good memories for me and fun "new" songs for my children.......2007-06-27

We had ordered this for "The Dukes of Hazzard" theme song for our 4yr old and our whole family has fallen in love with the cd. It makes me want to share some of the old fun and simple shows with my children. I forgot about some of those shows. It brings back good memories for my husband and me and the songs are new and exciting for our children. It's a nice change from children's cd's, but our children still think it's fun. The sound quality is good and the songs included on the cd are a great mix. I would definately recommend this one.

This is a great CD for people who watch a lot of TV -especially TV LAND and reruns of old shows when shows had actual theme songs. I took the CD to work and everyone loved trying to figure out what show the songs were from.

Listening to these familiar themes as performed by the original artists certainly brings back wonderful memories! I was particularly pleased, not only with the quality of the pieces, but with the actual performances themselves, just as we remembered them!

Here's a little something to tide you over until Jay-Z decides to come correct. Then again, Roc-A-Fella Records could release Sean Carter Sings MC Hammer's Greatest Hits and watch it ship platinum. So, it really doesn't matter if Dynasty seems to be a rather half-hearted effort from the man who many consider to be the best rapper this side of Rakim. Although presented as a solo album, Dynasty showcases the Roc-A-Family, giving extensive mic time to Beanie Sigel and Memphis Bleek, who gets a whole track (the Ja Rule-esque "Holla") to himself. Amil, whose own solo album, All Money Is Legal failed to reveal her inner queen, turns up to rhyme the hook on the posse cut, "You, Me, Him & Her." Jay-Z keeps his flow fairly straightforward here, and the beats neatly reflect his icy, relatively soulless lyrics. But of course, as the man himself has said, you "can't knock the hustle." --Rebecca Levine

Let me start off by saying that the Intro is vintage Jay-z but its not the only track where Jigga goes off on. Streets Is Talking which features Beanie Sigel is another track where Jigga killed it and Beanie's verse was crazy too. Both Jay-z and Beanie rip the track Stick 2 The Script to shreds and Guilty Until Proven Innocent which features R. Kelly is Jay-z's finest moment on the mic. Scarface joins Jay-z and Beanie on the heartfelt This Cant Be Life. Memphis Bleek does pretty well on his solo joint Holla and Where Have You Been is one of the best songs on here as Jay-z and Beanie talk about their deadbeat fathers on the track. Although I love the song, I still dont like the 2 minutes of vinyl static that comes after the song fades out. This comp is not without its flaws. Parking Lot Pimpin is boring and so is 1-900-Hustler. Squeeze First is a classic example of beatwasting as Jay-z spits lukewarm verses of a hard beat. The R.O.C which features Memphis Bleek and Beanie Sigel is a commercial blunder and Jay-z's solo track, Soon You'll Understand is annoying to say the least. Bottom Line: Roc La Familia is one of the better rap compilations even though it has its suspect moments. Standout Tracks: INTRO, CHANGE THE GAME, STREETS IS TALKING, THIS CANT BE LIFE, GET YOUR MIND RIGHT MAMI, STICK 2 THE SCRIPT, YOU, ME HIM, HER, GUILTY UNTIL PROVEN INNOCENT, HOLLA and WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN.

4.5 stars: When Rocafella ruled hiphop.....................2006-11-25

Bump what you heard - Dynasty was the joint! The Roc came into 2000 on roll having just dropped Vol 3 in 99. The joints on here are classic.

The Dynasty of Roc-A-Fella .......2006-05-18

I guess the Roc-A-Fella dynasty will never fall off. Every year, they seem to be getting stronger, but it's hard to knock their hustle, while Jay-Z and his Roc-A-Fella army are showing us why they are number one by dropping smash hit singles such as the "Neptunes'" produced, "I Just Wanna Love You" and "Guilty Until Proven Innocent" with R. Kelly singing the hook. Beanie Sigel really comes strong on this one, with cuts like "Streets Is Talking" and "Where Have You Been" where Mack and Jay talk about their father's leaving. Not as vivid as "Reasonable Doubt" nor as slick as "Vol. 2" but still most of the production work makes up for the album, i.e. Just Blaze and Kanye West (listen to "This Can't Be Life").

