This "Fever" IS The Cure!!!!.......2006-12-26
If there were ever a question such as "Why is Kylie the Queen of Pop and Dance Music," here is your answer. "Fever" sets the platinum standard for these genres with its flawless combination of Kylie's sultry, smooth and breathtaking vocal flair combined with masterful songwriting collaboration with Cathy Dennis, Rob Davis, Richard Stannard and Julian Gallagher (to name but a few). This set is a deejay's best friend. Kylie has the knack for turning up the heat with stunning results.
Prime examples of Kylie's genius and talent break forward on tracks such as "Fever," "In Your Eyes" and "Dancefloor" (sultry and purely alluring with dance syncopation that gets to your soul). "Love At First Sight" is yet another diamond in this set with its pure EuroDance flair and, as always, smooth polish of Kylie's spunk and verve. What's more, as a perfect pairing, "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" and "Come Into My World" both define the club anthem attitude and sound.
As "Light Years" set the stage for Kylie's continued reign into the 21st century as the pop and dance music queen, "Fever" proves that Kylie retains that title.
"Highlights include "Fragile", "Give It To Me" and "Love Affair"
Worth the money!.......2006-06-25
Well, I already owned a copy of Fever, but I'm a collector of Kylie. I think this was well worth the cost. The rare tracks, "Good Like That, Baby, Whenever You Feel Like It, and Tightrope," are great, and I have no idea why they weren't included on the album, rather than the two tracks that I hate. And tho I'm NOT complaining, I don't understand why "Butterfly" was included, as its from Light Years. The remixes are also a plus, as its nice to get some variety and a new spin on the widely recognized "CGYOOMH." (And its true, the slipcase actually says "ButterFRY," not "ButterFLY.")
As if Fever weren't already good enough...........2005-08-05
You get the original album, with 6 ADDITIONAL SONGS!!!! And we're not just talking about "cast-offs". We're talking additional B-sides that will get your booty shaking. "Good Like That", "Boy", "Baby", "Butterfly", "Tightrope", and "Whenever You Feel Like It". You all seriously need to purchase this Japanese import as it also includes the amazingly spectacular video for "Come Into My World" which will blow your mind.
I bought mine used on here for half the amount. I suggest you do the same. I got mine within 3 days. And on a funny side note...the outside cover of this japanese limited edition lists the song Butterfly as "Butterfry". I swear...it does.
I highly recommend getting this!
FEVER sure has got me good!!!!.......2005-03-31
I think this may well be the best packaging of any Japan album that has been made! It is PACKED with loads of stuff compared to the original release of the album! Nobody can quite package an album like the Japanese can... It's just amazing! This version of the album, and the original version if that, are definately love at first sight! Anyway, here's what you get!:
~ Disc 1 includes the full 12-track album plus 4 bonus tracks. 3 B-Sides including Boy, Good Like That and my personal favourite Baby, plus a very good track called Butterfly, from the Light Years album!
This disc is worth the album alone but the second disc is also very great!!!
~ Disc 2 includes remixes of hits such as Can't Get You Out Of My Head (2 remixes), In Your Eyes (2 remixes), Love At First Sight (2 remixes) including the US Ruff And Jam Version & Come Into My World, the very excellent Fisherspooner Mix.
~ Disc 2 includes Whenever You Feel Like It, a track from the Scooby Doo soundtrack and Tightrope, another excellent B-Side. It Also features Can't Get Blue Monday Out Of My Head, but that can be classed as a remix of Can't Get You Out Of My Head I suppose. It is, dare I say?!?!, better than the original!
~ Disc 2 includes 4 excellent music videos. Including the superb smash Can't Get You Out Of My Head, the excellent videos for In Your Eyes and Love At First Sight, which are both quite similar, plus my personal favourite Kylie video (along with Did It Again, not on this album) Come Into My World!
The remixes, videos, new tracks, singles and album tracks from the album 'Fever' (Japan Hyper Edition) are excellent! Pick it up if you find it! Despite the expensive and high price tag, it is still well-worth it!
This album is defenetily Love @ 1st sight!!!!.......2004-05-19
if you already have Fever or not U have noooo idea what are you missing , This is the best Kylie Package since the Tour edition Of Light Years.
there was already this special edition BUT it didn't include the B sides and 3 more songs and the 4 videos on CD NO 2 that version was released around the world except the US and in Japan they released this excellent version

