Product Description
Perth's Gyroscope have just returned from LA after recording their sophomore album 'Are You Involved?' with legendary Producer - Mark Trombino (who has worked with Jimmy Eat World on 'Bleed American' & 'Clarity', The Living End's 'Modern Artillery', Blink 182's 'Dude Ranch'...to name but a few! Features the first single 'Fast Girl'. 'A triumphant shift into affable territory.. the Central Coast boys have managed to pour their collective heart into an album that could easily become one of the biggest hits of the year... Their songwriting and the vocals of Ben Windsor remain nationally representative in such a beautiful way that each song grows on you ten-fold with every listen.. In fact, there's almost no reason to run that stupid fu**ed up reality TV show to find a new singer for INXS, this band have the potential to leave a similar mark on this country's music scene..' It's been a long wait for the solo debut from Irish icon Dolores O'Riordan. After all, the Cranberries issued their swan song in 2001. After their break up, O'Riordan collaborated with Germany's Jam and Spoon, Italy's Zucchero, and David Lynch composer Angelo Badalamenti. She also appeared, as herself, in the 2006 comedy Click. All the while, she toiled away on her first solo effort. Fortunately, good things come to those who wait. Co-produced by Youth (the Verve, U2), Are You Listening? is a throwback to 1980s-era Siouxsie and the Banshees and Sinead O'Connor--sweeping keyboards, forceful drumming, and muscular guitar work. It may seem like a melodramatic move, but the music never overwhelms the slight yet steely figure at the center of the maelstrom, particularly on the lilting "Ordinary Day" and haunting "Black Widow." Cranberries fans expecting something more demure may be taken aback, but O'Riordan's supple voice should win over most skeptics. And lyrically, she compensates with tender words inspired by her husband ("Apple of My Eye"), the death of her mother-in-law ("Black Widow"), and the birth of her youngest child ("Ordinary Day"). --Kathleen C. Fennessy

WOW, what a comeback! EVERY SONG ROCKS!.......2007-07-13
EVEN without the Cranberries, this album is so rich who needs them!? I also love her as always unique voice that can easily be recognized! EVERY SONG ON THIS ALBUM IS GREAT! That is a rarity these days!
Good Cd!.......2007-07-06
It arrived in less than a week and in good condition. The music is a bit different than that of the Cranberries but to me it still does it. Dolores is a very talented artist and any real fan should have in their collection this cd!

What an amazing album. A great effort from the unique Limrick girl. I did like the Cranberries to some extent but this is much more a mture and outstanding effort.
The music is catchy and clean at the same time. My favorites are "Ordinary day", A beautifully written piece of art with tender words oozing with honesty. Rich melodies and easy flowing arrangements. The absolute stunner on the album is "Ecstasy", Once again beautifully written and produced. The lyrics are controversial but I'm sure one can understand what the lass is talking about! and the music is absolutely devine. I think this is the best song she has ever written! I'm hooked!!
The great thing about the album is that there isn't a bad song on it and you can listen to the whole album without skipping tracks, something very hard to find nowadays. I wish Dolores would be more widely promoted as the world deserves to know of her talent which is genuine and generous but unfortunately it's the manufactured Irish boy band Westlife with all their repititious hollow songs that are more clever with promotion and playing on a sickly boring image that seem to be the better sellers but then again, so are the likes of Britney and Crazy Frog!!!. Never mind Dolores, you have your loyal fan base and most of all, you know you're true to yourself. Both thumbs up!!
DOLORES HOW I WORSHIP THEE!!!!!!.......2007-06-29
GOD I LOVE THIS WOMAN!!!
She IS my favorite artist of all time. Of course I purchased her solo cd without having heard one song on it. Her first solo cd "ARE YOU LISTENING" is amazing. The cd is definitely Dolores throughout since she wrote every song. There's rock, alt rock, ballad, love songs -- something for everyone. Not to be crude, but Dolores could poop on a pancake, call it a cd, and I would buy it.
The cd starts out with "Ordinary Day" reminescent of her old Cranberrie days. Then you notice the change or "the growth" as she calls it.
"When We Were Young" is straight forward rock. I like that she's utilizing synthesizer now. Then the love song to her daughter "In The Garden" which has a harder, darker edge. Next, "Human Spirit" which I love because it's such an odd rendering. I believe she's added violins and a piccolo along with old fashioned tambourine. It is a likeable, odd kind of alt-rock song with almost a hint of Middle East to it.
Next, and OH MY GAWD comes my favorite song on her cd. It is the hard rocking and VERY, VERY catchy song, "Loser." Here she shows she still has that biting sarcastic sense of humor: "You think you're clever, but you haven't got a clue. A two watt light bulb is brighter than you." It is a great, straight-forward rock song. The next rock style song is "October." All of her up-tempo songs have strong catchy riffs, great production sound.
The other songs on the cd are mid-to-low tempo songs. The lyrics of these songs sometimes convey a sense of pain or loss -- probably due to events she's endured the last couple of years (multiple deaths of those close to her). The lyrics also convey at times her inner struggle with coping and accepting loss (if you're gone, why are you still here? Don't come near, I don't want to cry any more. Memories, illusion versus reality)
I've read some reviews that suggest Dolores' vocals can be annoying. But one of the things I like most about this woman is that she does NOT have tremendous vocal ability and she doesn't seek to hide that fact. Many of her songs rely on straight-forward vocal/falsetto/vocal/falsetto. Which gives her that unique lilting sound.
She has a new band behind her but she, as always, plays piano and guitar (so very, very well).
There are only 3 women in this world I have ever idolized or worshipped. First is Patti Smith, next Princess Diana (deceased), and Dolores O'Riordan. I will never forget the first time I saw Dolores on stage. A diminuitive elf of a creature playing a big guitar that made such a big, incredible sound, and then there's that unique voice.
I wish this cd was getting air play. I hope it does and that it is a successful solo venture for her so that she will continue to create music.
My world is truly such a better place because of this lovely little Irish musician/singer. I think if you bought the cd, you might just feel the same.

