Falling Down
Editorial Reviews
About the Artist
Together since 1996, BIG IRON inked their first record deal with Germany's Semaphore Records. The full-length European debut, "Tierra Del Diablo" was released in October 1997, receiving favorable reviews and sales. However, as is so often the case in the music industry, the label fell on hard times and was forced to close its doors shortly after "Tierra's" release. The band however, continued local and regional gigging in support of the record as well as writing new material, choosing to persevere when other bands might have walked away. The results are evident, as BIG IRON has gained a reputation for their powerful, passionate, tight as a fist live shows.
Product Description

One of Peter Cetera's Very Best.......2007-06-08
I don't think there is another voice like Mr. Cetera's. This is an absolutely wonderful CD. I love it and I know, if you are a PC fan, you're gonna love it too.
Peter's tenure at Warner Bros. falling down.......2007-02-06
This 1992 release is Peter Cetera's fourth solo album and his final on the Warner Bros. label. He first signed with the label in or around 1981 when he recorded his solo debut followed by his former band Chicago's WB debut CHICAGO 16 the following year. This soft-rocking crooner brings the Top 10 hit RESTLESS HEART and the Top 20 hit ONLY A FOOL CAN SEE. The other songs are good. Cetera's other WB albums include CHICAGO 17(1984),SOLITUDE SOLITAIRE(1986) and ONE MORE STORY(1988). Chicago,a Columbia veteran, continued to record on WB after Cetera left the band in or around 1985.
Have had this on cassette for some time, but wanted to update.......2006-07-14
I have had this album on cassette tape for some time, and decided to update to CD format.
Needless to say, if it wasn't a fine album, I wouldn't have pursued this title CD.
Fabulous as ever!
One of Cetera's best!.......2006-03-25
One of Peter Cetera's best albums! His voice on Last Place God Made and Have You Ever been in Love give me chills every time I play them!
"World Falling Down" is Creative, Innovative and Heartfelt.......2006-02-19
"World Falling Down" cuts right into the depths of human emotion, letting us know just what it means to be human. Peter wrote and recorded this album during an obvious time of personal strife, and all of the ten songs express the pain and despair that is part of human existence. Each song in itself portrays a different version of his pain and sadness, as each song is unique as they are creative. It was hard to choose an all-time favorite on this album, but I seem to have connected with "Where There's No Tomorrow" the most with "Have you Ever Been In Love" running a close second. Having experienced heartbreak and loss within my own personal life, the line "You go your way, I go mine" is probably, to me, the hardest thing to say when it comes to breaking up with someone. Nonetheless, I actually have repeated this line when it was time to part ways with someone, and it was all I needed to say. "Have you Ever Been in Love" has a very deep and reflective tone to it, as Peter tries to come to terms with picking up the pieces after a broken relationship. The line "Have there been times to laugh, and times you really wanted to cry" represent the duality and the irony of love. Love can be both joyful and painful, and one cannot exist without the other. Peter strikes a cord with that line, and it still makes me flush today as it did when I purchased it.
I have owned this CD since its release, and it continues to move me and instill within me that there is light at the end of the tunnel. In my own opinion, Peter seems to be some type of mourning period, but does not seem to be overly-depressed, and he retains the optimism that life (and love) indeed goes on. Nonetheless, I could comment on all of the other songs (which are also fantastic), but I would prefer anyone reading this review (if it is in any way helpful) to judge for themselves just what Peter is expressing here. So sit back, relax, turn up the volume, and listen, for Peter reminds us what it means to be human and just what the beauty (and irony) of what "love" is.