Keyboardist Neil Larsen's 1978 jazz-fusion release on Horizon Records features the horn work of soloist & session tenor Michael Brecker, who'd previously worked with Jaco Pastorius, Aerosmith and his own Brecker Brothers, among others. Includes: the title track, 'Sudden Samba', 'Last Tango in Paris' & five others.
Customer Reviews:
smooth (but not boring).......2005-05-18
I first heard and purchased this album when it was released and since then have gone through several (vinyl) copies, as I have played it numerous times over the years for myself and friends. What a sonic treat to finally have it beautifully remastered on CD.
The harmonic moods of Neil Larsen's organ combined with Buzz Feiten's guitar create a distinct, haunting, yet bright voice. During that period ('77-'81) Producer Tommy LiPuma was in his prime as a conduit for great talent (Brenda Russell, George Benson, Yellowjackets) and was adept at mining each player's unique talents for their better than best performance.
The tunes here are excellent and inventive. There is a reoccurring 'pop hook' focus to most of these compositions which is typical of the catchy riff syndrome of most '70s and '80s jazz albums that were not in the fusion camp, yet somehow this collection trancends that trend's predictability, mainly due to the vibrant group of musicians who's warm and dynamic interplay will inspire repeated listens.
The follow up LP "High Gear" (released the following year) could be described with an almost identical review, so consider them book end releases, and nab both titles
I would also advise burning back up copies since you'll most likely be playing (and sharing) them for a long time to come.
Non-Duplicated Creativity.......2004-07-06
I love the music of Neil Larsen. I first encountered him on Portland OR FM radio in the late 70s, and have never tired of hearing the tunes form ALL his albums. Many have this incredible latin beat to them . . . I can't help but being energized. Jungle Feaver, Smooth Talk, Through Any Window - they all are the best IMO. I would love to see him perform live. I wish he would put out another record.
Just had to tell all about this artist. The best.
Best Contemporary Jazz Album of all Time (10 stars).......2004-02-24
I searched the internet for a long time before I finally found this on C.D. When it came in the mail, I put it on and it sounded amazing. The Analog to Digital transfer was Excellent. Warm and crystal clear just like the album. Neil Larsen is my favorite instrumental writer and this is his best work. Every song is a masterpiece. Most of the songs are played on the Hammond M3 organ and it is so wonderful to here that rare sound. Buzzy Feiten is in top form. Andy Newmark and Willie Weeks play there butts off and Michael Brecker's solo's are some of the best that I've ever heard him do. I had the pleasure of working with Neil on a project once and I was so blown away by his musical gift. I wrote up some basic charts, put them in front of him, pushed the record button and watched and listened as he played through the songs as if he'd been working on them for weeks. Every part was perfect and in it's place. His sensitivity to the music was amazing. I had run out of time when writing the charts and was not able to write out the last song. I apologized to Neil and asked if we could take a break while I wrote out the last song. He asked me for a piece of music notation paper and then asked me to role the tape. In the time that it took for the song to play through one time, He had written a perfect chart for the entire tune. It totally blew me away (I still have that chart somewhere). I so much wish that Neil would put out another recording like this one - Hammond organ, Guitar, Bass, Drums, Sax and his wonderful writing.
buzz please re-acquaint yourself with Neil.......2003-02-15
It's simply the best Jazz fusion ever played. I can't seem to figure out why Buzz has avoided playing with Neil ever since. Perhaps it Buzz's obsession of training guitar tech how to use his tuning "system"....wake up Buzz...it's about the music...call Neil on the phone today and demand to do a project with him and release it on your web site ...so that we can enjoy it...
Jungle Fever - Catch it........2002-09-04
Jungle Fever is an awesome work from Neil. I bought this on vinyl back in my high school days and while at college, went to see Neil perform in Raleigh, NC. while there, I got Neil to autograph the jacket on the vinyl. My storied past aside, it is so refreshing to see this material available on CD. The sound is tight and undoubtedly someof the best jazz fusion you'll ever hear.
There was some other guy at the Neil Laresn show named Jarraeu.

Well before the release of this solid but slender debut, the Brooklyn-based Yeah Yeah Yeahs were the subject of so much international press hype that the White Stripes were probably taking quick, nervous peeks over their shoulders. But while Fever to Tell captures a lot of what's good about the trio--mostly the caterwauling energy of their club shows--it also exposes the band's limitations. Singer Karen O is the undeniable star here, contorting her voice from a primal P.J. Harvey growl to the pre-orgasmic purr of Chrissie Hynde. Nick Zinner chops, slashes, and torpedoes his guitar around, across, and straight at O's voice, while drummer Brian Chase delivers a suitably raw trash-can thump. There are a lot of cool sounds on this 11-song, 37-minuute disc, and enough metallic-KO attitude to make a bare-chested grandpa like Iggy Pop proud. What's missing is a more varied set of fully fleshed-out songs, the kind it took the White Stripes four albums to write. Hype too early in a career can be terrible burden--ask Liz Phair or, soon enough, the Vines. Better to enjoy Fever to Tell for what it is--an uninhibited blast of garage-rock fury--without swallowing extravagant claims for a potentially great band still under construction. --Keith Moerer

