The single 'Girls Are The New Boys' from Saloon's debut was voted #1 on John Peel's 2002 Festive 50. After the success of their 2002 debut, (This is) What We Call Progress (Darla), Saloon bring the eagerly awaited follow up, If We Meet In The Future, recorded & produced by the band in their own studio, Bellasonic Sounds. Saloon blend folk-rock, kraut-rock & electronica, with vocals in French, Spanish & English. The sound of Saloon is that of electronic & acoustic, the future & the past. Tracks like 'Kaspian' & 'Dreams Mean Nothing' show a more fragile side to the band & add to the diversity of the record when placed along side the more immediate pop soundscapes of 'The Good Life' & 'Absence'. From the spiritual home of shoegazing, Reading, Saloon have been together for 5 years. The band have toured the UK extensively playing gigs in the UK, Spain, France & Holland. The band has played with the

4 out of 5 stars Sallon Goes At It Again.......2004-01-29

I have always been a fan of this kind of shoe-gazer music. The lead singer has a good voice (a woman, by the way). Although it isn't necessarily the best, it fits very well with the laid back, dreamy sort of 60s sounding loungy music. However, Saloon does not stick to "lounge" by any means. They throw in a violin on several occasions and I always like their interesting instrumentation. They've created a very fragile and precious sort of sound and everything fits together perfectly in this album.
