4 out of 5 stars Nik Turner - 'LIve At Deeply Vale Free Festival 1978' (Ozit).......2004-04-28

Hour's worth of avant garde atmospheric space rock.A show that no one would even remotely expect to see officially released.Features Gong guitarist Steffi Sharpstrings.Main thing about '...Deeply Vale 1978' is that I didn't recognize the tunes immediately.Totally dug the intense building rhythm on "Hall Of Double Truth" as it appears to sort of bring the festival gig together."Anubis" sounds a bit like Gong because of it having a semi-jazzy/cosmic overtone."Thoth" sounds like an actual Gong tune as it's WAY different from any other version I've ever heard of the song."God Rock" provides a galactic finale. The twelve page booklet serves the purpose of a nice keepsake for the owner of this historic recording.Highly recommended for any and ALL true fans of space rock,Nik Turner,Hawkwind,Gong, tripping psychedelia and to any truly lucky souls who ever had the upholding privilege of attending any free festivals of music in the '70's.Beautiful cover.