The Return of KISS!.......2007-05-31

I love this album. I don't care what others may say. Look, Kiss was experimenting and they went for it on this one. There's no denying "I Was Made for Lovin You". Yes, it's rock and bit mired in disco, but it still rocks. ALL of the Ace tunes are awesome especially "2000 Man", but I love "Hard Times". If only that could have been played live. Paul's poppiness and cool melodies come through on "Sure Know Something" but I really like "Magic Touch" which rocks hardest for Paul on here. And Gene only has 2 tunes, but "Charisma" has a cool riff and beat and in content to me is similar to "Dr. Love"... I mean it's a silly sex song. "X-Ray Eyes" is okay. Sadly, this contains Peter's last Kiss song that he both sings and writes on and it's cool. "Dirty Livin'" turned out to be autobiographical for Peter. I love the whole Dynasty period. The costumes were over the top, I love the setlist on the tour, and this record offered a new fresh, rockin sound for Kiss. Here's another tid bit...I wish they would have recorded Alive 3 at this point. It could have been a mix of solo stuff, Dynasty stuff, and other tunes that didn't make it on the first 2 live records. Oh well.

The ending of a Dynasty...but still worth a listen!.......2007-05-27

Dynasty was released on May 23, 1979 in an effort to revitalize Kiss' popularity in the US again after lackluster sales from each of the 4 solo LPs released last year. The lead-off single "I Was Made for Lovin' You" was Kiss' 2nd biggest selling single and reached the top 10 in radio airplay, helping Dynasty peak at #9 on the charts and shortly gain platinum status.

Kiss were going through major problems at this time in large part with Peter Criss' car accident and substance abuse eroding his drumming skills (hence why Anton Fig plays on 8 out of 9 tracks) plus fighting amongst the other members which is probably why Gene only plays on 4 songs and sings on just 2(Charisma and X-Ray Eyes with IWMFLY and Dirty Livin', the only song Peter Criss co-wrote, sang and played drums on) in addition to Vini Poncia's slick production sterilizing some of Kiss' harder edge. Unfortunately, the "Return of Kiss" tour as it was billed didn't fare so well and the end of the Dynasty tour, Peter was pretty much done with Kiss or vice versa.

This album has gotten mixed reviews over the years, with some saying the pop/disco-tinged vibe of the album led to their declining fan base but there are others who highly regard it in their collection. I think it's one of Kiss' more adequate releases. Be forewarned this is not an album that if you like the old sound of Kiss you'll get into with one listen. It'll have to grow on you if you're willing to have an open mind to new musical styles. It took me about 6-7 listens and now I really like it. Here's my review of each of the 9 songs that comprise this album (rating 1 to 10):

1. I Was Made for Lovin' You: What more can be said that it's another one of Kiss' biggest commercial hits (along with Beth and Forever) and a very catchy, dancy, melodic number. If you like disco rock, that's what this tune is. 110%. I love everything in this song from Paul's voice (nice falsettos in the middle - and he hit 'em all!), Ace's complementary guitars, Gene's funky bass and Anton Fig's pulsing rhythm. A ten all around.

2. 2,000 Man: Covers the Rolling Stones gem and Ace does a great job singing it. Another one of the record's highlights. An absolute 10.

3. Sure Know Something: The second minor hit single from Dynasty. Excellent guitar work by Paul along with a great Gene bass line. Paul also does a great job with this song he wrote about a woman he truly admires. Should've been a bigger hit. I rate it 10.

4. Dirty Livin': Peter's lone contribution on Dynasty. A funk-filled vibe all around. Gene's bass really moves this tune along. Cat's voice fits the song. I see this as his "cry for help" number. This would be Peter's last studio recording with Kiss until Psycho Circus. He sings it well but moreso GREAT DRUMS BY PETER. What a way to go out! Another 10.

5. Charisma: Yuck. I always skip this song. Uninspired melodies from Gene and a dreadful chorus. Lyrics...meh. Not one of Gene's best. I rate it a big fat ZERO. BLAAARGH!!!

6. Magic Touch: An OK song by Paul. The background vocals and Anton's groove save this tune from being a disaster. Rated 5.

7. Hard Times: Ace's tribute to surviving in the streets: Not his best, but better than the last two. Good rocker by him. 7.

8. X-Ray Eyes: Gene's second contribution to Dynasty and this one is much better. A very enjoyable number. A bit more pop filled but has nice harmonies and Fig shines on this song. An 8.

9. Save Your Love: Ace's 3rd vocal on a Kiss record (he would also sing 3 on their next LP, Unmasked). Interesting chorus with the cut-time beat and smooth backing vocals. Supposedly Ace wrote this for Peter about his ex-wife Lydia. OK closer. I give it a 6.