Having earned his composing stripes after the 1960s, John Adams had the pioneering work of Steve Reich, Philip Glass, and Terry Riley close at hand as he ventured into his trade. And, while minimalism's historical continuum helps place Adams, he used Reich, Glass, and Riley (among others) only as a starting point. And here's proof: a 10-CD retrospective of nearly all Adams's recorded compositions on Nonesuch Records, the label that also issued Steve Reich 1965-1995 and Kronos Quartet: 25 Years. Adams's Harmonium, a choral work of startling energy and effervescence, appears here in a new recording, as do distillations of both The Death of Klinghoffer and Nixon in China, two path-clearing operas. Over the span of a career covered by Earbox, Adams has returned minimalism to traditional instrumental ensembles as well as to projects that at once advanced a political commentary and took that commentary back to orchestral audiences. And so, in far less time than his predecessors, Adams created works that now play like standard repertoire pieces: The Wound Dresser and Shaker Loops and the Violin Concerto--all of them are here. What these works demonstrate is a fierce creativity on the one hand and perhaps a hunger for commercial advances on the other. Adams may at times be a bustling free thinker, but he sounds ever conscious of what audiences are listening to. As for the works themselves, they remain every bit as daunting as when written.
Some may object to particular selections. I Was Looking at the Ceiling and Then I Saw the Sky, for example, hardly ranks with Adams's best work. But this box isn't a mere best-of; it's an almost-all-of. At times terrifically American--especially in the news-aware operas and their narrative pragmatism--Adams well deserves a major box set, and its coverage is appropriate to his varied, stylistically diverse output. As with any large-scale retrospective, Earbox--which fairly bristles with Adams's new composition, Slonimsky's Earbox--has spots where fans might balk at the quality of the composer's writing. But it's got a fantastic accompanying booklet along with its many hours of inarguably modern and thoroughly listener-friendly music. --Andrew Bartlett

Moved to tears.......2004-03-18
Never before in my life was i moved so intensely and directly by classical music. I put the first cd in my player and a few minutes later tears are flowing. I find myself dancing and moving to a rythm i already seem to know. Wow, i just have to share that.
Nonesuch delivers.Again.......2002-11-27
John adams is one of the most popular living composers of"modern" classical music[I believe the cutoff point, though arbitrary is usually WWII}.I came to him late, through my husband. Modersn classical music , I said? What the hell is that?My husband kept playing bits and pieces of adams for me, and more and more i found myself amazed. and swayed. His operas have been groundbreaking{Nixon in China} controversial{Death Of klinghoffer},his compostions sublimely beautiful{shaker Loops or harmonium].HIS STATURE IS WORTHY THEN OF SUCH A MONUMENTAL CAREER SPANNING BOX SET.This 10 disc set[great value, again from NONESUCH}encompasses Adams' entire career, and though there are some misses here{I was looking at the ceiling and then i saw the sky doesnt quite fit},it is still magnificent. the Highlights are ,{for me} the Wound Dresser, Chamber symphony,Violin Concerto, of course, Shaker Loops and Harmonuim are wonderful. The true jewels here are Nixon in China, the Chairman dances and the Death of Klinghoffer, which is simply a masterpiece. The set comes with a wonderful book, which contains essay's by Robert Hurwitz {An Uncommon Man}renaud Machart[John adams as seen from europe} and Essays before an earbox by Adams himself.A Chronology and dicography are included. A wonderful study of an American original, worth the investment, Highly highly recommended
harmonia in excelsis.......2001-11-12
I must agree with Mr. Bartlett, particularly with regard to "Ceiling." It may well be because his Violin Concerto and Harmonielehre are so powerful. 4.5 stars.
Interesting, and likely intentional, is that two names in the extensive liner book fail to mention two great and glaringly obvious precursors: Carl Orff and Raymond Scott. Without "Carmina Burana," there would be no "Harmonium." Orff has his mark all over Adams's gifted and epic compositions. Similarly, though there are glib references to "cartoon music," the polymath engineer/musician Scott is a seminal figure in American music, and casts a large shadow over the witty juxtapositions and sense of play one loves in Adams's work. In all, an excellent career overview.
Our greatest living composer.......2001-07-22
As a composer, I'm staggered that anyone could fail to be gripped by this music.
That anyone can use the words "spoiled, overrated" amazes me. I emphatically disagree with "A music fan"'s review.
I don't think it's "mind-numbing"; I think it's spiritual and exciting. To me it's the most substantial music being created in our times.
I'm really sorry that anyone could fail to enjoy it, and really recommend others to listen for themselves.
Wonderful CD.......2000-04-02
This compilation should turn even the most curmudgeonly listerner into a fan. Beautifully recorded, great notes -- and it's a heck of a bargain!

