"Lounge" is a term often over-used in compilations these days. Some people wil slap that label on anything with a beat (that's not hard trance) or anything remotely soft (New Age/meditative or World music is NOT necessarily 'lounge' or 'chill.')

But in the case of this collection - they actually have labeled and named it correctly!

As for the "Erotic" portion, these CD's will definitely help with the right person(s) in the room ... just like listening to Barry White by yourself - in a blizzard - inside a Greyhound bus station in Fairbank, Alaska may not help you much, these CD's deliver on the promise of great 'lounge' music - the rest is up to you :-)

There are four in the series so far. They are all excellent with only a few tracks not up to par on each set so you can't really go wrong but there are differences.

EROTIC LOUNGE: The first is the softest of them all with lots of minimalist lounge. A perfect CD to end your evening or the first CD in the morning.

EROTIC LOUNGE - DELUXE EDITION: It's exactly what a 'lounge' CD should be - full of chill beats backed by light jazz beats or bossa nova-like beats. If anyone wants to know what 'lounge' should sound like - this CD pretty much encapsulates what it should be.

EROTIC LOUNGE - SENSUAL PASSION: Along with great 'lounge' tracks, they pick up a beat a bit with tracks that go into trance chill or trip hop - again, all tasteful, fun and aptly cool. On the slightly exotica tracks, they veer from bossa nova to light samba.

EROTIC LOUNGE - BARE JEWELS: This is the least lounge of the collection with most tracks really more trip hop, light trance or melodic acid jazz - nothing wrong with - still a great collection of tracks - just so you know exactly what you're getting.

So whatever the mood you want to set - from 'lounge' where you can easily converse over the instrumental tracks to tracks that will get you in the mood for a fun samba or tracks to lead to you to the bedroom - they're all here. Pick and choose or get them all - you can't go wrong with this series, so far, they're all great.

And hey, the CD cover alone is worth a star :-)

I purchased this CD while on vacation in Europe and was blown away. It made every hotel my wife and I stayed in very enjoyable. It is a great CD to listen to from foreplay to finish. It is also a great CD just to throw on and enjoy while inebriated. It also has some great pictures on the inside booklet. I will be purhasing the other CD's in "the art of loungin'" set as well.

This CD, with Its Artwork Based on the Projected Passion Revue Programme is a Fitting Tribute to One of the Most Singular Bands of all Time.     Plácido Domingo has two passions: music and soccer. He has attended every World Cup final since 1990; this CD features several of the songs and arias he has performed at these events, including the premier recording of a song composed for him by his son, Plácido Domingo Jr., especially for the 2006 games in Germany. Entitled "Willkommen bei Uns," it opens the program in a short version and closes it in a long, multilingual one. (The booklet credits Samantha Domingo as lyricist without specifying her status in the family.) The rest of Moments of Passion is a compilation of Domingo's greatest hits, drawn from his enormous discography and bearing witness to his incredible vocal, stylistic, and emotional range. The disc presents arias from his signature roles in operas by Puccini, Leoncavallo, Flotow, and Verdi, including a scene from La Traviata where he is joined by several winners of his competition Operalia. There are also arias by Mozart and Handel and songs with Hollywood-style orchestral arrangements by Lee Holdridge: Lara's "Granada," Lecuona's "Andalucía," and two by John Denver, who contributes vocals in one, while Maureen McGovern acts as partner in the other. Baritone Sherrill Milnes, bass Paul Plishka, and the radiant-voiced soprano Montserrat Caballé take small roles in the operatic excerpts. The result is a linguistic and stylistic smorgasbord, but Domingo's vocal grandeur and powerful personality make it work. Though the dates of the original recordings are not mentioned, they obviously cover many years: Domingo's voice changes perceptibly from bright to dark, light to heavy, but its intensity, variability, and expressiveness never falter.     The Great Tenor's Life Motto is "a Rolling Stone Gathers No Moss", for He Has One of the Longest and Most Varied Singing Carriers Ever. His Life is Determined by Music, but Placido Domingo is also a Great Admirer of Top Sports, from Formula One Racing to Badminton to Basketball. But his Biggest Passion (Apart from Music) is Undoubtedly Football. Domingo is a Professed Fan of the Real Madrid Football Club (Whose Hymn He Recorded) and Obviously the Native Spaniard is also a Big Fanatic of the Spanish National Team. That Passion for Sport Motivated Domingo's Choices for this Project, with Moving Arias, Songs and Hymns Filled with Great Emotions. Most of These Arias and Songs have a Close Relationship with Sporting Events for the Tenor: 'nessun Dorma" was Sung by Domingo at the First Legendary Concert of the Three Tenors Before the World Cup Final in Rome, "Granada" was Sung at the Three Tenors Concert in Los Angeles and "e Lucevan Le Stelle" in Paris.

    I'm not giving this 5 stars because it is more recycled performances of arias which are fine but not the best performances of the recordings available. I didn't care for Placi's composition for World Cup anymore than I'm nuts about any of Placi's other compositions for his father. It's ok but just not a great recording. After collecting hundreds of his recordings, there are better compiliations available with better performances. However, if you want to have a smattering of Domingo arias, this is ok but try a few of the earlier versions for a better variety as well as better performances of each of the arias on this disc. I guess the biggest problem is a lack of new recordings of arias from Placido now that his voice is, perhaps the lowest and the richest in his career. I am amazed that he can still manage the high notes as well as ever on a good day when he isn't tired but the natural baritone richness in the voice is a very pleasant sound and I'd like to see a new recording of the old favorites for which he is known. The mature Domingo is as good as the Domingo we are used to hearing. This disc is a very superficial overview of his career.
