Crash Couture is likely the least "indie" album we have received in our existence that introduces itself to us without a proper label. With octopus-ink slick production (thanks to one Joe Chiccarelli, of U2, Hole, etc.. note) and and album filled with songs begging to fill the FM airwaves, I would describe Careen's latest effort as an album set to sell (or "sail") the band high on the mainstream market.

Equipped with a bio dropping names like Foo Fighters and and Fountains of Wayne, that is exactly the crowd (and a huge demographic of album buyers) I expect Crash Couture to grasp. With a full range of the pop/rock formula - from relationship anthems ("Who Loves You", "Tragedy") right up to full force guitar/keyboard/bang on the drum burners like album opener "Lights" - you have every choice to mold the proper inception of Careen from the get go.

With thoughtful lyrics in tow (I think I know how many "rock!" bands would choose to follow the line "no more Christmas out of luck", and it's not with "it's time to suck it up".), Careen have obviously set their sights on a bigger listening crowd.
