"The best kept secret in the Metal scene" - (9.5/10)
Product Description
Absolutely amazing album by the band already acclaimed "The Prussian Treasure"! Brilliant, wrathful vocals mix superbly with majestic, noble symphonic sound and sophisticated, technically perfect solos. The music immediately grips the listener and enchants them with its power and intensity! Their first full-length "Damnation of Rergiomontum" sold very well, thus making the band recognizable on Eastern Europe metal scene. The band performed with The Baltic Symphony Orchestra and The Prussian Chamber Choir! Grand Orchestration Black Metal recommended for Cradle of Filth and Therion maniacs!!! Soundtrack to your most terrifying, yet fascinating nightmare; nightmare you'd like to last forevil...

dragon overated.......2007-06-25
dragonforce is awesome dont get me wrong, but there are much better bands out there. this cd is great i love it. a few songs on here somewhat suck. but its worth buying. if anything the best two songs are the first two. if you dont like anything else with a constant whammy, just buy the songs you like on itunes.
Meh...........2007-05-02
This is my first (and only) Dragonforce CD and honestly I tried... I tried real hard to like it, but I just don't get what people see in it. Yes, these guys are very skilled. Which is why I can't possibly give them a very low rating; guys this technically adept don't deserve the lowest rating! But these songs are just so uninteresting to me. One track sounds exactly like the next. It's just shred, shred, shred, at full-throttle, nonstop. I guess that's the point... but I find myself thinking "I can't wait for this CD to end already so I can put on something else..."
And in fact I like power metal as a genre, in general. Including the fantasy lyrics and everything. But I guess I like something with a bit more added interest, like some symphonic elements maybe, or a bit more progressive elements, or at least some occasional variation in tempo! A lot of folks put down Yngwie Malmsteen for "soul-less shredding" and I've never agreed with them; I like Yngwie Malmsteen's music a lot and I find quite a few of his compositions interesting and emotionally rich as well. But for some reason that is the very problem I have with this Dragonforce CD; the compositions don't seem very creative, and in the midst of all this breakneck speed it just seems to lack feeling...
Conan the Guitararian.......2007-04-14
No seriously, this album is amazing. Dragonforce is amazing. Any band that sings about epic quests, battling demons, blazing mountains of power, heroes of the night, fires of doom, tasting steel death, and so on, deserves homage. All you hear from most rock bands today is some punk kid whining about how depressed he is, or that he's lost without his girlfriend, or that he hates society. Then there is Dragonforce. Epic songs at a mind-exploding pace combining every fantasy book and RPG game I've played crunched into audio bliss.
Excellent Metal.......2007-02-21
Incredible music! To all those who love speed metal, this is one of the greatest!
Awesome!.......2007-02-19
This is awesome. Very intense, powerful...a 'marathon of music.' The lyrics are amazing, as are the vocals and guitars. The melodies are great as well; this is one of those CDs where you can just totally lose yourself for an hour again and again. And scream along to the music. Or, just enjoy it quietly, whichever you like...either way, definitely awesome, and definitely a worthy purchase.

Amazing..........2006-04-05
I am very lucky to have heard of Tvangeste. I absolutley love this album. It is very atmospheric. It keeps me interested the whole way through, unlike some albums that fly over your head when "listening" to them. I also own an earlier album than Firestorm called "Damnation of Regiomontum" (which is not listed on Amazon).
This is also amazing. If you are new to this band, these two cds are a must have for any black metal fans out there.
A masterwork of symphonic black metal majestic darkness.......2006-01-14
As a fan of black metal, I have enjoyed the under produced black punk of Darkthrone, Gorgoroth and Burzum as well as the symphonic grandeur of Cradle of Filth and Emperor. From this later camp comes Tvangeste and "Firestorm", which I am completely impressed with. A black metal record of the epic, symphonic kind has much to accomplish to be successful, unlike black punk, purposely simplistic and evocatively cold. The inclusion of the Baltic symphony orchestra was a brilliant move, and the atmosphere and clear production is priceless. "Firestorm" lives up to the task without skipping over brutality, especially certain VoKill moments. Great riffing and the inclusion of female operatics without losing focus. A true beauty and the beast journey, tragic and yet victorious. I can also hear the folk music of Prussia in the echoing distance, which adds to the identity of this band. I hope Tvangeste continue after this sophomore masterpiece.