If you're new to Kiss or want to buy all of their material let Dynasty be towards the middle of the pack. This would be the last time the original 4 appear together (on one song) on a Kiss record. Anton Fig filled in admirably and I believe his drumming saved Dynasty from being a total failure. It's really worth a listen. I rate it 3 1/2 stars.

Actually, This Album Is Better Than You Would Think.......2007-04-07

This was the first KISS album I ever owned, my folks buying it for me as a youngster, so while I had heard other KISS songs on the radio and through friends who owned older KISS albums, I really didn't have the frame of mind that this was their "sell out" album. I simply enjoyed it for what it was - part musical exploration, part snapshot of its time. And my impressions have changed little since then.
Sure, "I Was Made For Lovin' You" was a "disco" song, but that cannot be said of the rest of the album. "Hard Pop" might be a better description, as the album still has a strong rhythmic rock underpinning, but is shaped by a production quality that shines with the sheen of a radio programmer's wetdream.
Once passed the opening track, you get into the meat of some fine KISS tunes; "2000 Man", a cover of an obsure Stones' song, is reworked by Ace Frehley with amazing results, though the song is a tad lengthy. "Sure Know Something" contains one of Gene Simmons' best bass riffs, and would be a minor hit. Peter Criss checks in (or actually, checks out, due to drugs and a growing distaste for the music business) with "Dirty Livin'". The song is odd, but works. Sadly, this would be Criss' last track until the reunion album 20 years later, Psycho Circus. He also provided drums on this one track only, with Anton Fig (of Late Show with David Letterman fame) filling in on the rest of the disc.
"Charisma" (as well as "X-Ray Eyes") are typical, formulaic Simmons lyrics, but musically they work - he knew how to turn a phrase and the underlying "darkness" drives the tunes.
"Magic Touch" is a hit or miss Paul Stanley tune, and is the one song of which my opinion has changed over the years -- I used to hate it, now I see it as a decent, interesting track.
In my mind, however, this album was elevated by Frehley's contributions - his two original tracks are two of his best, "Hard Times" being the B-side of the "I Was Made For Lovin' You" single, (and Ace's best track here), and "Save Your Love" being alluring, with an off-kilter arrangement for the chorus that still works.
My only disappointment is the fact that there are only 9 tracks here. Two more solid rockers and this would have been considered KISS' greatest discs. There is a lot of variety and attempts at exploring a more commercial sound, but there is also a very plain, grayness to some of the arrangements; they lack the fire, color, and spirit of earlier material. These reasons are what keep me from commiting to a 4 star rating.
Still, all in all, the album, marred by years of spite from older fans, deserves to be recognized on its own merits and seen for being better than you would think, and actually very enjoyable, after all these years.

dynasty is pleasurable.......2007-02-04

I think most people are afraid of any groups changing their sound.Groups want to change direction,fans don't.Although KISS is still classified as Heavy Metal{at least thats the filing in stores}can get away with a disco album.Imagine PANTERA going country? Or at least for one album? Scary thought isn't it.Never the less KISS will always be rejuvenating new fans and keeping their old.They actually had a symphony backing them up and it was excellent.I know I'm getting off the beaten path but for 79 this was a commercial hit in clubs and dancable.I still chuckle when I hear BETH.The song has no drumming.Its sung by Criss! Never a dull moment!

"What is my charisma?".......2006-09-04

When it comes to my favorite bands that have been around a long time and have been through different trends and styles, I seem to gravitate to the eras that most fans do not like. I like it when bands experiment and try out fresh sounds or directions that may seem out-of-character. Such is the case with KISS. I really like their late 1970s-early 1980s material like Music From the Elder, Creatures of the Night and, to a lesser extent, Unmasked which most fans tend to shun. I also think Dynasty is awesome! The glamour KISS style I think really worked from their cool costumes to the great tracks like "I Was Made For Loving You" and "Sure Know Something." Yeah, disco was on its way out when this album was released in 1979. It was not going to be a style KISS would continue for years to come but, for this album, I think it worked. I'm not crazy about every track on Dynasty but, the ones that are the most glam and fresh, I love!