Amazon.com essential recording
As emblematic of its time as of its sorcerer-like creator, 1967's Are You Experienced unleashed Jimi Hendrix onto a world in the midst of such cultural and musical shakeups that it really didn't seem as "far out" as it actually was. It wasn't just Hendrix's virtuosic skill as a pure player that was so impressive; it was, even more, the range and scope of sheer sound that he coaxed, cajoled, and ripped out of his instrument. "Purple Haze," "Manic Depression," and "I Don't Live Today" filled ears with indelible sonic images, and songs like "Foxey Lady" and "Fire" pointed the way toward a new brand of rock-charged soul music. And how about a hand for drummer Mitch Mitchell? --Billy Altman

the best.......2007-06-17
This is probally the best JHE album ever relesed this is when they were at their prime its truly pure gold its a great classic album a true acid rock album that rocks! this album came out with some of jimi hendrixs best songs,
purple haze, hey joe, wind cries mary, fire etc. its a essential album if you do not have the whole album you need to get the full album now if you dont have it yet or inleast download it i mean c'mon. so if your new to the JHE then i suggest this album or the best of
divine inspiration.......2007-05-18
listening to 'hey joe' for the first time was a major milestone in my decidely short-lived musical career. When I attended the Berklee college of music, I cited this as a huge contributing factor to the genesis of my passion for music and the audio genre. I still listen to this from time to time and and become giddy at the unashamed, unstoppable vision of a very special man. This is considered one of the greatest albums of all time for reason folks. get it. listen to the genius and the pure art.
The Jimi album.......2007-05-15
This recording laid it down for Jimi Hendrix and in his short life in the spotlight, he never recorded a better album. I believe that he might have at least given this a run for the money down the road had he lived, but that's all speculation at this point.
The hits are here and there is surprisingly no filler. Even though it came out during the zenith of the psychedelic craze, it is far less trippy than Electric Ladyland two years later. The focus of this record is thoroughly blues, r'n'b, and rock based. Even Third Stone From The Sun has enough of a point and vibe to not succumb to the obvious psychedelic theme. The additional tracks mostly lifted from Smash Hits are a nice bonus, especially Red House, one of his greatest songs.
This is the definitive Hendrix album and one of the most important rock records because it introduced this phenomenal artist and his shocking and spectacular guitar brilliance which continues to provide inspiration for guitarists today. Without Hedrix, you can write off dozens of famous guitarists to come in his wake who tried to recreate just some of his magic. If there is one necessary Hendrix album (and there are only a few in total), this is it.
I Am Now Experienced. Are You?.......2007-04-13
Today I was going through my dad's old LPs and Are You Experienced caught my eye, before this I had only heard the biggest cover songs(Purple Haze, Hey Joe, Fire etc.) When I brought it up to him and told him I had never heard it he gave a shocked expression, as our record player no longer works I had to go out and buy the C.D. Afterwards my dad went into a whole story on how he went to see The Experience at The Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco and afterwards he got to shake Mitch Mitchell's hand.( Our last name is Mitchell so that's kinda cool) Some of tthe best guitar riffs i've ever heard are on this album. I also enjoyed the balance of different music styles in the album, Hard Rock( Fire, Manic Depression, Foxey Lady, Purple Haze), Blues( Red House)and Ballads( The Wind Cries Mary). In conclusion I reccomend to anyone who appreciates REAL music not the new fake s*** they put on MTV.
