5 out of 5 stars Better than it used to be.......2006-11-17

I am a huge Status Quo fan, I barely remember purchasing the "LP" back in the 70's. The remastering of this album is great & I love this cd! If you are a Quo fan or just enjoy wall good rock-n-roll, this is a must buy - Claudie, Caroline, Reason for Living, Forty-Five Hundred Times never sounded so good. Enjoy.

5 out of 5 stars Status Quo Keeps Delivering.......2006-03-09

With HELLO, Status Quo delivers another great album of hard-driving blues-boogie that's equally good for dancing to or exercising to. Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt are great on guitars and vocals, singing rather than screaming, and while Rossi can't match Paul Rodgers, Derek St. Holmes, early Sammy Hagar, or Dave Peverett for soul, at least he's more pleasant to listen to than a guy like say, Kevin Dubrow, and has a wonderful sense of how to properly phrase a lyric. The band continues on the strong path begun with PILEDRIVER, proving that it's doubly unfair that the Quo never made it big over here. The band members' belief that the young Australian tourist jailed in Indonesia since last spring on drug-smuggling charges was unjustly convicted makes this CD an essential purchase for both your ears AND your conscience.

3 out of 5 stars A Definite Upgrade On Previous Releases.......2005-02-13

Can not fault the music, definite 5 stars. But, the overall sound of this "remaster"? The sound is very "treble heavy" & "harsh" sounding. I actually had to turn the treble EQ on my car stereo into the "negative" range. However, it may be the master tapes who are at fault here, so I'm not really laying blame. The remainder of the remastering is flawless. The guitars & vocals ring true with Lancaster's bass thumping away clearer than ever. If you are reading this, you are no doubt a Status Quo fan debating on whether to drop some extra cash on this "remaster". My advice? You gotta have it, so get it; there is a big here improvement over the original import cd release. If you can wait awhile, I'm sure zShops will even see some at a much lower cost in a few months.
New update...turns out the master tapes left much to be desired on the high end. Still a huge improvement and upgrade over the older releases. (I would actually upgrade my review to 4 stars, but the system won't allow it.) Plus you can find this on zShops now for a real good price. So what are you waiting for!

4 out of 5 stars Great Songs, But Unnecessary If You Have the Album.......2003-06-05

"Say Hello to the Angels" is the third single off of Interpol's debut CD "Turn On the Bright Lights", one of the very best releases of 2002. The album has generated great buzz, and through non-stop touring since last Fall, it seems that Interpol might break out of the "indie" circuit and reach greater audiences.

As the 2 best tracks on "Turn on the Bright Lights" (PDA; Obstacle 1) already have been released as singles, the record label faces a tough task in deciding on the next single. Matador came out with a "split decision", and chose a "double A" sides single: "Say Hello to the Angels" is another great, up-tempo, guitar wall-of-sound track. "NYC" is the most intravert song on the album, an ode of sorts to Interpol's hometown ("New York Cares"). The last track is a demo version of "NYC".

These are great songs, and deserve a larger audience. But if you have the album already, why buy this? Rather than a demo-version of "NYC", the label should have added some live tracks of recent shows, or other hard-to-find tracks like "5", "Precipitate" or "Specialist". If on the other hand you don't own the album yet and just wanna sample Interpol, this is a great way to start.

Yes! It's the best album of BLUE SYSTEM.

Two singles from this album were produced - "Romeo & Juliet" (Febr.©1992) and "I Will Survive" (May©1992). Both Singles are wonderful.
Also, you should pay attention to "Heartache No.9", "Unfinished Rhapsody" and "Wonderful World".

4 out of 5 stars Dieter says âýýHELLO AMERICAâýý with his 7th Blue System album........2003-08-29

This is truly a great album for Blue System the single ROMEO & JUILET is one of the best Blue System single as it reached no.25 in the German charts, as this is the only single released from this album. The album it self reached no.29 and that means it is very unappreciated my favourite tracks here are:

ROMEO & JUILET
VAMPIRE
CROSSING THE RIVER
UNFINISHED RHASPSODIE
I LIKE YOUR SEXY BODY

The last track titled â€~FINAL’ is the same song as â€~Crossing The River’ but without the singing, this track is a classic music piece as someone like Mozart would produce something like this. I would recommend this album to all the fans it’s worth the money but I must say it isn’t the bets Blue System album.
FACT: This is a Gold selling album

4 out of 5 stars Physician & musician!.......2001-06-08

Here's a hello from Johannesburg, Dr Alban! Dr Alban, a Nigerian resident in Sweden, raps a profound message to his homeland and the rest of Africa using a curious Afro-Swedish mix: a type of music he described as Jungle Reggae Hip Hop. The friendly and uplifting title track was a huge hit while No Coke, the 2nd hit single, takes the reggae rhythm more seriously and is perhaps the best track on the album. But there are more surprises: familiar hooklines, a name check of all the "stars" in the new South Africa and on China Man he adds a bit of "jing yang ching yang hoo" to his already exotic Afro-Western mix. This buoyant sound adds a new dimension to the sound of reggae.

