Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars For Collectors: ***** / For Casual Fans **.......2006-11-24

The packaging is exquisite, including the attractive framing of the songlist, but "Collectors" and "Casual Fans" beware: "Blue Moon", "Young Love", "Oh, Happy Day", probably the titles mostly likely to entice buyers are small fragments, not even long enough to be considered parts of a medley. The longtime Collector will get some enjoyment from "Blue Moon"; "Oh, Happy Day" doesn't sound like much more than the song title itself. It looks great in print, but for the uninitied it could be a serious disappointment.
Another title "I Found That Light" is not the "new" song buyers who are not familiar with Gospel music might expect. It's actually a medley element - "Up Above My Head" apparently should have been listed as "Up Above My Head"/"I Found That Light" on the original release. Having said that, it's still a stirring number.
Previously unreleased "Dressing Room" performances of "I Got A Woman" and "When It Rains, It Really Pours" are two of the most exciting things Elvis ever cut - and these tunes were for *personal reference*! For the serious fan/collector, these two tracks are worth the price of the whole CD.
Add "Memories" to that. It's an "alternate vocal" to the familiar music bed. The shoulda-been-number-one-Pop Valentine should be included in any future Presley collection where his "art" is the theme. It's quite an experience for a fan who values a tune over time, to be moved *again* by the same song (with a different "feel").
The CD title tune is another amazing alternate of the E.P. semi-hit from '68; the backing isn't as tight but the lead vocal is even stronger than on the TV Special remake. The famous B-side, "It Hurts Me", another shoulda-been, is at least as good as the original from the show (originally not included in the first two telecasts).
Most of the rest have their "moments" - the tracks are for those who just love to listen to Elvis. Example: an outtake of "Trouble" will leave you "Breathless"! JLL might agree!!

Album Description

Quality music at a great price, this collection features 20 tracks including 'How Deep Is The Ocean', 'No Strings', 'Puttin' On The Ritz' & 'Heatwave'. The Swingles have, unusually, incorporated electric keyboards, horns and drums into their usually acappella approach, resulting in some thoroughly modern interpretations of Berlin's classics. Castle Pulse. 2003.

2 out of 5 stars Doesn't work for me........2006-05-04

I LOVE the Swingle Singers. The first time I heard them sing Bach back in the 60's I was driving a car and I was so blown away that I had to pull off the road. And I LOVE Irving Berlin's music; his message is simple and direct and tuneful. And therein lies the rub. To me, the jazz vocal styles, the contemporary harmonies and the whimsical utterances of the Swingle Singers go together with Irving Berlin's music like oil and water; they just don't mix. The words and melodies are those of Irving Berlin but the end result isn't Irving Berlin. Admittedly this is one man's opinion, and others might take great pleasure in the Swingle Singers' unfailing virtuosity and inventiveness. But if you anticipate the straighforward tunes and emotional directness in Berlin's music, you are apt to be disappointed.

      Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars not feeling it with this one.......2006-03-06

This is one of 3 doors down's lesser songs by far. I hate the melody and the chorus gets old in the blink of an eye. Regrettably this hit is nothing like the rock of Kryptonite or When I'm Gone, and did not deserve its success on the hit list. Don't get the single.

5 out of 5 stars 3 Doors Down: The Songs that made the band.......2005-07-05

I normally opt for full blown CD's when I shop for music but having listened to all of 3 Doors Down I came across this CD-single CD and totally enjoyed the song 'Let Me Go' from the newest album 'Seventeen Days' and the older 'Kryptonite' which is performed live at one of their concerts in the States. There are 4 tracks and the first two are from the newer album. Track 2 is the acoustic version of 'Be Somebody' another nice song, even acoustically these type of songs don't lose their power and purpose. Track 4 is also the Live version of 'That Smell' that is a original Lynard-Skynard song. This band has alot of talent and the young men show a compunction to be around for some time to come in the alt rock scene.

      4 out of 5 stars Don't Let Go.......2005-04-22

There has been no wonder about the fact that 3 Doors Down has come a long way since the smash hit Kryptonite. Yet, they have grown up into a well-recognized Rock group that appeals to everyone, with a great sense of music. Their latest single is just no acception to that feeling. Let Me Go, the lead single from their 2005 album Seventeen Days, is a really driven song that hows a lot of meaning for what it is worth. I was very impressed, especially since there really hasn't been a lot of rock from anybody in the U.S. that stood out recently, besides U2. Nevertheless, that hasn't stopped 3 Doors Down, or such great music to come alive. This is one of the best Rock songs on radio right now, and surely sounds driven, enough to know who 3 Doors Down are.

      Song: B

      5 out of 5 stars AWESOME!.......2005-02-25

I bought the single "Let Me Go" off of iTunes after i saw the music video. It simply one of 3DD's best songs ever. better than here without you and kryptonite even. I still thinking about the actually cd, Seventeen days. if you love 3 doors down you'll love this