Also reccomended: Band of Gypsys, later work of Hendrix if you don't have the means of finding the album at least download Machine Gun.
Cheers
Excellent Debut, Excellent Re-issue.......2007-03-12
This album was originally released in 1967, yet its still brimming with raw vitality and brilliance. This edition was released in 1997, and its still a shining example of how to do a re-issue.
First off, the music itself is timeless. Who hasn't heard "Foxy Lady," "Hey Joe" or "Purple Haze"? Tracks 1-11 represent the breadth of what was the original US LP version of the album. And man, is it great. There's variety galore in this. From the tender approach on "The Wind Cries Mary" to the psychedelic jazz-like excursion of "Third Stone From The Sun," there are plenty of avenues that this album embarks on. This ain't no blues rock plodfest. This is an experience in and of itself.
But wait, there's more!
Tracks 12-17 are the 1997 bonus tracks; some were originally on the UK but not US version of the album, while others stem from other sources. But, unlike some bonus tracks that only sully the content of the album, these go along quite well with the first 11 songs. Certain songs, like "Stone Free," are bursting with energy. Others have a bluesier vibe but its actually rather refreshing to hear that after the mindblowing nature of the album.
And the packaging itself is quite commendable. Long (albeit tremendously sycophantic) liner notes, lyrics and release dates for the songs. Well done!
Is there anything bad? Well, if psychedelic rock isn't your thing, you might not particularly like the album anyway.
Overall, this is a great example of a re-issue. They restore the album, add bonus material that compliments the original work and give us the best liner notes possible. Oh, and the CD itself has a groovy design as well.
A must-have!

There are worse things in life than making your acting debut on the much ballyhooed season finale of Ally McBeal, though teen operatic baritone Josh Groban doesn't seem destined to encounter them anytime soon. As the awkward high school student-client who asks the typically romance-jinxed Ally to his senior prom, Groban performed this debut album's "You're Still You" (adapted from film-composing legend Ennio Morricone's Academy Award-nominated score for Malèna, with lyrics by Linda Thompson) as a heart-tugging, literal showstopper. The young phenom was just 17 when veteran producer-writer David Foster tapped him to fill in for Andrea Bocelli at rehearsals for the 1999 Grammys, where Groban found himself suddenly dueting with Celine Dion.
Indeed, such were his fortunes that the young Foster protégé was forced to drop out of Carnegie Mellon when professional commitments--including this record--interfered. And if this collection tends to hew sometimes uncomfortably close to Foster's own MOR sonic instincts, the material offers enough challenges to display Groban's talent and the potential of his warm, mature voice: a lyrical take on another Morricone classic, "Cinema Paradiso"; melancholy readings of Don McLean's "Starry, Starry Night" and Albert Hammond's "Alejate"; masterfully dramatic takes of the Neapolitan "Alla Luca Del Sole" and "Canto Alla Vita," the latter featuring the Corrs. Many of Groban's performances here, including a neo prog-rock-opera take on Bach's "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" (with Lili Haydn), seem both bigger and bolder than their precious musical frameworks, a telling hint that Grand Opera can't be far from his grasp. As said earlier, there are worse things in life. --Jerry McCulley

