Product Description
42-track 3 CD box set. Bucks Fizz were one of the biggest bands of the early 1980's. Eurovision Song Contest winners Bobby G, Cheryl Baker, Mike Nolan and Jay Aston's sparkling performance of 'Making Your Mind Up' earned them an instant place in musical folklore, and an international number one hit. Following in the footsteps of Abba, Bucks Fizz redefined the public's expectations of a boy/girl band - with exciting dance routines and regular visual image changes. Bucks Fizz's string of hit singles and albums earned them many Gold and Silver discs, with songs such as 'If You Can't Stand The Heat', and the chart toppers 'Land Of Make Believe' and 'My Camera Never Lies'- all of which are included here. BMG. 2005.

Customer Reviews:
Almost a perfect compilation from the Legend.......2007-01-09
All the hits are there. At least, probably, 99% of the songs you'd like to have or listening to from Dionne can be found on this compilation. Oops! I couldn't find "Always Something There To Remind Me", though!
nice collection.......2006-03-15
This is the most complete collection of Dionne's Arista hits so far. The only drawback is that there are no lyrics and liner notes. Maybe a showcase of her album covers should be included too. Sony BMG can also consider releasing a DVD featuring her videos (if she has any) so that we can keep it as a collection of our memories.
Best music value in Years!.......2006-01-31
Please take my advice...get this collection now or forever hold thy mouse...it simply does not get any better than this.Wow what an incredible value and not to mention collection. This 3 cd compilation comes from Germany and the mastering is superb.GET IT!!!
EXCELLENT OVERVIEW OF ARISTA YEARS WITH FEW FLAWS.......2005-12-29
I've been waiting a few weeks for mine because of holiday mailings and such. This Dionne collection of the Arista Years (1979-1994) is the best out there, except for two small flaws (though still rates 5 stars).
First flaw is not including a single B-side from the Michael Masser sessions that were done for the studio side of "Hot! Live and Otherwise" in 1981. The song, "This Time Is Ours" is one of Dionne's best of the period, and should have been an A-side. It was relegated to the flip of the ballad single "Some Changes Are For Good". The saving grace with this set is that the entire Side 4 of that album is included on Disc 1 here, even if not in original LP track order. I believe with this set, the Steve Buckingham produced "Dedicate This Heart" makes its CD debut, because it was left off both the long out-of-print US and Japan issues of "Hot..." The lovely "This Time Is Ours" has never been on a Dionne album or a CD release.
Second flaw is that not one track was used from the last Arista CD "Aquarela Du Brazil". Granted, not a best seller, but still a nice package, I would have included at least one track (as was done with "Night And Day" (Jazz Version) from "Sings Cole Porter"). The third CD only clocks in at under 69 minutes, so there was room, but Disc 3 ends with tracks from the "Friends Can Be Lovers" CD, which was an oversighted gem when released in 1993. Absolutely one of Dionne's best albums.
Overall, it is very comprehensive and covers a great deal of ground. A note for the fans - DEJA VU on Disc 1 is not the single version, but the 5:08 album version.
Since this is an import, I am hoping Sony/BMG will eventually do an Essential Dionne Warwick collection here in the US, as they have done with other artists, and correct these flaws in their 2-CD set. In 2009, it will be 30 years since the beginning of the Arista Years, and this January 2006, there is a 45th Anniversary Celebration scheduled to celebrate Dionne's career. Therefore, I hope the fans do "get it all" down the road, inclusive of some guest appearances made on other CD albums of the period ("In Love Alone" from Richard Carpenter's post-Karen album, "TIME"in 1987; "Once A Time I Loved You" and the duet with Placido Domingo "Till I Loved You", from the Goya Sessions in 1991, etc).
Well worth it and reasonably priced, too!