Furthermore, I think releases like this help to bridge the gap between extreme metal and wonderful MUSIC, the word music, without genre associations, simple and direct. Metal not just for black or gothic or dark metal fans, but music for plain enjoyment and maybe for everyone to hear. Perhaps I'm being a little too idealistic, but I enjoy other types of music. This type just happens to be my favorite, and this record a perfect example of it, and a must for anyone who finds Therion sometimes too clean and Cradle of Filth overly moody, which I often appreciate. "Firestorm" sets the same mood throughout without sounding repetitive, a feat in itself.
And for those black metal purists that prefer one camp over the other, a coin is two sided for a reason. One side would be incomplete without the other.
Raw misanthropy and freeze needs majesty and darkness.
.......2005-09-04
This is a good example of how a pupil rarely becomes better than its
teacher. And while it is a bit unfair to explicitely bring the name
Cradle of Filth into the equation here, there's no denying where
Tvangeste has drawn their inspiration from. The music reflects enough
confidence to command a degree of respect and admiration. The band
employs an orchestra and a chamber choir into their music, not to mention
a wide range of vocal styles, including both shrieky and clean male
vocals, regular and operatic-like female vocals, and whispers. We also
have the keyboards up front providing sufficient meat to the bones. Did I
mention about the violins and flutes? I guess my point is that this is not
your typical symphonic metal band. This is much more complex, more
audacious and definitely a very enlightening and abstract journey. The
affective artistic content within is an inherent pictorial exhortation
that has rekindled my faith in a genre that otherwise tends to sound
fatigued and optimistic. I am by no means a fan of many of the elements
that are combined here, but when it's done well the results can be
satisfying. I wouldn't call this black metal either, since this genre in
its own right is strictly traditional and primitive, which is how it
should be.Just call it highly developed symphonic metal with identity.
From Russia with love.
Tvangeste.......2004-12-04
I still don't know how to pronounce the bandname, but I can define their work; excellent! The guitar and drum work are excellent, the symphonic element adds grandeur and power, dominating and crushing weakness in today's black metal scene. The atheistic lyrics are intelligently written, but the extreme vocals are dry heaving, while still good, need work.
The Intro and 'Under The Black Raven's Wings' track leads and violates, eventually leading into elevating madness. "Birth of the Hero" is an anthem to evil, "Fire In Our Hearts" and "Godless Freedom" are mesmerizing. "Storm" intrigues and opens eyes with psychotic themes, and "Tears" closes the opus with majesty and honor.
This album is comparable in sound to Dimmu Borgir's "Puritannical Euphoric Misanthropia" and Arcturus' "La Masquerade Infernale", but with more captivating song structures and more operatic themes.
An album for any avant-garde black metal fan! Brilliant from start to finish!

Recycled.......2006-04-29
When Dragonforce came out with Valley of the Damned, wow, that really was a great album. They were fast, yes, and they had their crazy double bass drumming and the high power metal vocals, but they actually had a melody too. That basically all changes in sonic firestorm. They have ONE good song, my spirit will go on, and the rest is just recycled riffs from Valley of the Damned or other songs on this very same album. I swear I hear the exact same riffs from My Spirit Will Go On on about 3 other songs in this album, solo's are very similar, etc.
The songwriting is really down a notch here, there is NO real melody, its just crazy speed. I personally don't like it, Dragonforce basically lost its identity with this album and they are just a boring power metal clone with the exception that they play things fast...for those of you who want to hear some *good* Dragonforce, try Valley of the Damned, now that was a great album. This one? Well if you get tired of repetative music, you'll hate it. But if you like Dragonforce's musical equation and are willing to hear it again and again, then by all means...