superb.......2007-07-05
What a voice, what an artist, what a man.
Underestimated in Europe. His concert on 21 May 2007 in Amsterdam was superb!
Oh my Gosh, Josh!.......2007-07-03
I love Josh Groban's music! It is romantic, mellow and beautiful :)
This CD has two songs on it that are very unusual. I believe both are from Cirque de Soleil, and draw you into the music--warning-- While driving, do not close your eyes!
a true star.......2007-06-24
First saw and heard Josh on the Tv and was blown away by his talent! it was about a year later that I found out who he was and bought the first album and can honestly say that I have never tired of his work. Every song is magical and he is truely wonderful. Have since purchased all his work and have also had the priviledge of seeing him live in concert in Glasgow/Scotland and was amazed. such a talented young man with a truely magical voice
Floodgates of the Heart.......2007-06-05
This CD played almost constantly in my wife's car for several years. Josh Groban's voice is so gentle and can go from gentleness to anthematic, almost operatic, textures. He sings in Italian effortlessly. The orchestration on "Cinema Paradiso" is enthralling with its emotional reach, powerful even with lyrics beyond my understanding. "To Where You Are" is one of the most gorgeous songs. Knowing how it moved my wife in the years before breast cancer proved stronger than her body, it touches me now, "Fly me up to where you are beyond the distant star I wish upon tonight to see you smile, if only for awhile to know you're there; a breath a ways to where you are." The song opens the floodgates of my heart. The Corrs were on Groban's 143 label when this release came out in 2001 and join him on the upbeat "Canto Alla Vita." Groban makes an interesting selection with Don McLean's "Vincent," polishing the melody to a fine sheen in ways that surpassed the original. Listening to Bach's "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" is like being in a sonic cathedral with Groban's voice matching the grandeur of the music. With Charlotte Church on "The Prayer," Groban concludes the set with the Carole Bayer Sager/David Foster composition that makes one contemplate the eternal, "Lead us to a place, find us with your grace, give us faith so we'll be safe." Groban's first CD enhances with repeated listening by virtue of the depth of musicianship and performance. I listen to it now hearing the music that moved the one I love to tears. It does the same for me. I hope it touches you too. Bravo!

Elizabeth Mitchell is to children's music what a band like True Love is to indie rock: an insider's darling. Which can only mean one thing: any day now, she's going to blow up huge. You Are My Little Bird, Mitchell's third kids' CD and her first on the well-respected Smithsonian Folkways label, hews closely to the folkie-but-never-hokey sensibility she laid out so beautifully on the first two records. Here are 17 short, soft, sweet, homespun-sounding songs, some of them easily recognizable ("Peace Like a River," "Three Little Birds," "Down in the Valley"), some of them inexplicably obscure (Neil Young's "Little Wing," Gillian Welch and David Rawling's "Winter's Come and Gone," Francois Hardy's magical "If You Listen"). Throughout, even on tracks where her young daughter joins in, Mitchell's warm whisper of a voice compels a close listen, not just because the production is so spare you can practically feel her breath on your cheek but because there's something in her phrasing that suggests an old, wise soul. Miraculously, the bird concept never gets clunky; two exotic foreign-language songs--one Korean and one Japanese--help, but the real credit belongs to this all-around superb disc's sole stab at the subversive: Mitchell's stamp on "What Goes On," the Velvet Underground favorite, practically sails off the disc with its sunniness. --Tammy La Gorce

Perfect for kids/adults alike..........2007-07-08
We love this album! It has a fabulous folk sound and I enjoy it as well as the kids as the tunes are not condescending to children. The album consists of a variety of classics including a few from other cultures. Mitchell's voice is lovely and unpretentious. A perfect album to any children's collection.
Another great choice for kids and adults!.......2007-06-24
This is another great album by Elizabeth Mitchell. We have several of her CD's now and they are filled with songs that your kids will enjoy and so will you. Mitchell's voice has such a nice quality to it and your kids will want to sing along to this collection. If you're looking for something different that won't make you feel like you want to stick a screwdriver in your ear (like some of the music geared toward the preschool set), then this is a great choice.
Hasn't left our CD changer since we got it.......2007-06-05
My 3-year-old and I first found Elizabeth Mitchell when I bought her fantastic CD with Lisa Loeb, "Catch the Moon," so I was excited to hear she had a new release. My daughter loves it so much, this CD hasn't left the changer in my car since I got it last year. And best of all, Mommy likes to listen to it, too.
I adore this CD .......2007-05-19
This is our third Elizabeth Mitchell CD, and I cannot get enough of it. All of her songs are so melodic and soothing. I appreciate the history of the music as well. Ms. Mitchell tells why she chose the songs she did on the insert included with the CD. She points to the great singers and songwriters of our past and helps us see how the music then is still relevant and enjoyable today. I highly recommend all of her CDs, you will not be disappointed.

