Sagas' music is one no band has ever followed or tried to copy. This cd brings some of sagas beutiful hits together and after releasing their first album in the 1980's they are still a well known and famous band in the world. Saga is one band that will never be forgotten

A typical Canadian `80s band, Saga's prog-rock overstatement and whirly symphonics were a huge hit for three years (1980 - 1984). Early anthemic crunchers like Don't Be Late, Wind Him Up and On the Loose epitomized the easy-to-digest, radio-friendly arena rock of the time and Canucks - bedevilled by a rush of home-grown hits (Rush, Bob and Dough McKenzie, Rough Trade, Payolas, etc.) - tuned in. But by 1985, the band's status had put the sag in Saga and the group veered off on numerous renovations all of which were soundly ignored. This covert greatest hits package, with the wildly optimistic subtitle Volume One, offers the previously mentioned gems and the carts of latter-day coal (Ice Nice, Walking On Thin Ice, Odd Man Out, Once Is Never Enough). Anyone interested in revisiting or discovering the band's limited glories would be advised to skip this and go straight to 1982's In Transit, a live greatest hits album that neatly encapsulates Saga's brief flirtation with a winning formula.