Excellent, But It's Been Done Before.......2006-03-31
Just heard this, but on first impression it's definitely one of the best power metal albums to come out in recent years. Decent clean vocals, double-bass drumming from hell, virtuoso guitar work, and anthemic choruses in 'A' are all here in abundance. While this is a well-worn formula, DF still manage to make it sound great by going for a very 'pure' sound. They avoid sounding pompus and/or cheesy, like many of the Italian power bands, and they also infuse some real enthusiasm & energy into the tunes, rather than just doing paint-by-numbers Euro-power metal, like many of the formerly good German bands (Hammerfall, Edguy, Gamma Ray). A good comparison would be a faster & more interesting Lost Horizon.
The only reason I'm gonna withhold a star is because this all HAS been done before. Helloween perfected the style 20 years ago during the Kiske era, and while DF do a better job than any other power band I've heard in years, they are re-inventing the wheel rather than being truly innovative (and no, playing it all a lil' faster doesn't count as innovative ;-) ).
Dragonforce is..........2006-03-15
...the force to be reckoned with! I remember when they were just starting out... had a demo album on mp3.com, which I ordered. They have progressed so fast it's mind-blowing. You will not find better musicianship or so many well-crafted songs played with such fury and passion. The guitar playing is just insane virtuosity -by far more impressive to me than the likes of Yngwie (who I adored) and Symphony X's guitarist... and the drummer, with his deathmetal background, is very very fast! He has to be, to keep up with the blazing guitars that fly all over the fretboard. The riffing is the most incredible thing about Dragonforce, besides their sheer spirit, which I'd have to say is greater than Lost Horizon's by now. This is a burning light of what metal is all about.
Very Exellent Album.......2005-01-15
For those who love to listen to any type of rock, be it classic, modern 80's or whatever, this album is for you. It plays with the modern techniques yet not spoiling the music with some lead "singer" screaming like he is constipated. Instead you have a high tenor who has a wide range, and also gives you an 80's feel to the music. And ya we all love the 80's right? The speed is great, the talent of this band is phonominal, and I recommend it to any lover of rock. Any body who enjoys rock can appritiate this album.
Dragonforce - Sonic Firestorm.......2004-07-28
This album is amazing, it's fast, heavy, it's got amazing solos in it and i cant stop listening to it. My advice if you like this kinda music is.... GET IT!

Short, but sweet.......2004-03-12
Ok, so probably the furthest thing from 'sweet'....This little EP is eXc's anthem and an essential for any fan of the band, hardcore, sXe............
Full force.......2004-02-29
This EP is Earth Crisis coming at you in full force and giving the world a hint of what was to come out of Destroy the Machines and Gomorrah's Season. The lyrics and the music are dead on in their message, check out some of the lyrics to Eden's Demise, "The oceans diseased, the stricken lands decay. Mankind's supremist mentality has set this world ablaze. Nature's plan forever altered, animals lost to extinction. This society based on greed fuels the onslaught of destruction. ... To end the enslavement and slaughter, the antidote is veganism. Don't let your outrage for injustice end where your selfishness begins. I have conquered through selfcontrol, together we can win. Respect for nature and innocent life, the end of human over human oppression. A peaceful world can evolve after animal liberation."
Buy this now.......2001-12-08
This album got me involved in the vsxe movement. Awesome awesome awesome (thats three awesomes). Heavy music and the best straight vocalist/lyricist out there before his style got death metaly. Buy it and "street by street, block by block, we'll take it all back"
as hard as it gets.......2001-10-09
this is the most fundamentally important of all the earth crisis releases. everything the band was about - crunching death-core sound with eco lyrics is available here. only about 10 minutes long, but well worth the money. thoroughly recommended.
Best EC album.......2000-09-13
This is their best album in my opinion. The sound of this album parallels snapcase's "lookinglasself," kind of bland b/c of the recording studio, but you forget that after a minute. "Firestorm" has great chugga riffs all the way through it, even gets really fast in a few parts, and Karl's vocals sound their best, not so slurred and scratchy. Definitely get this album if you like EC or hardcore in general.
