Editorial Reviews
Product Description
Even though VISIBLE WIND is less famous than SPOCK'S BEARD or THE FLOWER KINGS, it's still an undeniable success of Nineties Progressive rock. This quartet deserves at least as much attention as the two above mentioned references, something of a success ! Singer Steffen GEYSENS multiplies keyboards interventions that alternate with vocal parts both in French and in English. The Moog solos as well as the Seventies sounds evoke GENESIS (Mainly), YES (Luc ROY's Rickenbacker bass has a very peculiar sound), CAMEL (The lyrical flute) or even KING CRIMSON (Claude RAINVILLE's melodic guitar can be heavily tortured, while we have a serious contender to John WETTON at the vocals...). Drummer Luc HEBERT effortlessly astonishes the listener thanks to a truly unique style, full of subtleties and invention. In 1988, "Catharsis" was the first and yet very good album of their discography, before two excellent CDs were released ("A Moment Beyond Time" in 1991 & "Emergence" in 1! 994), even though they still showed a style that wasn't very defined yet. Then "Narcissus Goes To The Moon" came from nowhere, with a very different production to all that had been done before, and that made its content immediately identifiable. Anyway, this epic work of more than 70 minutes flaws effortlessly, and succeeds in not making the listener bored before the end. Here is then one of the essential albums of 1996, if not of the decade...

4 out of 5 stars Interesting Canadian Prog Band.......2005-06-19

This is a great CD and certainly progressive. Some idiots (pebozo aka pedroza, daniel) bash any new groups claiming that they steal the old guard's sound. I challenge this fool and others like him to listen to this band. Visible Wind certainly pays homage to the masters Yes, Genesis but they also forge a contemporary sound. The Awakening is a wonderful long composition. Bass player Roy and keyboardist Geysens shine on this terrific release. I would recommend their entire catalouge- really a great progressive band. Barb-a-baal-a loo is their best but all are interesting. If you can't find them here at Amazon check Kinesis website.

    Album Description

Progressive quartet from Quebec which music alternates instrumental and vocal parts. The instrumental tracks are based on a magnificent dialogue between keyboards ( which sounds very much like early Genesis) and guitar. Vocal parts are sometimes in French. This group features a singer with a Wetton-like voice. The four-piece band offers an elaborated, contrasted, climatic energetic, feverish progressive music. They are fond of instrumental combinations and sophisticated arrangements. They can evoke King Crimson, ELP, CAMEL,YES by their melodies mixing virtuosity with a sharp guitarist and a keyboardist using the mellotron and the Hammond organ. "With "Narcissus", Visible Wind develops a polished, elaborated music" which melts virtuosity and melodical impact, and evokes Genesis, Yes, Camel, Pink Floyd.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent music and cleverly written........2002-07-10

Here is another great album by an obscure French-Canadian band. Not really heard of in the Prog world, Visible Wind are a group of talented musicians as can be heard on this album. The music is unlike any other I have heard, and has a great blend of light and dark and heavy and light moments. The track 'The Awakening' is a highlight with about 21 minutes of sheer listening pleasure.
I cannot link the sound with any other Prog band I listen to, but this one is up among my favorites. This album is highly recommended for someone that is looking for that different Progressive sound. The musicians: Stef Geysens (Keyboards, vocals), Luc Herbert (Drums), Louis Roy (Bass) and Denis Champoux (Guitar). All are very skilled and talented at their instruments. A previous album of theirs I can recommend is "Emergence" (1994). This is another album of excellent quality. It is a shame Amazon.com do not stock Visible Winds' catalogue. ...