We helped the Easter Bunny buy this for our daughter. She's 7, and our middle one, so new kids' music is a must every now and again. This is a lovely album.

Elizabeth Mitchell is a smidge less locked into the no-frills folkie formula on You Are My Sunshine than on her debut, You Are My Flower. In fact, if you subtract the A-list collaborators (and, OK, the dulcimers, mandolins, and human beat boxes), Mitchell starts to look a lot like the female Dan Zanes. The same rootsy sensibility rules both artists' recordings, as does a reverence for tried-and-true folk tunes ("Good Night Irene," "Skip to My Lou") and clean production. More significantly, slivers of Zane-like adventurousness shine through here: "Alphabet Dub" set the ABCs to a reggae beat; "Hey Bo Diddley" tips its hat to the rock & roll pioneer; and the kids are called in to spice up "Crawdad." Counting kids' artists who are genuinely cool still requires fewer than 10 fingers, but with Flower and Sunshine, Mitchell proves she's among the elite. --Tammy La Gorce

Charming, Catchy, Timeless Tunes you WANT to have in your head all day!.......2007-07-13
I love this album, and her other two also. I listen to her music in the car sometimes when I don't even have a child around! Elizabeth Mitchell's voice is amazing. The guitar music accompaniment is great. There are multiple songs on her discs that have become a permanent part of our bedtime song ritual. My son especially loves "Ladybug Picnic", and I like her version of "3 is the Magic Number". For all parents annoyed by obnoxious kids music, this album is a wonderful oasis.
lovely listening.......2007-04-13
I bought this when I was looking for something that my 2.5 year-old daughter and I could both enjoy. It's been a big hit for our daily commute.
happy, gentle music.......2007-01-10
I find Elizabeth Mitchell's voice very soothing and pretty, and my kids like it too. Great for car rides.
Love it!.......2006-12-31
I started singing You Are My Sunshine to my son when he was born(07-29-06) so I thought I should get a cd with the song on it and this version is the best. I keep it in the car mainly and when he starts getting a little fussy I pop in the cd song number 9 and he quiets right down and falls asleep. Its a godsend.
You Are My Sunshine.......2006-12-22
I heard this song on the series finale of Queer As Folk and I thought it was fantastic. On the cd I purchased this version is unnumbered and the last track. Elizabeth is a fantastic folk artist and as President and CEO for the reactivated Cashbox Magazine I am looking for her to move forward in her career.