Wow... I can't believe this hasn't rated higher.......2006-03-09
I think this is a really awesome cd from start to finish. Yes, I suppose if you were hoping for an entire album sounding like Maps then maybe it is a bit disappointing but the amazing energy and raw vocals make this a very sustainable orgasm of an album. I mean, I like to f*** to this. I've never heard their other material but I am so deeply impressed and turned on by this effort that I'm seeing there next show pretty soon and if they're good live i'll definately buy their other records.
Really I think this is a 4 star cd but I rated it with a 5 in hopes of bringing it up its overall rating a bit more. But check it out, it's certainly worth a listen or two.
Good edition but not good price.......2006-01-24
this album is a great upgrade from the u.s. edition but hard to follow up on price for the matter and the bonus tracks already appear on their single c.d. "date with the night" so mainly this is a backup if you can't find the single but otherwise a good album for alternative tastse maps is a solid run and hit song while date with the night is just a screech fest till mainly y control gives ou a chill (mainly from the promo video) and to top it off pin is just a bump bump bump beat track this c.d. is not a solid grunge album mainly to play on like lounge or whatever...
Y-Control... or Lost Control?.......2005-12-17
It seems as though the Yeah Yeah Yeahs have gone from super-original with "Maps," to just another rotten band, uninspired and drained of creativity. Karen O seems to have a nice, controlled voiced in "Maps" but sometimes, in her other songs, you just want to plug your ears. I don't actually have this CD, but I've heard nearly all of the songs on it and they're nothing like "Maps." Don't get me wrong, the songs are good. In particular, I like "Maps", "Date With the Night", "Rich", "Y-Control", and "Black Tongue", but like someone has already said, if you're buying this CD for "Maps" and hoping the other songs are just as good, don't buy it. I think of the other songs as a softer kind of Distillers song, if you know who the Distillers are. If you enjoy the Distillers but want something you can understand a bit better then this CD is great for you.
this rocks!.......2004-06-19
if your getting this cd just for the song "maps" and hoping the rest of the cd sounds the same, you might want to think twice.if you like pj harvey you might like this.my fav. songs are rich, black tongue, maps and y control.

1994 Canadian Import on the "Point Records" label
---------------------
January 26, 2005 - Ray Peterson has died from cancer. Ray enjoyed a handful of pop hits during the early 1960s, among them the Phil Spector-produced "Corrina Corrina" and the car-crash melodrama "Tell Laura I Love Her." Born April 23, 1939 in Denton, TX, he spent much of his childhood recovering from polio, and during an extended stay in a nearby treatment facility he began performing for his fellow patients. As Peterson's health returned he began singing professionally in local clubs, eventually relocating to Los Angeles; there he was discovered by manager Stan Shulman, signing to RCA in 1958. The owner of a four-octave voice, Peterson's early material ran the gamut from teen ballads like "Let's Try Romance" to covers including Little Willie John's "Fever," all to little success; he finally scored a hit in 1959 with "The Wonder of You," which reached the Top 30 in both the U.S. and the U.K.

Customer Reviews:
An easy one to pass by.......2004-10-06
Nothing here for the casual fan. For that matter, not much here for the serious fan either. From what I understand, this album was something of an attempt at a concept album, but I'm apparently conceptually vacant because the only thread I can find unravels when pulled and forms a mess of silly string. I'm not sure if it was an attempt at humor or what, but this album featured "Once Bitten Twice Shy", a cover of a cover of an old Ian Hunter/Mott The Hoople song. The joke is that it was covered by Great White, who also covered some Angels tunes, so think of this as the Angels covering Great White, who covered the Angels. Now that I think of it, I must not have much of a sense of humor either.

Rick Derringer, who had formerly played with the McCoys and the Winter brothers, Edgar and Johnny, went solo in the early-mid seventies. His solo debut album, All American Boy, was released in 1973. On the album he covered Rock And Roll Hoochie Koo, a song he had originally done with Johnny Winter. The new version of the old Johnny Winter song became a huge hit. Unfortunately, it was to be Derringer's ONLY solo hit. After All American Boy, Derringer released several more solo albums, but they all tanked due to the lack of another hit single. Does this mean they are bad albums, though? Read on for my review of Rick's second solo effort, Spring Fever, and find out!
It devastates me that Rick Derringer's solo career beyond his first album was a commercial failure, because he released some great music! Spring Fever continues on in the tradition of the All American Boy album, giving us more of the blues rock excellence that LP served up. Even though none of these songs had any chart success, every one of them is a great song. While I wouldn't say that this album tops Derringer's solo debut, I must say it does come very close. There are ten tracks on this album, and not a weak one in the whole lot. Derringer even covers Hang On Sloopy, the hit single he performed in the McCoys in the sixties, while he was still a young teenager. The new version kills the old McCoys version dead! And, of course, everything else this album serves up flat out rules. I can't really come up with anything else to say. Where this album succeeds, it succeeds beautifully. Why it wasn't a chart success is beyond me. If you liked the All American Boy album, or you just want to see what Derringer did other than Rock And Roll Hoochie Koo, Spring Fever is a must-buy.
This album's availability is disappointing. It's long out of print and currently only available as a pricey import. Fortunately, one of the import versions of the album available combines the LP with its predecessor, All American Boy! If you can find the twofer, it will be a fine investment if you're into classic rock. DO NOT BUY THE ALBUMS SEPARATELY - THE TWOFER IS A MUCH BETTER DEAL!
And there you have it. Spring Fever was a killer sophomore release from Rick Derringer. Although All American Boy is the better album overall, this is a worthy follow-up that continues on a sound in that direction. If you liked Derringer's solo debut, the follow-up is worth buying. It's just a shame Derringer's solo career lacked any major success, because his music was so damn good. Do yourself a favor and discover or rediscover his music. You'll be glad you did.
