The band: Cruz de Hierro was originally founded by Ernesto Bringas in 1988 in Mexicali, B.C., Mexico. The band started with five members and has been evolving since then with several changes in its line-up so as with the style of the music they play. In 1994 they moved to Guadalajara, Jalisco where the band resides to date. The band members, as Cruz de Hierro or as individuals, have played beside bands like Angra, Arena , Flower Kings , Minimum Vital , A Piedi Nudi , Halloween, Spocks Beard, Par Lindh Project, Illuvatar, Van Den Plas, and Brand X?s guitarist. The band members include two guitar players and two singers (plus keyboards/bass/drums) The album: The mexican Dream Theater, no less! Different influences of the members have lead the band to the exploration of genres like heavy metal, neoclassic, progressive, electronic, folk rock, ending with a fusion of them all. As a final result, the genre of Cruz de Hierro is Progressive Metal, with additions of some of the above and harmonies from jazz and classical music. Sung or instrumental, this powerful and sophisticated music, not unlike Rhapsody or Symphony X, will enchant all prog' metal addicts!

    this is a boring band, is a cheap copy of a lot of heavy metal bands if you can consider this band a heavy metal band, i prefer to listen backstreetboys or nsync, i recomended to do other things like sale hot dogs or burguers in a corner. I knew this guys in Mexicali and they dont have a clue of what the heavy metal is, even what the music is, please, please, dont buy their album, if you want to have it, go to tepito and you have it if you buy a can of diet coke, no, of shasta.

    This is an excellent album with intelligent and inspired music performed by talented musicians. The songs run the gamut of emotions and themes, from the concern and sadness of world davastation (Key II: The Last Warning), to legends (Moctezuma's Revenge), to hope and testimony (The Guardian of the Flame, Leaves by the Road), and never setting aside instrumental precision with every song, specially Chameleon 177 and Benefit of the Doubt. This is an album that every prog rocker or any music fan should listen to, because not only does Cruz de Hierro deliver on this CD an inspired work or art, but also reach different types of music genres in an incredible and creative manner that music fans can sometimes only hope for.
