4 out of 5 stars First rate release takes you back to where they left off.......2001-11-23

I was skeptical when I heard that they were coming back. I had been searching endlessly for the old 70's releases on CD. My vinyl was worn out! This release doesn't disappoint. They are the heardest working band in the midwest. Even with all new musicians save for Perry Jordan, they really kick! See them Live if you can. They won't disappoint.

5 out of 5 stars Heartsfield Returns With Country Rock Dynamite!.......2001-06-25

Heartsfield's first new material since 1975 was worth the wait. Their new CD, Rescue The Dog, contains 8 brand new tunes as well as remakes of the classic Music Eyes and Just That Wind. From both the standpoint of great writing and sensational performances, this is the strongest release by the band to date. Continuing in the Heartsfield tradition, this CD features the brilliant five part vocal harmonies and blazing guitar work that originally gave the band a cult following in the seventies. While many bands have returned after long absences to produce an album of acceptable new material, few have done what this band has accomplished- release a CD that is stronger than any that they released in the past.

Especially strong are the songs Temptation, Can't You See, Forever Has An End, Can't Have It All, and Change My Tune. Songwriter Perry Jordan sets the tone for the CD with his rhythm guitar and lead vocals. A solid foundation is laid down by Steve Eddington (bass/vocals) and Scott Bonshire (drums). Layers of guiter work are added by Tim Johnson (guitar/mandolin/harmonica/vocals), John Brightwell (guitar/banjo/vocals), and Dave Nelson (guitar/slide guitar/dobro/vocals).

In addition to producing a great new CD, the band has been performing some of the best live sets that this reviewer has seen. If they're in your area, you can't go wrong with a trip to see this band.