"I Was Made for Loving You": The most recognizable track on this album. The title makes it sound a bit cliché'd and cheesy but, in actuality, it has a very fresh sound for KISS. It is the most danceable and disco-sounding track on the album and I think they did an excellent job adopting that style. Old school fans may have cried "sell out" at the time, but the song is just darn good, very accessible and addicting.
"2,000 Man": Ace Frehley's Rolling Stone cover. A fun track I really like, but it does drag. It is 4:43 and seems even longer because it plods along and is repetitive. I'd enjoy it more if it was shorter; but I know this is probably a Dynasty fan favorite.
"Sure Know Something": More glam KISS. A promotional video was made for this track along with "I Was Made..." It has a groovy opening bass line and just makes you want to get your groove on. I love the bass riff before each line of the chorus. It is very catchy. Lyrically-wise, however, it is rather juvenile which is unfortunate because, musically, it is terrific: "You showed me things they never taught me in school" (uh, yeah).
"Dirty Livin'": A Peter Criss number. Like with "2,000 Man," it is long (4:16), tends to drag and is repetitive. I'm usually not crazy about Criss tracks but, I'll admit, this one is better than "Baby Driver" and I'll even put it above "Hooligan."
"Charisma": Now we're talking! Awesome Gene Simmons track! Intense verses, echo chamber chorus, and clever lyrics. It is a very catchy track, too. One of my five 5-Star tracks on Dynasty!

"Magic Touch": Another favorite 5-Star track. Paul's vocals are a highlight. He displays a lot of feeling as well as range from the verses to the high, heartfelt bridge. It has that disco feeling, but is slower. The guitar kicks, too.
"Hard Times": Another Ace track. I find most of his few songs from this era (late 1970s-early 1980s) a bit stale. The "Everyday life in the city" line feels lifeless. I guess his heart was not in it during this time. He certainly understood the musical pulse better than his band-mates but, then we would never have been given Music: From the Elder, which I think is brilliant. Back to "Hard Times": the bridge does liven things up a bit as does the cool guitar solo.
"X-Ray Eyes": Another Gene masterpiece! It is not quite as cool as "Charisma," but the chorus is very catchy. The last of my 5-Star tracks on this album.
"Save Your Love": The better of the Ace tracks on this album. When I shut down my computer, I programmed the line "Girl, you know it's over, we had some good times, but now they're gone, so long."

Like its companions in the button-bursting Complete Columbia Recordings three-CD set, Mingus Dynasty has some expanded pleasures. First, there's the band, which reaches to 10 members for half the tunes here. Second, there's the reissue's unique expansions, returning "Slop," "Song with Orange," "Gunslinging Bird," and "Things Ain't What They Used to Be" to their full, unedited length for the first time on CD. Columbia had a bad rep for some of the original edits on this and Mingus Ah Um, and the restorations give a far fleshier feel to these works, all of them balanced on a seesaw of flesh and brawn. There are downright lovely moments, as on "Diane," and moderately punching swingers, as on "Slop" and the undertow pull of "Gunslinging Bird." Jerome Richardson does wonders on the baritone sax, tugging the ear to the lower realms so Mingus can thumpily shine on his big axe. Of equal importance are John Handy, busy here training his alto sax to sound unlike anyone else's, and Booker Ervin, busy here giving the band a Texas tenor sound as wide open, unequivocal, and tonally economical as the dusty prairie. --Andrew Bartlett

Mingus in Wonderland.......2007-05-28

Mingus was on a roll in 1959, recording four of his greatest albums, and if Mingus Dynasty doesn't reach the peaks of Blues and Roots or Mingus Ah Um, it gets pretty darn close.

Sonically it's quite similar to Ah Um, though with a larger ensemble. Booker Ervin, John Handy, Jimmy Knepper, and Dannie Richmond return fromt hat album, but Roland Hanna takes over the piano chair and this time the group includes a trumpet (either Don Ellis or Richard Williams). Jerome Richardson plays flute and baritone sax, and Teddy Charles adds vibes to a few of the tracks. The last tune ("Put Me in That Dungeon") adds cellos to great effect.

As on Ah Um, the ensemble explores a wide range of styles, maybe even wider. It really shows off Mingus's breadth as a composer. "Slop" is another gospel-jazz piece in the mode of "Wednesday Night Prayer Meeting" with a fantastic piano "sermon" by Hanna. "Diane" starts out with a dissonant, nearly orchestral introduction before settling into a gorgeous piano trio section. (This tune appears as "Alice in Wonderland" on the Mingus album Jazz Portraits.) The album includes Mingus's first recorded explorations of the Duke Ellington canon, with "Things Ain't What They Used to Be" and a majestic "Mood Indigo". "Far Wells Mill Valley" is another semi-orchestral piece, almost cinematic in scope. "Gunslinging Bird" has an intense, hypnotic riff.