Great, but no prize.......2002-03-31
The selections from the Ring trilogy, Friends in need and Fallen Angel were excellent, however, some of the special request such as joxer the mighty, seemed a little bit rushed. Wasn't that song on Volume 2 already? Where was M'Lila's song from Destiny, or the music played During the first Kiss in "The Quest"
The cd has its good points, personally "It's Over" from "THAB" with its haunting melodies portraying the consequences of war.
Xena;Warrior Princess volume six.......2002-01-09
I am so happy that the last and final cd has come out, now my collection is complete. I am very sad for the show ending, but I am glad to still collect things.
Great Collection.......2001-12-25
Well, I have them all by now, but this last one is a great collection, with the added bonus of the music from A Friend In Need.
Just another fine addition to my Xena collection!
Exceptional.......2001-11-30
I am a fanatic and devoted Xenite.I have a huge problem:i can't stop listening to that cd,since the first time i listened to it,which means 1 month! That cd is really exceptional and i think that every true and genuine Xenite should buy it!It's really good!I was moved when i heard the Fallen Angel part.I was passioned when i heard the Ring Trilogy!I was astonishing when i heard the bonus cues that were included, especially the cue from The Quill Is Mightier(fishin part),oh,i was completely satisfied!
Though, there is a complain:i can't understand, why after 6 cd's,the producers don't do a cd including cues like:M'laila's song, the cues from the Bacchaen festival, music from Deja Vou All Over Again, where in the end,Gabrielle says to Xena those wonderful words,or even the scene of the kiss in The Quest! That,i can't understand it!
Last, i believe that whoever likes LoDuca's music style, should buy this cd.
Pay attention to the 22 cue:Pas De Deux Femmes. It is one of a something and whoever remembers what's the scene of this song, will agree with me!Mmmm!
A MIX OF THE BEST, THE WORST AND THE MISSING.......2001-11-29
To all truly Xena fans this CD is a must-have but have some lacks... Fun (comedy episodes music) scores destroy the the great combination of FALLEN ANGEL, THE RHEINGOLD TRILOGY AND I FRIEND IN NEED. In the first selections LoDuca creates spectacular high level music good enough to be played in a Symphony orchestra concert. The others selections have easy-to-fill-space western cowboy music instead of put M'Lilas song of DESTINY, Amazon's climbing trees of ADVENTURES IN THE SIN TRADE and NAJARA vs XENA music that would be gladly accepted by us. I doubt the company will launch a next CD but if they'll do this track and another valuable more must be there and the adittion of some famous characters quotes like "I have many skills" from Xena.

Pop-like and mediocre.......2004-01-06
This album from steel pole bathtub starts out good with great guitar work and driving beats but loses its edge. More pop inspired beats than their previous works. Dish out the extra money to get "tulip" or "some cocktail suggestions" which are a lot better than this one.
A different kind of rock experience..........1999-09-15
This album, chock full of strange lyrics and music both haunting in melody and vocals, is definitely a fresh look at rock music (sorta like that detachable penis song but not quite as comical). I saw them perform a couple years ago with Faith No More, bought the album and have been hooked ever since. In this case, its worth the few bucks to try somethin new...

Customer Reviews:
A century of British art songs to delight those who love them.......2006-06-26
These 53 songs have been collected by Naxos from their extensive acquisitions from Collins Classics, and perhaps other British sources now out of business. There's a steady cottage industry, year after year, producing the typical English art song, which is usually based on folk songs, but even in more modern idioms is profuondly conservative and nostaligic. Half these songs, not to mention half the composers, are totally unknown to American audiences, but the familiar names of Vaughan Williams and Britten represent high quality, and the lesser lights, such as Warlock and Quilter, are mainstays in this repertoire.
I'd challenge all but the most addicted listener to make it through more than ten songs at a sitting, and many of these pieces are tepid, offering comfort rather than inspiration. The singers are among the best, but Graham Johnson and Steuart Beford, who do most of the accompaniments, are lackluster. I know that won't be a popular comment, yet if you compare any of these songs with rendiitons done by Janet Baker, John Shirley-quirk, and most recently Bryn Terfel and Ian Bostridge, you immediately notice how much more intensity and drama is pesent than htis colleciton reveals.

