First off, i'm of the opinion that "Different Class" is easily in the top 10 Britpop albums of the 1990's, if not in the top 2 or 3 (and i could make a case that it's one of the top 10 rock albums of the decade), so if you haven't heard it, you really owe it to yourself to hear it (NOTE: Different Class, as an album, is unquestionably a five-star classic; see below why i rate this edition as 4 stars). Very tuneful, with biting commentary, 'humour' and sarcasm on lust, youthful foolishness, class warfare and capturing the zeitgeist of what was going on in the UK around the mid-90's - it's very much of its time, yet I suspect will ultimately be considered timeless. Virtually all of the tracks are pure ear candy - this album really holds up thruout. This edition is beautifully presented -nice thick glossy digipak packaging with Universal's usual clear slipcase; generous booklet and comments, and great sound. If you've read this far, you'll probably want to pop for this in order to get the extras disc - demo's, b-sides, live cuts. They're nice, but i don't know if i'd call them indispensible - i rated it 4 stars because of the cost involved to get the extras. if you have an inkling you'll like this album, and can afford it, this is a good edition to get if you can score one for under like $25; otherwise, for most, the 1-cd will suffice and is heartily recommended. But if you're really into Pulp, i'd imagine you'll want this edition.

This is a $ 40.00 cd. I had a copy and can't find it. I ordered another copy (that is how good it is !!!!!). DeVille is an astounding tallent who dosen't follow fads and has the highest artistic integrity.

A Horse We Know And Love.......1999-10-21

Okay, after two albums of New Orleans Bar-Room-Blues-Rock, with some Latin Seasoning for extra flavor, Willy Deville's new album builds on past perfection's and moves forward with exciting results! Though there are more 'covers' than usual, Willy DeVille turns familiar tunes like 'Needles And Pins' inside out and gives us a stirring interpretation. 'Bacon Fat' really shows off his musical roots complete with 'speak-easy' ambiance. '18 Hammers' plays itself out with plenty of drama and passion. The tender 'Gypsy Deck of Hearts' gives first-rate DeVille as balladeer. Let's not forget 'Goin' Over The Hill' with its incredible vocals and laid-back guitar. In conclusion, "Horse Of A Different Color' really isn't all that different form past Willy DeVille works. The album shows us that after two decades worth of albums, Willy DeVille is still exploring and experimenting with his craft. And the results are amazing!

I know this is the Bangles CD, but PRINCE really out did himself with this one! His amazing writing skills always seem to impress me and I just love what he did for "Manic Monday". I also love "If She Knew What She Wants" and "Walking Down Your STreet". This CD should be re-released with the original 12" Mixes. That would be great!

I love the 80's? It's true, the 80's was a great era, but also a ________ era! The fashion, the video games, and theh music! We had awesoem music like Mercyful Fate, Slayer, and Metallica, but we also had horrible hair metal and countless _____ pop. Pop was good and bad, and here's a band that bad. Very _________ bad. Like Bangles bad. Here's the Bangles for you. A _________ group with three untalented _____heads.

The Bangles were some of the worst group of women ever. IF the Pussycat Dolls had an 80's version, it wuold be the Bangles. Well, the Bangles lryics were still tons better than The Pussycat Dolls lyrics, but the Bangles were extremely boring and stupid, not to mention pointless. Then again, a lot of pop music in the 80's was __________ horrible. At least we had METAL!!!!!! Just try to listen to this bland waste for thirty seconds. THe Bangles had one good hit, Walk Like an Egyptian, and they tanked faster than the Lustania (it's a _________ sinking ship!).

If you want a better pop album from the 80's, Hunting High And Low by a-ha Or Welcome To The Pleasuredome by Frankie Goes To Hollywood totally destroy this album anyday of the 80's. Or today. Whatever works.

For a while back in the 1980s, the Bangles - fronted by the inimitable Susanna Hoffs - practically defined the upbeat Girl Band phenomenon. Lightly packaged female angst about men, relationships, and getting to work late again combine with one of the all-time most memorable tunes ('Walk Like an Egyptian') to make DIFFERENT LIGHT an eminently own-able album, one that repays regular listening. The latter song also generated one of the all-time best early music videos.

Influences? One thinks of Heart, especially in the broody voice of Vicki Peterson, who looks seriously offended on the album paperwork. There's an almost Dylan-esque ironic randomnness in the lyrics of 'Egyptian', though the similarities end there.

In sum, a tight sound and a fun band to watch. 'Generative of a question that may await resolution in eternity: 'What ever happened to the Bangles?'

The Bangles Best!.......2006-03-22

I would say get this and don't even bother with the Greatest Hits album. You don't need to have "Eternal Flame" or "Going Down to Liverpool". I remember friends of mine seeing them live and RAVING about them. And these guys were into metal! Susanna Hoffs is ultra hot. Between her looks and that sexy voice she is really special and she still looks amazing. This album has their 2 best songs- "Walking Down Your Street" and "If She Knew What She Wants" and their 2 biggest hits- "Walk Like An Egyptian" and "Manic Monday". Susanna Hoffs is really hot- did I say that yet?

This is clearly the best Bangles album.Includes "Manic Monday",
"Walk like an egpytian" "Walking Down Your Street" and many others.It also includes lesser known songs like "Standing in the hallway","Not like you",and a cover of Big Star's September Gurls."Manic Monday" went to #2 written by Christoper AKA:Prince
"Walk Like An Egytain" went to #1 and had a hit video on Mtv.Most songs are penned by The Bangles but thier biggest hits were penned by others.These gurls can write and I hope you realize that while listining to this album. No, I repeat No Bangles collection could be complete without owning this album.

A clever remix of one of the longest song names in rock: The Police's "When The World Is Running Down You Make The Best Of What's Still Around". Sure to get all ravers and Police fans dancing. A surefire hit.
