Customer Reviews:
Great CD, they deserve more recognition.......2004-12-23
After hearing the song "Don't Cry for Us" on LaunchCast, I was determined to hear more songs by Justincase. I bought their self-titled CD, JUSTINCASE, not long after hearing that song. It was an awesome purchase, and I love this CD, as well as this band.
Highlights of the CD are:
*Don't Cry for Us - There's a music video for this song on the Justincase official website, so I'm guessing this was their first single. With great lyrics and outstanding vocals, I don't know why it didn't get more attention.
*Tell Me (What I Mean to You) - Justin Tosco (the lead singer) has a great voice, and I really like this song. It's pretty sad, like a few other songs on this CD, and its easy to relate to. It has really catchy lyrics ("Tell me, am I a fool? Thinking that you needed me there?") that are fun to sing along to.
*Without You (featuring Michelle Branch) - This is, hands down, the most heartfelt song on JUSTINCASE. It is also the saddest song on the CD, and its beautiful. Michelle Branch and Justin Tosco both have great (although unique) voices, and they sound awesome together.
*9:14 - 9:14 is just a funky, nonsensical song. With the only swear word on the CD (and at that, it's just d*mn, nothing too offensive), its another good "teen angsty" song.
JUSTINCASE is a great CD by a great band. The three bandmates are siblings, which is somewhat cliched, but don't let that change your mind. This is an amazing CD that doesn't get old or annoying. Highly recommended.
Overall grade - A+
justincase you weren't there from the beginning ...........2004-02-27
I've had this CD from the minute it was able to be preordered ... I first saw JIC play in December of 1999 when they were playing mainly gigs at small North Carolina festivals and a few birthday parties. Even from their sound then, one could tell that JIC was destined to be great. They have come a VERY long way since then and this CD is living proof of what the Tosco siblings are capeable of. Justin's vocals, Nick's drums, and Hannah's bass all blend together to form a wonderful album that is testament to how far they have come since they started. I promise that if you never buy another album but this you're money won't be wasted. It's not often that you find a hometown, sibling band this worthy of a record contract ... or more so.
One of the best!.......2003-12-25
This album is definitely one of the best. Justincase writes all their own music, there's no poppy happy feeling in all their songs (like Britney). Justin has an AMAZING voice (not to mention hot bod)! I love how they put so much effort into EVERY SINGLE SONG, not just like slop a couple of so-so songs together. This is no doubt the must have album of the year!
Impressive Debut.......2003-07-12
I came upon Justincase because I am a member of Michelle Branch's street team; Michelle felt that this particular was so talented that she was going to personally promote them. Knowing this, I decided to check them out. I was not disappointed.
This album is an extremely impressive debut. The band consists of siblings Justin, Hannah, and Nick Tosco. They write and play their own music, which is always a plus. And they manage to do both well.
The lead single "Don't Cry for Us" is great. It has a very catchy bass line that immediately had me bobbing my head upon first listening. It's about losing someone close to you (it could be death or just a break up) and the comfort that comes with knowing that someone understands (It's hard to know just what to do in times like these.../It's good to know you feel the same).
"Tell Me (What I Mean to You)" is one of my favorite tracks. This song is about missing everything you once enjoyed with a boyfriend/girlfriend. Another favorite of mine is "Without You," which features Michelle Branch. Justin and Michelle's vocals compliment each other perfectly on the chorus.
However, I think the best track on this disc is "It Was Something." It has a great upbeat feel, almost country (sounds like there may be a banjo playing at the opening). It's hard to resist dancing to the chorus here; the subtle bass line gives you something to tap your feet to. (Note: This is the song that gave the band their name)
Justincase is a great debut. The band has amazing potential, and I am highly anticipating their next album.
Standout songs: Don't Cry for Us, Tell Me (What I Mean to You), Without You, It Was Something, Constellation
pretty average soft rock.......2003-05-11
i had never heard justincase before i saw them recently at merlefest in north carolina. i saw nothing great but i dont really ever listen to disposable pop. the band is pretty much just another goo goo dolls with a few distorted pop-punk ... songs. so i guess you could say its sorta like a mix between the foo fighters and goo goo dolls. they are nothing i would fork over [money] to listen to so my suggestion is that if you are hung up on hearing this band ....