Album Description
Hayley Westenra's new album Odyssey was always going to be a different proposition to Pure, the record-breaking 2003 collection which marked her international debut. A lot has happened to the young New Zealander over the past two or three years--and those changes are clearly reflected by a record which encapsulates her growth from a budding teenage prodigy into a mature young woman.
Now, at 18, Hayley is ready to show the world how much she has grown up, both as an artist and as an individual. Fans of Pure will be pleasantly surprised by her new album. Her wonderful voice retains its crystal-clear purity, but Westenra's singing is now richer and more rounded than before. Touring the world and singing in some of its greatest concert venues, such as the Sydney Opera House, Royal Albert Hall, and Carnegie Hall, has worked wonders for her confidence. Suitably emboldened, she has embraced an even wider range of musical styles including classical, hymns, folk and pop.
"I was happy with Pure at the time, but I've moved on so much," says Hayley. "It's really exciting to have something new out there for people to listen to. I wanted to make a record that represented me as a person. And I think I've improved as a vocalist."
Variety is certainly one of the keywords with Hayley's new album. When she first entered a recording studio in New Zealand as a 12-year-old, Westenra restricted herself to classical pieces and show tunes. Now, in addition to impressive takes on classical works, Hayley uses her new album to perform an inspired cover of Joni Mitchell's "Both Sides Now" and has arranged and written much of the material. "I like to push myself, and I'm now confident enough to try different things. I have been much more involved behind the scenes with this album--I wanted to put my individual stamp on each song."
With her career stretching out promisingly before her, Hayley is also keen to continue experimenting. She is still primarily a classical crossover artist but she also wants to keep broadening those musical horizons. Three years after her international debut CD, Hayley Westenra is still pure: she exudes pure quality and she remains pure class--but her musical journey continues with her new album Odyssey.
Customer Reviews:
Wonderful melodies.......2007-06-08
This is a wonderful CD with beautiful melodies. Hayley Westenra has a very pure voice and sings right on key. The melodies are very relaxing and the musical settings are well arranged.
Hayley Westenra - Odyssey.......2007-06-08
Pure, crystalline, angelic voice. Gorgeously produced. "Prayer" is stunning. "Both Sides Now" wonderful. The rest is good but not her best song selection. When I first heard this girl on the "Celtic Woman" tour I was totally blown away. None of her CDs will disappoint!
Very soothing.......2007-05-14
Hayley Westenra's Odyssey is a very beautiful CD. If you switch on your walkman and listen to the CD's tracks non-stop, you'll soon feel like you're flying in Heaven. It's very soothing and heavenly. It calms you down, without causing you to feel lonely or sad because you're listening to it in solitary, like other vocal or classical songs do sometimes.
I would definitely recommend it to anyone interested. Quanta Qualia and Ave Maria are my most favourite tracks. Quanta Qualia is pure magic! I really feel as if I'm flying in Heaven when I listen to it.
very good pop singer voice.......2007-05-13
the selections were tasteful and varied. the singer has a very good pop singer voice. i would have liked some voice variation between songs. all were sung in exactly the same style. good singing but without tonal variation the disk tends to be bland. i hope that as she gets more exposure she will vary her voice to make the songs stand out individually instead of letting them blend into one song on the disc. i would rate this 5 stars except for that major fault.
Voice & level head deserve high marks .......2007-04-20
Not only has Hayley Westenra's voice remained "pure", but her good sense and sensibilty has stayed intact when so many similar young performers have gone over the deep end with extreme behavior and disreputable remarks. On this CD Miss Westernra covers a number of songs in her own special style, such as excellent versions of "Prayer", "May It Be" and "Both Sides Now". I hope to hear her renditions of more such tunes, old and new. I would like to hear her sing songs like "Yesterday", "I Still Believe in Love" and All I Know. She has a way with her soaring vocals that never lets the listener down.

The great irony of John Barry's Academy Award-winning score for Out of Africa (which also took the Oscar as Best Picture) is that it almost never was; director Sydney Pollack had originally envisioned the film with native African music, going as far as laying the indigenous score down as he was editing. But the weight of John Barry's arguments--not to mention his considerable track record and composing gifts--held sway, and the composer delivered on his intent: a lush, romantic masterpiece for the ages. --Jerry McCulley

Simply beautiful.......2007-01-11
Out of Africa is a CD with beautiful music. When I listen to it, I imagine myself in the nature of Africa. You will enjoy it!
CD has missing track.......2006-12-03
John Barry's compositions are pleasantly sweeping. There's nothing wrong with this album, just not really enough to recommend it.
I was puzzled to learn that some time between my buying the LP record and the issuing of this CD, the track "The Music of Goodbye (love theme from Out of Africa)" was omitted. It's not that this song, sung by Melissa Manchester, is a must-have; it's more that it's sneaky to leave off tracks when you reissue a soundtrack in another format.
Disappointed.......2006-11-10
I absolutely love the music from Out of Africa, but I do not recommend this CD at all. The sound quality is so poor that I could only bear listening to it once.
Worth Buying!.......2006-11-06
Highly recommended for those who love instrumental music. A lot of beautiful flute, strings and some piano and harp. Very contemplative and hauntingly beautiful music.