I Have To Agree With Everybody Here.......2005-11-04
This is the best collection of Dionne's Arista/BMG work to date. It starts with her debut in 1979 and follows chronologically to 1993. Like everyone here had stated so far, nothing from her final Arista album, the Brazilian project, is here and there is plenty of room for a cut or two from that album on the third disc which is two songs shorter than the other two discs. Her 1990 Cole Porter effort is represented in this collection by just one track. "You'd Be So Nice To Come Home To" was a vinyl "bonus track" from the Porter project and it would have been nice to see it's digital debut here. Still, this collection contains every hit and choice album tracks from Dionne's BMG catalog and is the closest thing to a boxed set of her work.

a Happening collection.......2005-04-18
Evelyn "Champagne" King has a strong Voice&alot of these Jams still are Hitting. Her Range covered alot of territory. She hasn't gotten her due as a Artist to me. She was able to roll with the changes in music&still bring it Musically."Love come down" is still tight as is "Shame". the cool thing here is the full uncut versions which make it so cool.this is the best collection of Her Hits Material to date.
YES...All the hard to find Good songs.......2005-04-01
I am so happy this came out. All the hard to find Best song from all of her albums, something like 7 albums she did for RCA. What i like best is most songs are the Album versions. The edit songs you can find on any of her best of CD. Out of Control, to shame,, all the best songs are on this CD. She evan has songs from the Album that came on in 1980 "Call ME" and that was not her best album. This is worth every cent and more.
The very best ECK favorites album.......2005-03-30
I only heard of this album because I requested Amazon.com send me any word of new releases by Evelyn Champagne King. I am very frustated because the only time it pops onto the the Amazon.com website is when I reference it in a strict specific way. Otherwise it doesn't exist. It does not exist to the general public. I am writing this review partly to challenge this odd circumstance.
This is the album to get if you love Evelyn Chamnpagne King's music. It does not contain biographical notes or extended pictures, beyond what's on the covers of the three 3 CD's. Musically, however it has the more than you can ever expect, more than twice the songs as any of her other 'best of' albums, all the prior ones, plus three more of my personal favorites. These three, they probably were'nt 'hits' but I love them are "Don't It Feel Good", "Makin' Me So Proud" from the 'Face to Face' album and 'Make Up Your Mind', from her second album.
So if your old ECK albums are starting to wear out, buy this and record it into your computer for posterity.
There are a few of my favorites that are only in the old vinyl format, but I can't complain too much. This is a very broad sample. (okay. I will complain in a little way, it does not contain the one about 'God Almighty' in an early ablum or 'I'm Just Warming Up', or a couple of others, but it DOES have 42 songs).
I have one serious criticism. Only her RCA albums have been recorded into favorites albums, or reissued. She put out some beautiful songs under the EMI label. Some of these as good as her earlier music, such as her rendition of 'A Change is Gonna Come' and they are being lost. I will absolve RCA of blame, and put it all on EMI.

Customer Reviews:
One of the All time Greats.......2005-04-18
Sammy Davis JR truly was One of the Worlds Greatest all Around Artists to Emerge. this set hgihlights His takes on on 70's TV Themes&also Mr.Bojangles&Other Classics. his Voice is in cool form just as the Brother was.He truly was one of a Kind.