This is one of my favorite Mingus albums, especially because it highlights his abilities as a composer and arranger (though his genius as a bassist is also on display, especially on "Mood Indigo"). If you like Blues & Roots and Mingus Ah Um, this is a logical next step in your Mingus collection.

Gunslinging Mingus.......2006-12-02

It is hard for me to grade the albums of the great Charles Mingus - so many of them are perfect or near perfection and this is a fine example, indeed!
I don't find it in any way lesser achievement than "Mingus Ah Um", and the only fault I can find in this collection of newly polished and restored gems is the additional number "Strollin'" (vocals in Mingus' work are often...Ah...Um...Sloppy).

I lack the words to describe the genius of this true Ellington of modern jazz and it is very hard to me to pick favorite songs - beautiful "Diane" or "Far Wells, Mills Valley", glorious "Gunslinging Bird" or brilliant versions of Ellington's numbers ("Mood Indigo", "Things Ain't what they used to be"...)...

Somewhat less than "Ah Um"........2005-08-17

"Mingus Dynasty", Charles Mingus' followup to "Mingus Ah Um", is similar in form to its predecessor, but suffers the unfortunate fate of being the followup to a brilliant album, and as is usually the case, it falls short. Still, when taken on its own, its a decent record.

Mingus again augmented his working band for the two sessions this was recorded during, using as many as ten instruments at times including vibes (Teddy Charles), extra reeds (Jermone Richardson on tenor and Jerome Richardson on baritone), brass (Richard Williams or Don Ellis on trumpet and Jimmy Knepper on trombone) to his then working band (John Handy on alto, Booker Ervin on tenor, Roland Hanna on piano and Dannie Richmond on drums, with the leader handling bass duties). On some tracks, Mingus further augmented the band with a pair of cellos. All of these instruments result in a rather grand sound that sometimes gets a bit too busy, and I found the pieces I enjoyed most involved more stripped down performances. Take "Diane"-- it starts with rising and falling horns, arco bass, and a lot of interplay, but it's when the piece settles down, with Mingus, accompanied only by Hanna and Richmond, stating the theme that the piece is really powerful. Unfortunately, it's bookended by somewhat cluttered ensemble playing (although the shades of "Eclipse" in the coda are quite evocative).

On the other hand, some of the material that sticks to a big band sound (the churning "Gunslinging Bird", standards "Things Ain't What They Used to Be" and "Mood Indigo"-- the latter featuring fantastic soloing from both Knepper and Mingus) and one piece that sounds positively orchestral ("Far Wells, Mill Valley") all work out quite nicely, it's the material that sounds more like Mingus' small group work ("Slop", "Song With Orange") that just feels too busy with the extra horns.

As such though, "Mingus Dynasty" is an uneven effort, and Mingus has done much better. Check "Ah Um" for an intro, and if you like that, this might be a good second or third place, even though Mingus has done better records.

Love the Mingus!.......2005-01-13

Mingus Dynasty is a very solid album from Mingus' jazz group's peak years.

The great compositions are very catchy. Very upbeat and moving. Very emotional in the playing so that you really feel it.

Mingus' albums seem to have a very electric feel to it. He always seems lively and spirited, bordering on chaotic at times.

If you're new to jazz or new to Mingus, this is a good place to start, though I'd probably check out Mingus Ah Um first, and maybe this one second.

Mingus is in total control in this wonderful platter of jazz tunes. Watch out for the jimmy knepper and willie dennis trombone playing. And a great vocal song called strollin.

Quantity Over Quality.......2007-01-15

As a musician myself, I know too well that one of the most important ingredients in ANY performance (live or recorded) is passion. The recordings here generally lack the same passion and sheer drama of the originals. Much of the instrumentation has been reduced to a cheezy, thin, plastic synthesized replica. The performances are simply a watered-down lackluster version of the classic originals. If it were not for the sheer volume of tracks compiled here, I would have rated the comp only "one star".

Definitely not as good as the originals. You'll probably notice the slight differences since it's stuff you saw and listened to every week or everyday in reruns growing up, but it's still an amazing collection.

Really Good Collection.......2004-07-11

I bought this in part because it had soundtracks to tv shows that are unavailable. My husband and I watch aome British programming. Many of the theme songs are for what seems like obscure British shows. That said; it has been enjoyable to hear music that I would normally never hear. Some music does sound tinny; some are very very rich, and some music is derived from actual preformances from the original artists. I think this is worth buying because is has a wonderful blend of music. The pieces are full soundtracks so they includes the parts of the theme song which are often edited out. I think the orchestra's who preformed the music did a great job. I have MonsterMania which redoes the soundtracks to the Godzilla movies. The interpretation is less heavy and stark than the preformance we associate with the original soundtrack; but I regard it as a new way to appreciate the music and all the componets which make the song unique.