Album Description
Are You Lookin' at Me? is Colin Hay's first studio album of new material in over five years. A tuneful, insightful meditation on life, love, sobriety, maturity and perseverance, the album finds Hay at the absolute peak of his craft. As a writer and vocalist, he has never been more masterful: finding intriguing new angles on instantly relatable scenarios, skewering and savoring in equal measure. His less acclaimed but no less formidable skills as arranger, engineer and bandleader insure that each song is supported by evocative musical backdrops ranging from electronic textures to plaintive acoustic balladry to classic guitar-driven pop. Are You Lookin' at Me? is unified by Hay's immediately identifiable voice, relentless curiosity, wonder and a decidedly uncluttered sound which has its roots in Hay's consistently busy tour schedule.
Customer Reviews:
J.Merritt is right! .......2007-06-07
Try listening to Men at Work and feeling sad. It is NOT possible. Colin Hay has a voice and an attitude to cheer. My only gripe is that "Looking for Jack" is currently unavailable. Another great album from a singer with his mind on the pulse. Buy this and his other by-passed albums and feel refreshed! More please Colin!
The sun always shines in angel town!.......2007-05-31
Colin's new cd is great. This is the kind of CD you can kick off your shoes and hang out, cook, dance, bathe too. He has a raspy sexy voice (sorta reminds me of Huey Lewis a little). Some of his songs are deep and moving- but most of the songs are on the same page- so if easy listening is what you are looking for and need an even keeled, even-tempered cd then this might be the perfect one. Most the songs are great, musically and lyrically. His raspy voice seems to soak up lyrics like a sponge, and his lyrics swell with his voice. A few songs are a little weaker than others. Midnight Sun is not a favorite of mine, but it's still simple, easy, and just plain good music to chill to.
Colin Hay does it again !!!.......2007-05-29
As a devoted follower of Colin's Work, it sounded a little more reserved than a typical Colin Hay album. He doesn't go for it as much with his voice, it tends to have more of a relaxed feel to it. That isn't a bad thing at all. The album version of the title track "Are You Looking At Me?" is very good. I heard him sing it live at a show in Belfast and I was blown away.
Since my trip to see him live in Belfast earlier this year I've been looking forward to the arrival of this album. It didn't disappoint either. A nice mix of tunes and another fine album to add to my personal Colin Hay Discography at home. I'd highly recommend you purchase this album. Also, If you want to hear Colin at what I would class as his most powerful, Then buy his album "Wayfaring Sons" or why not buy them all :-)
Colin Hay deserves your attention.......2007-05-19
I bought this album at a Colin Hay concert in Sellersville, PA and was lucky enough to have Colin sign the CD. When we spoke he said that "this is the best of my records" and I didn't think much of it because of course he isn't going to say anything different.
The CD has been in my car ever since, and I can say that Colin nailed this album. The album isn't typical Hay; it is a bit more produced but not overly so, and has more pop melodies than most of his ballad-centric albums. The record sounds like a mixture of David Gray and Elvis Costello. The tunes are catchy and I have been going around saying "Are you looking at me, pal?" and "What would Bob do, what would Bob do?"
So, I highly recommend this album if you like witty, charming and mature songwriters who can carry a tune. Also: see him in concert if you can.
ONE OF THE BEST IN A FIRST CLASS DISCOGRAPHY.......2007-05-17
This is a great album all the way around. I would compare the laid back acoustic sets to "Man At Work". These songs are all new and original though. The lyrics are deep and meaningful, the music classic and the sound pristine. Highly recommended to all Colin Hay fans and highly recommend to all that have yet to discover his genius and charm.

It's no secret that life's darkest moments often place us face-to-face with whatever, or wherever, we've placed our faith. That is the emotional climate listeners will find themselves in with Third Day's Wherever You Are, the band's eighth major release and a transparent and stark portrayal of where one finds the reason to carry on. Dealing with a number of recent personal tragedies, the band has forged its finest work to date with a collection of material that ranges from raging rockers to contemplative worship songs. The release opens with the take-no-prisoners urgency of "Tunnel" and finds singer Mac Powell offering hope in the face of difficulty and backed by the driving guitar work of Brad Avery and Mark Lee. The first single, "Cry Out to Jesus," simmers in a lyrical candor that can't help but be an emotional powerhouse as the song is carried by the band's rocking spirit. "I Can Feel It" is another wall-of-sound, guitar storm guaranteed to move you. Worship roots remain strong (see Offerings and Offerings II) as well for Third Day and we can find them on the reflective "Communion." Never ones to back down from the delicate issues, Third Day tackles church hypocrisy and judgmental attitudes with the searing "How Do You Know." The passion and talent of Third Day shines brightly here, making it the band's finest moment and one of Christian rock's best releases in recent memory. --Michael Lyttle