Can't believe I haven't reviewed this yet!.......2007-01-23
I remember the old days when record distros sent out catalogs before there were any online music stores. I saw a write up for this record in very's distro catalog in the late 90's and ordered it immediately. I honestly had no idea what to expect. I put this in and being a tough guy hardcore fan I was instantly repelled. However, after spending $8 or so for this record, I continued to listen. I won't say it wowed me instantly, but after about 3 or 4 listens this record was entrenched deep into me. I loved how chris's voice could go from beautiful singing to explosive screaming. It wasn't long until I was screaming with him during the breakdowns, ready to break something. I honestly can't describe this record in words. You're just going to have to buy this and see what I mean.
Great Hardcore.......2006-02-25
Falling Forward's vocalist, Chris Higdon, is most noteworthy for his masterful work in the band elliott, whose blend of soft, emotional music makes them one of the best musical efforts of all time. This band, Higdon's previous effort, certainly does have a great deal of power as well. The lyrics are full of angst and the vocals are piercing, two things which everyone loves on a bad day. The tracks are full of energy and drive; in some of their best moments, you feel almost as if you're listening to a version of elliott's Drive onto Me done in a garage band style. If you're an audiophile, this CD is not for you - the acoustics are good but not great, enhancing the garage band feel of the album. The album really is a great example of the Louisville, KY hardcore scene as it stood six years ago. If you're a fan of elliott, buy this album and check out Chris Higdon's roots. If you're not an elliott fan, buy this album anyway and step into music unique from what you'll be able to experience from today's artists. All in all, a great album with a couple great breakdowns and a piercing, pleasing sound.
Odd to see these reviews from everywhere.......2005-05-28
This is a great album. But you just can't feel Chris unless you saw them play. I saw every show, being that I live in Louisville and had Gary Bell as a roommate. I got to see practices to and Chris had so much raw energy that never came out later. Besides Elliot there was another short lived band called Simon that Chris fronted , but they never recorded anything. This was Louisville hardcore at its best I believe.
agreed.......2003-10-10
i agree with vegan kim. this is a shining example of what hardcore could be. the emotion is intense. his voice is pure and strong. the music is intricate and pretty, but always building, until some sick ass breakdown shakes your inner core. and when he screams, it just makes you choke up and want to scream with him. intense stuff. elliot is great, but doesnt compare. maybe they got all their anger out in falling forward, but anger and hurt makes for great art.
one of the best hardcore albums of all time........2003-04-08
this is one of my favorite albums of all time. at the time it was initially released, i was more into the "east coast" hardcore scene, with tough guy and sxe bands. apparently the midwest labels had something a little bit different going on, and that is evident in falling forward.
i fell in love with this album the first time i heard it. what strikes me the most about falling forward is the passion and emotion (before 'emo' was considered its own genre) that seems to eminate from the music. it also has one of the best (if not underrated) 'breakdowns' ever. for real. and for those of you who are familiar with elliot, this is the band from which they came. they are a little 'harder' and a little less polished, but with essentially the same spirit.