SAMMY SWINGS THE 70's!.......2002-07-22
Mister Entertainment, Mister Bojangles, The Candy Man, call him what you wish, but Sammy Davis Jr. was the epitome of cool, the consummate performer, no matter what the material. While fellow Rat Packers Frank and Dino were slowing down, Sammy saw the 70's and hit the ground running, singing everything he could. You'd think the break-neck pace would produce less than favorable results, case in point, the unlikely hit with this CD's opener, THE CANDY MAN. They literally had to rope Sammy to the chair in the studio to do it; but it became one of his all time greatest anthems. This CD is jammed with some of Sammy's lesser known sides, all of which are great. They go from the funky (BARRETA'S THEME, JOHN SHAFT, and the superfunkadelic GET IT ON)
to the groovy (more TV themes LOVE IS ALL AROUND, WE'LL MAKE IT THIS TIME (from Kojak), YOU CAN COUNT ON ME (Hawaii Five-o) and a homespun-folk art version of Jose Feliciano's CHICO AND THE MAN that is wonderful). Others still border on inspirational and let us in deeper to Sammy's world, like the San Remo Festival winner, THIS IS MY LIFE (a big hit for Shirley Bassey) and the touching TAKE MY HAND. The standouts here are the inspired message in I'M OVER 25 to the youth of the day (and it could still be said today), The grand take on the LEGRAND (as in Michel) song SWEET GINGERBREAD MAN that swings perfectly under Sammy's command, the poignant and dignified reading of the Bricusse/Newley song TOMORROW, a song culled from Sammy's THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT album (the only time Sammy and the immortal Nelson Riddle paired up) and a fine reading of the standard GET HAPPY, and finally, the final track, I'LL BEGIN AGAIN, flawlessly interpreted here by one of the greatest performers of all time. This is far from the "greatest hits" package(s) you'll find out there, but for another side of Sammy or complete-ists, this is a must have. Great import.

Soul Legends-Soul Legacy.......2007-06-28
This CD is a treasure because it includes Diana Ross and The Supremes best recordings on the pop charts and rare gems. For those who want the hits there are seven U.S. Top Ten Hits, as well as duets with label mates the Temptations and the Four Tops. You will also enjoy hearing Where Did Our Love Go in German (Baby,Baby, Woist Unsere Liebe), Mary Wilson's solo version of Can't Take My Eyes off Of You, from the Motown At The Hollwood Palace Album and The New Supremes-Mary, Cindy Birdsong and Jean Terrell's rare rendition of Never Can Say Good Bye. Long before Rod Stewart recorded his The Great American Songbook series and his duet,I Got A Crush On You, with Diana Ross, you can sample her versions of My Funny Valentine and Blue Moon with original Supremes Florence Ballard and Mary from their album Sing Rodgers & Hart. There are also great covers of pop songs, These Boots Are Made For Walking,Stormy and Come Together(TNS), which Diana also recorded as a solo artist and Bob Dylan's Blowing In The Wind. Upon listening this CD you will know why to date no other female vocal recording group has matched the legendary status of,Diana Ross and The Supremes. I am grateful for their recording legacy and hope you will be too.

Magnificent!.......2002-05-28
This cd is absolutely stunning providing great tracks and state of the art audio. Reach Out and Touch and Touch Me In The Morning never sounded better in stereo format. This cd exemplifies our lady of divadum with its reflectuous synthful harmonies. Also, number 1 hit tracks such as Theme From Mahogany (Do You Know?) and 1976's Love Hangover is digitalized with so much strength, you will want to move the furniture around, hang up some disco balls, invite all your friends over and let the disco times roll. Extraordinary!

Customer Reviews:
Great Collection.......2006-08-31
It's got everything I was looking for and more! And arrived in excellent condition.
Pure Rarity!.......2005-05-21
Usually when Carole King is mentioned, people think of 'I Feel The Earth Move' and 'Hard Rock Cafe', which are great songs, but they tend to forget her early days. Unless your a great fan, you won't think of 'It might As Well Rain Untill September'or 'Uh! Oh! It Started All Over Again'. Thats what I think makes this album so unique and a must have for all you King fans, and im not talkin' Elvis!
To get the true feeling of a developing Carole King, 'The Right Girl' is for you.
I have enjoyed many hours of listening to the songs of the early sixties by her, as much as I enjoy her in the seventies.
This CD is quite a unique collection, as many of the songs featured on it are becoming quite rare and hard to find, some of them not being released on a single, but now they're all here on one CD,
and I love it.
Oh Carole!
