Customer Reviews:
Not their best effort.......2007-03-31
Guess I'm just spoiled by Yankee Stadium - which seems to contain all of their BEST work!
Perhaps they should renamed that CD: NRBQ's Greatest Hits?
Hurrah for Wounded Bird Records.......2006-04-05
For bringing this and other storied, yet inexplicably out-of-print recordings (see also Jesse Winchester, Marshall Crenshaw) back into print. And this is indeed a fine recording, full of tuneful play and playful tunes. Go to www.woundedbird.com for info on their other reissues!
A welcome return..........2006-01-26
... to "in print" status for this, amongst the most accessible studio recordings from the long & storied career of NRBQ. "Rain At The Drive-In," of course, is one of the bands many "shoulda-beena" hits; a definitive version of Johnny Cash's "Get Rhythm" (recorded again for "At Yankee Stadium," another essential Q recording); "I Like That Girl," one of many 'Q recordings to appear on The Simpsons; live set stalwarts like "12 Bar Blues," "Smackaroo" and "Daddy-O." Simply a great, great, American rock& roll album.

Customer Reviews:
A shame this is Outta Print in the States..........1999-12-07
Another lost musical nugget from the 80's. One listen to this album tells you the boys in the band never had any intentions whatsoever to stay in touch with 80's musical trends. An album of this musical quality, folk/rock mixed with 50's style R&B, such as "12 Bar Blues," and a touch of Burt Bacharach on "My Girlfriend's Pretty," plus touching sly lyrics on "A Girl Like That," never had a chance in the 80's. Even the production sounds timeless. Good ol' fashioned rock n'roll. A bar band album with something extra. Brains.

Album Description
Terry Anderson makes listening to music easy, fun and righteous. Unpretentiousness rules the day with his latest release. Formerly a member of the late '80's band. The Woods and more recently The Backsliders and Don Dixon's Band. Anderson is known for his songwriting & has been covered by Georgia Satellites and Dan Baird.
Customer Reviews:
Fun, fun, fun!.......2005-01-28
Terry Anderson is tight with Dan Baird, and you can definitely hear it in the music. This album is not quite as Faces-like as Baird's solo stuff; it's kind of halfway between a Baird solo record and a Rockpile album. The songwriting is sharp, funny but not jokey (with the exception of the novelty Safety First, which is one of the album's weaker tracks). NRBQ fans will be happy to see two cowrites with Big Al Anderson.
All in all, this album is just a great big party, perfect for throwing in the car stereo, rolling down the windows, and cranking that sucker up as loud as it will go. If you like true rock and roll--stuff that's juiced-up and swings, like Chuck Berry--you oughta love this disc too.
A MUST HAVE!.......2004-10-31
Again, Terry Anderson shows his gifted song writing abilities and with a
little more humor this time around. The musicianship is superb.
Terry and Dave Adams did a hell of a job on this disc, very clean and crisp,
yet full sounding, a true pleasure to listen to. Everyone who loves rock n roll
should own this disc. I can't wait for his next solo effort.
Good Rockin' Fun.......2002-05-23
Terry Anderson mentions that Dave Edmunds was a big inspiration for this collection of rollicking tunes, and "I'll Drink To That" sizzles with the energy of Edmunds at his best. Anderson is an experienced songwriter and demonstrates his craft here. There's no filler to be found. Each song is chock-full of hooks. "$ of an Education" starts up this rock 'n' roll train, and things roll on steadily from there. Other high points include the ultra-catchy pop of "Boyfriend 2" and the irresistable fun of "Church Folks Comin'". While the final track, the ballady "Stay Away From Your Heroes", strays from the basic formula of upbeat rockers, it still demonstrates Anderson's sheer skill as a songwriter. "I'll Drink To That" is about as close to guaranteed rock 'n' roll pleasure that you can achieve via CD. Fans of Dave Edmunds, Nick Lowe, NRBQ, even Chuck Berry will all love this one. It's so much fun, you might want to call up your friends, get something to drink, put on "I'll Drink To That", and have yourself a party.
A witty, fun rocker not to be missed - tell your friends!.......2002-03-07
Terry Anderson, fresh out of Bunn, NC, is an unsung hero in today's music industry. If you like rock n' roll as found in the Georgia Satelites, Dan Baird, the Yayhoos and -- yes, the world's most underrated/promoted 'band' NRBQ -- as well as some light-hearted country twinges and a folk croon, you have got to grab this real winner from Terry.
More polished yet not over produced in comparison to previous efforts, there is great variety for every taste here. Terry's vocals are downhome and upfront, full of emotion and honesty. The first three are fun rockers with a lot of wit - and wisdom: "$ for an Education", the Daddy Bit the Dust (or did he?) "Daddy Had A Wreck" and then the hillbilly hoot "Killin Down In Dillon". Throw in "Safety First" and "Church Folks Comin'" for breather and laughs, you will really enjoy the hilarious "37 Miles In Reverse" and "Mr. Busdriver", featuring "Big" Al Anderson (former NRBQ) in a rippin' guitar solo. For me, the rest of the tunes are good and solid and manage to kee the flow going at different paces.
Lookin for a diamond in the rough? Look no further. This CD is pure fun, rock and pure open lovin' of life. It ranked at the top of my favorite overall CDs for the year. Some of these songs will have you humming unforgettable melodies and singing the crazy refrains. Now there are some great images in there too to make some dandy fine videos!