'Yes, I must go through the valley, to stand upon the mountain of G-d'-"Mountain of G-d".......2007-07-08
'EVEN THOUGH I KNOW THE JOURNEY'S LONG AND THE ROAD IS HARD, You're the One who's gone before me, You will help me carry on. And after all that I've been through, now I know the Truth, that I must go through the valley to stand upon the mountain of G-d.'
Yes, not very original lyrics, but to a christian, this long journey symbolizes life's troubles, the valley, the darkest, worst times or even then on the spiritual plane, just boring or lifeless. And G-d is always with us if we are true to Him in all aspects of our lives. This song has become my rallying cry.
At first I was extremely disappointed with the music, but I gradually warmed up to it, and now I can't stop playing it. The words from "Cry Out to Jesus" first spoke to me in my car one day, after having heard it several times, half listening to the words. The chorus, especially speaks of what Christ offers to everyone and what christianity as the body of Christ should offer to others: 'There is hope for the helpless, rest for the weary, love for the broken heart. There is grace and forgiveness, mercy and healing to meet you wherever you are. Cry out to Jesus' And with Jesus as our high priest, who suffered all things as written in Hebrews chapter 5, we should 'Just remember that you're not alone in your shame or your suffering' as one struggles with one's own sins.
I love too, "Communion", the lyrics of which consist of most of the few words which are spoken every Sunday, before communion. The song is very repetitive, but the few words which are semi-original, I love, and the way the song is arranged and sung is very simple but very beautiful: 'I will remember everything of old that You did for me. I won't take for granted the sacrifice that set me free. We hunger and thirst for You Lord, and Your Righteousness. We long for Your presence here Lord. Be with us again.' I love that song and the very obvious lyrics for the chorus: 'This is the body, this is the blood, broken and poured out, for all of us, and in this communion, we share in His love. This is the body, this is the blood.'
"Tunnel" which gets a lot of airplay on the radio reminds me of my dad's sister who was murdered who said much the same thing but in a different way. "It's always darkest before the dawn," she'd always say.
I do love this recording, but as usual I'm 2 years late; Third Day has a more recent CD out.
'Sometimes I think of where it is I've come from, and the things I left behind, but of all I have, what I possess, nothing can quite compare to What's in front of me, to What's in front of me'. -"Mountain of God"
A Hip Contemporary Christian Rock Band.......2007-05-13
I am not a born again. I happened upon this group one day while channel surfing the radio stations. What a great album! If you like pop/rock music, why not listen to some with a positive message?
They have done better........2007-03-28
Third Day is capable of producing some high energy food stomping rock and roll as well as gut wrenching soul searching profound music. On this cd, they did neither. If music were a shotgun, they forgot to take the safety off. The band sounds like they are going through the motions. Ive listened to the disc a few times and there are no memorable guitar moments..something the band is known for. Mac Powell's voice sounds in good form, but the lyrics are far too predictable. There are many points on this disc where, even on your first listen, you hear a line and you can accurately predict the next one.
Some typical lyrics:
1) "There's a light at the end of this tunnel for you"
2) "I will soar with the wings of eagles, I will learn to fly high above this world"
3)"They've done all they can to make it right, still its not enough"
4) "Memory warns you of the past, when it all went wrong"
5) "After all that Ive been through, now I realize that I must go through the valley to stand upon the mountain of God"
Yes, these themes are things we need to remember from time to time, but we've heard all this thousands of times before. There is nothing wrong with presenting time tested and familiar themes, but it would help if a new angle was presented so perhaps we could see a truth in a way that is more eye opening than we are used to. These lyrics are just too generic to be eye opening. Im sure these songs have brought comfort to some who have needed it, and for that the band deserves some credit. But this disc certainly wont be remembered as a creative milestone.
Third Day.......2007-03-24
I love this. I listen to it on my way to work because it puts me in a great frame of mind!
Third Day Has Done It Again!.......2007-02-16
Third Day continues to be one of the best bands of any genre. This album is not only musically fantastic, but it's message is so uplifting. It is a great gift for someone who has been going through a rough time, or a great addition to any CD collection!