Before we knew her.......2003-02-18
Carole King had authored and done demos of some very familiar chestnuts and other humable tunes from the 60s. If you are a Carole King fan and want a unique experience, quite different from the solo albums, buy this set. I've never seen it elsewhere. Many of these tunes were never recorded commercially, the piano arrangements are extremely simple as to not detract from the tunes, and her voice had not picked up the rich gravelly intimacy that made you want to play Tapestry 1000 times. If you are expecting the Carole King of Tapestry and beyond you will be disappointed; if you are a fan and are curious about the days when that talent was still forming but had not found that unique voice, I think you'll like it.
THE RIGHT GIRL Indeed!.......2002-03-15
Here lies Carole the Pop King's TRUE tapestry.
Although these 57 slices of pure, three-minute Brill beauty are already nearing their half-decade mark, each and every single one remain, and still contain, the undeniable Sound of the Future in oh so many ways.
In fact, all you have to do is conjure the name of YOUR favorite song(writer) from the Sixties through today, and you'll no doubt easily uncover its Top 40 ancestry still shining loud and true somewhere upon these two jam-packed discs.
Indeed, the magic's in the melody -- always has been; always shall be -- and there's magic to spare, in all its monophonic, 45-RPM magnificence, throughout this wholly indispensable collection.
Oh, Carole!
(...and Gerry, Barry, Cynthia and Ellie too)
Hit songwriter's sketchbook.......2002-02-01
In concept, this disc (along with its companion volumes focusing on other Brill Building habitues) should be the Rosetta Stone of early-60s pop: a blueprint of demos for the hits that would shape the Brill Building legend. But what's actually here is a good deal more complex: a mix of early King solo work, demos for songs that were either never recorded commercially or never broke in the charts, and a smattering of demos for bona fide chart toppers. And though this isn't as immediately satisfying as a disc full of hit demos, a spin through these 57 tracks provides tremendous illumination of just how Goffin & King came to their success.
What's really evidenced here is the sheer hard work that went into creating the Brill Building's success. The unfiltered depiction of Goffin & King's songwriting yields uncommercialized songs and non-hits that range from very good to merely competent to surprisingly bad. Without the editing of publishers, producers, artists, managers, song pluggers and DJs, Goffin & King's output shows itself to include an equal (if not greater) number of flops than finds.
Perhaps this mixed songwriting success shouldn't be surprising, but given the rose-colored memory of oldies radio, it's easy to forget that such stellar talents could turn out such banalities as "Boomerang" (the slide whistle would be bad enough if it didn't accompany a chorus like, "Like a boom-boom-boom-boom-boomerang, I keep boomerangin' back to you."). On the other hand, one has to wonder why "I Didn't Have Any Summer Romance" didn't get into the hands of Annette Funicello, and why Connie Francis never sang "Queen of the Beach" or "Goin' Wild."
Several tunes, like "There Goes My Lover," are just a notch less stellar than the Goffin & King hits, and getting a feel for that narrow gap between success and also-ran is a good part of what this set allows. Also included are better known early King solo sides like "Right Girl," "Oh Neil" (her answer to Neil Sedaka's "Oh Carole"), "He's a Bad Boy," and "It Might as Well Rain Until September."
King's post-Everly's recording of "Crying in the Rain" is moving for its more fallible harmonies, as is her take of Neil Sedaka's "Breaking Up is Hard To Do." Her demo of Bobby Vee's "Take Good Care of My Baby" makes for an ironic twist, given the lyric's longing for "her." The demo of the answer song ("He Takes Good Care of Your Baby"), eventually released by Dora Dee & Lora Lee, is a nice complement. 1966's, "A Road to Nowhere," has a sophistication not heard elsewhere on this collection, and clearly points towards King's solo career.
Others singing on this collection include Gerry Goffin, Bernie Knee, and the girl-groups, The Honey Bees and The Palisades. Even stranger, the last three tracks feature co-Brill Building songsmith Barry Mann singing songs that seem to have nothing whatsoever to do with King.
Throughout, the tape quality is very high, with performances that range from simple piano or guitar accompaniment to full arrangements. Though this isn't the treasure chest of demos that make up Goffin & King's popularly known ouvre, what's here is an amazing peek inside the creative process of the Brill Building.
