Best Album Ever.......2006-04-16

The last reviewer was wrong - this is the perfect album for someone who knows nothing about The Neckbones... There's nothing wrong with their 2nd and final album "The Lights Are Getting Ding", but it is slicker than their debut here... y'know?

Can I get an Amen!.......2001-11-27

The Neckbones came to town while I was in college in Athens, Ohio. I walked away from their show knowing what it must have been like to actually see the Stooges in a little dirty bar. They drank, threw beer, and caused at least two fights - one which involved the bassist jumping off the stage mid-song to pummel this little punk kid. But most importantly, they played sloppy, memorable, brilliant punk/blues tunes. This band should be legendary, but seem to get very little, or no promotion. Fat Possum Records seems to sink all of their resources into RL Burnside - and don't get me wrong, Burnside is great - but they need to promote some of their other immensly talented acts, most notably the Neckbones. Everyone is proclaiming lately that the Strokes have saved Rock and Roll - The Neckbones already did it but no one was listening. And if you pitted the two against one another in a steel cage death match, the Neckbones would kick the hell out of the Strokes.

Great garage-punk/trash/whatever, but..........1999-12-01

well, it's not as superb as "The Lights Are Getting Dim," but it's still pretty excellent. There's a little filler, but "Dead End Kids," "Souls On Fire," "Hit Me," and "Crack Whore Blues" make this CD a worthy buy if you like their latest. Still, I wouldn't make this a starting point for getting to know the Neckbones.

Keeping it simple.......2004-08-09

Keeping it simple pays off as Lloyd Banks scores a mega-hit with "On Fire". The song has a trademark G-Unit beat, and Banks' simple, but effective delivery makes "On Fire" a catchy mainstream rap hit. Eminem was obviously at hand when writing this song, because Banks' monotone low-key delivery sounds a lot like Eminem's, and the catchy hook is so simple, it'll have you singing along in no time, but it sounds just a tad clichéd. This is a well-done mainstream rap hit, but the song loses marks for having a very uninspired and generic video. This single itself is good value, giving you the hit "On Fire", as well as "Smile" and "Warrior", two more solid tracks, and the videos for "On Fire" and "Smile". This one is recommended to any fans of G-Unit of 50 Cent's previous work, but if you dislike 50 Cent or G-Unit, you wouldn't like Lloyd Banks either.

Annihilator at its best..........2004-09-01

This is Annihilator's best album or, at least, my persoanl favorite. This band is really versatile, showing different styles and climates. From the total aggression changes to the most beautiful melodies. Fast songs, semi-ballads, hard rock, you`ll find all that here. Sometimes they sound like Overkill, sometimes Europe, sometimes like any Hard Rock band with the greatest sense of humour. These guys show here that they are not only performers, thay are complete musicians. My favorites are "Set the world on fire"(a classic), "Brain Dance" and "Snake in the grass". No matter which music style you listen to, you should get this CD and listen to a great band.

PD: Check out a great version of Judas Priest's "Hell Bent for Leather".

A Whole new side of Train comes out on She's ON Fire.. It's a great up beat rockin' summer song.. So, if you liked DOJ, you might like She's On Fire.. It's totally different, and better in my opinon!