I have been looking to get any Dynasty songs on CD for ever! I had no problem getting the whispers, shalimar and even lakeside stuff on CD but Dynasty was tough. "Do me right baby" and "I've Just Begun To Love You" were 2 of my all time favorite roller skating tunes. I can now play all the Solar records hits on my iPod and have severe late 70s early 80s flash backs. . . . .now where did I put those roller skates?. . . . .notice Roller SKATES. . . . .non of the Roller Blade stuff for this guy!

This is the band I've been waiting for. Black Tie Dynasty bring a new twist on indie rock with their latest effort. I've heard way too many Coldplay and U2 rip-offs in the last few years, but BTD bring their own sound into a seemingly overcrowded genre. I think this band has some staying power.

your first time with BTD Movements, you'll notice allusions to Joy Division, Depeche Mode, Coldplay, Soft Cell, U2, etc. your second time with BTD Movements, these influences begin to recede. your third time with BTD Movements, you realize it is a unique and amazing piece of work, and that the only relation it has to the aforementioned greats is that it can stand up among them.

I had forgotten about this group - that was my fault! They were an excellent R&B/Dance group who gave the consumer max value for their dollar. Standout songs: I've just begun to love you and Adventures in the land of music (sampled to death!). I paid $14/US for my disc! My rating for the disc: Five stars!

The dynasty of when R&B was really Rhythm & Blues.......2006-03-30

If you are one who thinks R&B is just midtempo and ballads then you have not experienced R&B as I grew up with. This is R&B of the bygone days when R&B artists were not afraid to put lots of rhythm into the mix but still be an R&B group opposed to a Disco or dance outfit.

Dynasty are just one on the kickin' groups from the legendary SOLAR (Sounds Of Los Angeles) record label responsible for such acts as The Whispers, Shalamar (Jody Watley and Howard Hewitt), Lakeside, Midnight Star and Babyface just to name some. Dynasty as well as all of these groups mentioned gave you a great mix of Ballads, Uptempo and Midtempo, not just ballads and mid. This is how I know R&B. Nowadays, if an R&B group puts out something that is club worthy, they are considered a dance or house group and that is just not the way it should be. R&B is about Rhythm and Blues, and rhythm is not just limited to midtempo and ballads but funky uptempo songs designed to get the feet moving.
The big dance numbers from this album that made it as singles and radio hits are I've Just Begun To Love You and Do Me Right, but Groove Control was another uptempo jam. As for ballads, Take Another Look at Love and Something To Remember were the downtempo ballads. The live version of I've Just Begun To Love You is a bonus track as it did not appear on my vinyl album.
Trully some excellent R&B.

Oh, Well.......2001-08-22

If you are looking for a CD that captures the real Dynasty, then this is the one for you. All of their hits are here. The album and live versions of "I've Just Begun to Love You" is here. Believe it or not, the title song, "Adventures in the Land of Music", has been sampled, like most songs during the R&B/Dance Era, by a rap group. This particular song is an awesome song and is very dynamic in it's horn arrangements. Some songs on here are fair to middlin', but only if you can appreciate Dynasty's approach to the R&B mixed with Dance ERA.

Solar's Musical Dynasty.......2000-06-21

It's Solar's first and the last line of hereditary rulers at their best. On Adventures in the Land of Music, Dynasty successfully attain the formula of blending Dance and R&B rhythms with smooth vocal harmonies. Also issued on this monstrous CD reissue is the band's top 10 R&B smash "I've Just Begun to Love You," recorded live during the Solar Galaxy of Stars Tour.

Just when you thought the first adventure was a thrill, Solar's royal band takes music lovers on another blockbuster journey. The group successfully attain the formula of blending R&B, Funk, Dance rhythms and sweet harmonies in such a unique way. As a result, Dynasty cooks up another winner and this time with a little help from labelmates Midnight Star, they serve up the Top 30 R&B smash "Here I Am." Other tracks that makes The Second Adventure a winner is the funky but catchy Top 40 R&B hit "Love in the Fast Lane," "That Loving Feeling," "Pain (Has Got a Hold on Me)," and the heart felt ballads "A Man in Love" and "Angel." A sure winner for those who truly believes that it's always better the second time around.

This CD epitomizes late 70's R & B. "Here I Am", by itself, makes this CD worth buying.