    Customer Reviews:

    3 out of 5 stars Hello!.......2002-03-15

As someone who grew up in the 1980's I love the unique British Rock Beat and the memories this CD brings.

My favourites are 'Say Hello,Wave Goodbye','Torch','Bedsitter' ,'You Only Live Twice'(wasn't that used as the theme song for the James Bond Movie of the same name?) and Chips On My Shoulder'

Only those who grew up in the 80's can appreciate this music , and as someone who has grown more conservative over the years , I can deal with the more obnoxious ,nihilistic lyrics by simply taking them with a pinch of salt as they should be.
However I must say that I do find the self-pitying whining about being too 'ordinary' in frustration quite irritating.
For that I take off a star.

    5 out of 5 stars Includes a rare B-side!.......1999-04-09

This is a nice package, if a little uneven, of various Soft Cell material. However, the best part of it (and well worth the price) is the rare B-side, "A Man Could get Lost". This song was the flip of the 7" "Memorabilia", from February 1981, and recorded in December 1980. An early glimpse at two musical geniuses. Don't confuse this "A Man Could Get Lost" with the cheesy 1982 remix found on "Non Stop Ecstatic Dancing". Now if they would only reissue the 1980 Soft Cell EP, "Mutant Moments", we would have a complete picture. (Oh, and the 1981 Some Bizzare Album as well!)

Hello Nasty is definately a solid album in every respect. It's one of the few new releases this year I can listen to without skipping a track. And the live version of "Slow and Low" on the import is certainly worth the extra money for any dedicated B-Boy fan.

    5 out of 5 stars Ella's best.......2003-03-10

Since I first knew Ella I loved both her scat singing and her lovely treatment of ballads. When I knew few of her work I dreamed about her singing a song that I learned from Miss Monroe on "Someone like it hot", that is "I'm thru with love".

When I discovered this Album, I unhearted a trasure full of gemms and gold, that everytime gives me joy and pure emotions! I simply LOVE this album, and I hope it will be soon reissue on standard CD, so that everyone in the world could listen to it, everyday, forever!!!!

5 out of 5 stars The perfect Lady.......2001-08-04

This was an album of surprises after all those songbooks! It is a fantastic numbers of songs delivered by Ella in fantastic back-up. Each song is a favorite of mine and her delivery is probaly at her best. This has been a favorite of mine for since its released and I just bought another copy imported and I could listed at several times a day. I miss her and gems like this very much. Enjoy yourself and have it in your special albums for all time....

    5 out of 5 stars Hello Love.......1999-12-18

This is Ella at her best...warm, romantic and beautiful ballads with lush arrangements. Don't miss out on this gem of a CD!

5 out of 5 stars ANOTHER SHINING HOUR FOR ELLA.......1999-08-19

In between her many SONGBOOK projects that propelled her into superstardom, Ella graced us with a handful of albums like this one. The material in this album was culled from 3 separate recording dates with Frank DeVol and his orchestra. Most of the material, including four tracks also apppearing here were released on Ella's timeless album "LIKE SOMEONE IN LOVE". But even if you own that album, its wise to get this counterpart collection as well. Ella revisits one of her earliest hits STAIRWAY TO THE STARS, and as mature as her voice had become, you can still hear the sweetness of youth that she exuded when she recorded it with Chick Webb eons earlier...A very lavishly poignant reading of "I'VE GROWN ACCUSTOMED TO HIS FACE" is the featured 7th track here. I'm sure Lerner and Loewe finally realized what a superb song they wrote upon hearing Miss Fitzgerald's reading. Other standouts include the wistful "YOU GO TO MY HEAD", "I'M THROUGH WITH LOVE", and even "TENDERLY" a song I never cared for until hearing Ella sing it. And I'm sure you'll enjoy Ella's lovely reading of "SPRING WILL BE A LITTLE LATE THIS YEAR". So this album's on special order...get the LIKE SOMEONE IN LOVE cd shipped to you first, then listen to both back to back!