nope , just not right.......2005-11-29
This didnt do it for me. Trite lyrics, banal music. Just an overall bore of an album. I want my money back , honestly. Learn to play your instruments steve! The musicanship is absolutely horrendous. Gets my lowest possible score, avoid this at all costs.
Brilliant Brilliant Brilliant.......2002-11-02
this has got to be one of the best contemporary christian albums this year. the song writing is brilliant and the whole album is just so moving. TOPS!
Since I've never heard them before..........2001-12-05
...This is an amazing album if you've never heard Steve before (like I didn't when I first heard this). But based on the first review of this album, it gets me interested in hearing their previous work.
Anyway, since this was the first time I ever heard Steve (and many others will come to know them this way as well), I was impressed from the start after hearing "My Ever My All". WHen I finally bought the album, I was taken aback by the groups' diverse sound. Whatever type of rock you're into, you'll get it here. Melodic to soft to upbeat to beatdown :) All combined into one fantastic major-label freshman release.
I look forward to hearing future Steve projects, and past works. Recommend this group to everyone!!!
Absolutely fantastic.......2001-10-19
This is grrreat stuff! Old favourites from the Limited Edition black EP are reworked, along with brand new scorchers. "My Ever My All" rocls with a huge bass riff. "M" is striaght from the beginning of a Bond film. "Smile" is a soft ballad that explodes into a passionate guitar solo. "I am Here" is beautiful- almost pretty. "Mellow" tips its hat to Radiohead, and is a real grower. Inside it are sampled lines from "Hope and Glory" the only song from the blakc EP that didn't make it this far.
A superb album from Bristol's best. Definately worth your pennies! Get this one- trust me!
Brilliant British Rock.......2001-10-15
This album is brilliant. The 'blips and bleeps' (Jason's review)are fantastic and the whole album has a much tidier sound than their concerts. I've heard Steve twice live and thought they were wonderful and this album brings out the best in them.
They have a very 'British' sound, so some of you Americans might find it a little 'different' but don't let that put you off. This album is rich and tastey. 'Majesty' is great and 'Falling down' even has a little James Bond-esque sample at the end. Also, 'Mellow' has a 'magic roundabout' riff though it which I think is rather clever.
If you like Delirious, you'll like Steve, get this album, or miss out.

Magnificent and subtle singing.......2007-05-27
Imaginative and highly suggestive, Lincoln's singing on this 1990 album may remind you of Billie Holiday, at times even of Nina Simone (although Nina was usually not so strictly jazz singer as Abbey). But, make no mistake, inspite of her tributes to Billlie (I must get me those CD's) she had a distinctive style; at times old-fashioned-jazz-mama-style rough, at times quite modern and cynical, but usually very emotional ...
There are some quite interesting lyrics here (many written by Abbey; she also wrote two of the tunes), her music is not only romantic but also at times political, but it is the beautiful phrasing that I admire and in this album social comentary is only in several allusions. As opposed to the liner notes author (who apparently believes that "Strange Fruit" is some sort of peak of Billie Holiday's career), I like my personal politics separate from my equally personal pleasure in art (although I enjoy political art as well); it is the form that enchants me, thrills me and delights me.
This is a great jazz album, with magnificent players (who get plenty of solo and ensemble space), with Clark Terry as my favorite contributor, some really cookin' boppish alto by Jackie McLean, gentle piano by Alain Jean-Marie, suggestive bass by Charlie Haden and somewhat restrained but highly functional drumming of Billy Higgins (Abbey had previously recorded with many other great instrumentalists, including Sonny Rollins, Max Roach and Coleman Hawkins).
Although Abbey's title song on this treasure of a CD is also great, my favorite song is still the magnificent version of "How High the Moon"; in order not to get corny with this enchanting old ditty, Lincoln even uses French lyrics for a major part of her subtle performance.
Then again, this is a French produced CD (albeit for Verve). I actually bought 2007 "Universal France" reissue of this great CD, I guess intended mostly for European market so, all in all, Abbey seems to have shared the fate of many a great American jazz artist (such as Sidney Bechet, Ben Webster, Dexter Gordon, Roy Eldridge or, more recently, Dee Dee Bridgewater) and audiences outside the US still keep her very much American art very much alive...
This phenomenon is actually quite strange when one remembers how many foreign artists found refuge from persecution in the U.S. during the 20th century...
Try it!.......2000-12-28
I'd never heard of this lady before a TV programme about her but this was my loss. We have here not just a solid person who sticks to her views forever at immense personal cost but also a great artist. Her songs stick in my mind as I write this. If you like Gladys, Sade and Dinah then you'll love this record. Buy it because she deserves fame and recognition in her own country and not just in Europe.
