Talk about ubiquitous stars. Between his role on TV's General Hospital and his No. 1 hit, "Jessie's Girl," Rick Springfield was everywhere you looked in the beginning of the 1980s. With "Jessie's Girl," Springfield hadn't yet become a star in the U.S., and he sang it with an urgency, begging to be taken seriously; by the time of his "Human Touch" single, that's the last thing that was happening. Like most teen idols, Springfield became a caricature of himself. However, there is something redeeming about the unabashed bubblegum glory of "Don't Talk to Strangers," and "Affair of the Heart." I am thirteen and my mom and dad listen to rick springfield. Me, being an offspring of 2 of the biggest rick fans, love this CD by far. This is an amazing CD, and you can always get the other ones cheap. If you are a fan of ricks this CD is totally for you ;)

Of all of Rick Springfield's best of and compliations, this is my favorite. It has a little bit of everything you want to hear, is fun to listen to and is reasonably prices. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would.

Better than you might think........2006-04-16

I'm sure when most people think of Rick Springfield they think one-hit-wonder. "Jessie's Girl" was indeed one of the best songs of the 80's. Even I wasn't expecting to know much when I got this, yet track after track I kept saying, "I know this song", and usually knew it well. My personal favorites here would have to be "Love Somebody", "I've Done Everything For You", "Don't Talk To Strangers", and the great "Affair Of The Heart". Many others are as good, and the only song here I don't like much is "Celebrate Youth". There's just no hook on that one. Maybe it was just the era, but Rick had the ability to sound new wave on one song, pop on another, and just rock on many. After a listen to this collection, I think it's easy to see he was at least a ten-hit-wonder.

Where's "Honeymoon in Beirut"?.......2005-02-18

If you're going to release an album called Rick Springfield's Greatest Hits, how do you omit his greatest hit?

"Honeymoon in Beirut" is by far the best song the guy did --

It's like when people talk about the Police's Synchronicity album and they say "Every Breath You Take" is the best song --

Hello? "Tea in the Sahara" is the song that exemplifies what that album was about.........anyway.........

Rick had a lot of great songs, but to leave out his best one and put some of the clunkers that are on this album is inexcusable.

Nice collection of hits for the casual Springfield fan........2004-04-20

This 18 song cd will give the casual Rick Springfield fan a good sample of his work. However the new "anthology" cd is a better bargin, 3 cd's for under $25. If you do order this compilation though you won't be sorry. I had the earlier audio cassette version years ago and wore it out.

A Great Collection Of Rick Springfield's Hits!.......2004-07-09

I was browsing in my local music store and noticed this excellent collection of Rick Springfield hits. I always liked Rick Springfield's music, especially his eighties material for which the bulk of this collection focuses on. It includes all his hits such as Jessie's Girl, I've Done Everything For You, Affair Of The Heart, Love Is Alright Tonight, Human Touch, Don't Talk To Strangers, Bop 'Til You Drop plus 12 more songs. This is a pretty complete collection of his hits at a very reasonable price (I paid close to what Amazon sells this disc for) and it's also an import.

Great music brings back the early 80's.......1999-02-17

Ricky is a legend. Having a girlfriend and listening to the music brings back memories. My little sister Michelle had a huge crush on him. So I gave her the pull out picture that came with it. She Loved it. It's got all of his best tracks. So don't miss your opportunity to buy this GREAT cd.

Great collection of 80s pop/rock.......2005-11-10

Whilst critics will always pan Rick Springfield as a light weight throwaway, what they may fail to realise is that he can write some of the most cleverly crafted pop/rock you are likely to hear.

This album is a testimony to Rick's song writing skills. There are more hooks and catchy choruses here than your average starlet today could even dream of writing.

All the hits are here:

- Affair of the heart
- Don't Talk to strangers etc.

My only beef is that they didn't include the excellent "Written in Rock" track. Maybe next time.....

Buy it if you love great 80's pop/rock

The music on the cd is all the wonderful songs we loved in the 80's from Rick, but the sound quality is not the greatest in the world. I would recommend one of the new digitally remastered versions instead. A good cd, but needed some work in production.

A very good start to replacing his albums you have on vinyl, yes, I said vinyl, or to get an introduction to his diverse stylings. An excellent overview of his early to mid-career works.

Every single song is so great on this CD,since they have compiled that what is necessary to really get to know this musical wonder.

This is a great sampling of Rick's music. It has some of his best known, but also some great tracks that you don't hear on the best ofs, like Calling All Girls and Dance This World Away. I love it and highly recommend it!
