Writer/director James L. Brooks' warm-hearted comedy revolves around the culture clashes spawned when an L.A. family (headed by Adam Sandler and Tea Leoni) take in a Mexican maid (Paz Vega) and her daughter. As he's done for previous collaborations with Brooks on As Good As It Gets and I'll Do Anything, composer Hans Zimmer conjures up a smartly effervescent musical score that stands in stark contrast to the McAction film bombast that has too often made his reputation. His light-hearted, sometimes bittersweet orchestral score tips its cross-cultural concerns from the opening bars of the title track, which sets the delicate flourishes of a solo flamenco guitar against the starched rhythms of a chamber string ensemble. Guitarist and longtime Zimmer collaborator Heitor Pereira furthers that gambit with his self-written "John Comes Home," a delightful cue that cross-pollinates the waltz and tango with deceptive breeziness. Co-stars Cloris Leachman and Ian Hyland close the inviting soundtrack out with a spirited rendition of Gershwin's "They Can't Take Away From Me." --Jerry McCulley

Wonderful story.
Great message for over-achieving self-centered soccer moms.
3 masterpieces again!Zimmer read this post! .......2005-01-18
I'm a great Zimmer fan.Since Days of thunder.
In 1997 zimmer composed 3 masterpieces.Peacemaker(please get expanded score)As good as it gets and Prince of egypt.
This past year zimmer do it again.3 masterpieces:
1.King arthur(the best crimson tide-esque score to date. With the best of prince of egypt, backdraft, gladiator and ronin from last samurai)
2-The last samurai(the best the thin red line-esque.Amazing score, but with horrible action parts(some additional arranger failed here eheheh)
3.Spanglish(be best nine months-esque.his clear inpirations the brig track from Road to el dorado and Nyah from spanglish.)
I'm a little bit dissapointed for the use of so many additionals arrangers.Specially in spanglish.Because I want apreciate note by note and Know is composed by Hans. But well...i guess is the price to be a genius like zimmer is.
I hope next year zimmer composed a great score with orchestra for madagascar and i hope the best for batman begins.
But i want make a Wish....."zimmer please leave so many aditional arrangers in your scores.Maybe in this way Golden globoe or oscar will go to your hands"
My favourite zimmer are:Prince of egypt, beyond rangoon,Peacemaker,Last samurai, broken arrow,as good as it gets and k2.
thanks for all your music and I hope some day You put a pic of Zoe and your miniZ's in one of your cd releases.I want to know how beautyfull Zoe is!!!!!!
Hans, congrats on a job well done.......2005-01-17
Dear Hans,
Thanks so much for the gift that you've given to all of us as film score fans to kick off the year 2005. Spanglish is your most delicate score to date, and it's absolutely fabulous. It's music that really supports the movie rather than distracts from it, making the images and relationships on the screen stronger. I love the way you've fused a Spanish flavor into the romantic orchestra music without making it seem overly obvious or cliched. The score worked for me in much the same way the film did... It began nicely enough, and as it approached the end, it had subtly grabbed at my heart, and I knew all the themes. Then, in your "Bus Stop" finale, when the orchestra really soared in a gorgeous way with them, it was almost enough to make me cry. That may sound a bit wimpy, I know, but it was music I could really feel, it touched me. Thanks. I enjoy the more masculine electronically-enhanced action scores you've done, of course, but it's great to hear you dive into a gentle, light, touching, purely orchestral score. I really believe you've grown stronger and more mature as a composer in recent years. 2003's "Tears of the Sun" was a mixed experiment, but the production values were stunning, I adored the quirky Mathcstick Men, and "The Last Samurai" ranks as one of your career highlights in my mind. "King Arthur" and "Thunderbirds" were also a load of fun. I saw on IMDB you have five (?) films slated for this year. Here's hoping each one of those scores gets a release, I'm sure they'll be worth my money. Thanks again for Spanglish, and for all your great scores. I look forward to hearing from you again soon.

Product Description
Another trip into the sublime & sardonic world of Tan Sleeve. From the opening trip-hop Buffalo Springfield-meets-Walker Brothers 'Equidistant' to the Fred Neil-esque "It Doesn't Snow In New York Anymore", Steinberg & Barry cover more ground in forty-odd minutes than Moses wandering the desert for forty odd years. A keeper for the ages. One where repeated listenings reap deepening rewards.

London Bus Stop can really get you moving. Great CD for working out.
No one can rock a microphone quite like Bus Stop........2001-12-03
From their impressive debut with Dance Dance Revolution, Bus Stop has been living up to their reputation as one of the phattest remix/MC combos in music. Taking classic crowd-pleasing favorites like Carl Douglas's "Kung Fu Fighting" or T-Rex's "Bang A Gong", Bus Stop adds their own innovative lyrical and musical twist, with their trademark thumping backbeat and mad lyrical styling. The "Na Na Na Na" solo on "Na Na Hey Hey" is one of the more amazing vocals I've ever heard, and Bus Stop's subtle twist on the chorus of "Bang A Gong, Get It On" to "Get It On, Bang A Gong" is just genius. A must-buy for everyone on your wish list, and everyone else too!

Pretty good. . ........2007-01-12
I bought the New Jersey Kings 'Stratosphere Breakdown' a month or two ago and my head came off my body and bounced around the room. And so naturally I was way anxious to get my mitts on 'Party to the Bus Stop' for more funky goodness. Got it in the mail a week or two ago.
This album was recorded before Stratosphere and you can definitely tell. The band is still having a freakout good time as are you, the listener. But the grooves are nowhere near as tight; the melodies nowhere near as concise. In addition, the album, production and engineering-wise, sounds like a live show which isn't bad but you sacrifice that polished studio groove. So I's a little disappointed.
These musicians are VERY talented but I know they are capable of much more, and not that the improv is no good here, but the songs are not as thought-out. Many of them sound like the others on the album.
It's a nice jam but I wouldn't pay the 30 bucks again. Just say funk it and go buy Stratosphere Breakdown.
How did I go so long without hearing this?.......2004-08-13
This sounds like an old-school Prestige or BlueNote Records session from 69'-72'. Funky as hell and groovin' all over the place! If you can find this one grab it FAST! Also get the King's next one called "Stratosphere Breakdown", which is just as good. These (2) CD's get as much play at my pad as Jimmy Smith's- Root Down--Enough said.
A Real Legend of Acid Jazz.......2001-09-10
This CD seemed to have fallen between the cracks for a while... but its been a top pick of mine for ages, and though I'm a fan of the classic Blue Note funk and soul Jazz sound that many of these acid, groove and jam bands emulate, this is one of the few groups of the '90s that I've been willing to admit to my collection. - - A steamy B3 group, this CD was recorded when Acid Jazz was big in the UK and virtually unheard of here in the US. By the time I came across a cut of this great band in Japan (doing a mega burning steamed up version of Spinning Wheel as I recall) acid Jazz had all but been declared dead and played out in Europe, then suddenly, several years behind the times, we in the US got with it and had our own Jam band scene. What I like most about this band though is that they're much more tight, soulful, fun, energetic and fun to listen to than the bands that followed. If my memory serves me correct, this is a JT side project, but I'm not too sure on it. Whatever the case, this is not just another groove band, this is *the* groove band that came before all the others got with it... so if you're down with the B3 sound and like a bit of funky hot sauce with your groove... definitely, get this one (!)
