself as an "Ordinary Average Guy." His keen self-awareness and his understanding of the importance of rock in the overall scheme of things was further evidenced in "A Life of Illusion." Even the title of this collection, Greatest Hits: Little Did He Know shows Walsh, for all of his talent, never lost sight of the fact that it's only rock & roll. The album also contains the memorable "Funk#49," "Bolero," and "Midnight Man." --Steve Gdula

FANTASTIC!!!.......2007-05-30
If you are a Joe Walsh fan you can't go wrong with this CD. It has the best of his awesome songs!!! GET IT!!!
Joe F'n Walsh.......2007-03-31
I give this album a five star just because Joe Walsh rocks. In '05 I saw the Eagles live at Gwinnett Arena in Atlanta. I was so close to the stage that I could tell you how many stomp boxes Joe had and which ones were turned on. He was incredible live. This is a great collection of his solo stuff. If it doesnt have what you want, then just like the Eagles, go buy all of the albums individually. I think one of the gems on the album is "Help me through the night" where it shows a softer side of Walsh with Glen Frey, Don Henley and Randy Meisner of the Eagles on 3 point back up vocal harmonies. Always killer, Always Walsh!
My Opinion.......2007-01-07
Joe Walsh is great, and this CD holds many of his greatest songs. My favorite song of his is "Life's Been Good", which is on this CD. Many of my other favorites are on it, too. It's a great addition to any collection.
Very Definitive Joe.......2006-08-25
This is a great album with all of the stuff that you want to hear on a greatest hits album with Joe Walsh. If you already own the first two albums, you will still be satisfied with this.
