    AL ESTRADA is another excellent guitarist that has found a home on the GROOVEYARD label. Most GROOVEYARD releases in my collection ( about 40 ) are a fabulous journey of discovery for guitar nuts. While most of the artists on the GROOVEYARD are not well known, this label offers some of the best new guitar musik out there. If you want to hear the future of the guitar, check out their catalogue.
    AL ESTRADA offers a lot of different vibes and has the virtuosity to make them his own. Great player / great compositions and ESTRADA plays all instruments ( except bass on 2 tracks ). A great emerging talent.
    If you are a fan of SATRIANI's / VINNIE MOORE's or STEVE MORSE, this should put smile on your face.

    It is obvious that Al is a very confident player. The music on this disc is fun to listen to. Although the cd is primarily rock, Al does incorporate other styles such as blues and latin.
    Al has a very bright tone, with a ton of screaming. The result, air guitar heaven. "I Am War" is a rocking opener. "Radiation Man" is my favorite track on this one. Other awesome tunes include "The Scorpion", "Full Moon", "Blue", and "Sin in My Hand". These are some of my favorites, however every song is awesome and the production is excellent. If you love guitar in the vein of George Lynch meets Satch meets Paul Gilbert... Al Estrada's Riffage is sure to please! 10 stars!!!

    I first heard of Al Estrada when I was on the Suhr guitars website, clicked on their OD-100 amp page and saw there were a few demo videos for it. Lo and behold it was Al Estrada demonstrating it, and wow, he could play. So i took a chance on ordering his cd, and I'm glad i did.

    I wont go through the cd track by track, but will say he demonstrates several styles throught it. He has all the little tricks Joe Satriani uses down pat, and indeed the first few songs have a very Satriani-like feel to them.
    The Next few are a bit more Vinnie Moore'ish, as Estrada's picking technique is a bit cleaner and faster than Joe Satriani.
    Track 8, The Scorpion, the opening rythym part sounds very Michael Schenker-like, track 10 a bit more bluesey rock feel with wah-wah, and Estrada even throws in a little flamenco on track 13 and 14.
    The rest of the cd is very good also, showcasing Al Estrada's considerable skills as a guitarist and songwriter.

    I would rate "Riffage" more like 4.5 stars, and heavily recommend it to fans of Joe Satriani, Gary Hoey, Vinnie Moore, Steve Morse (no, he doesnt sound like Morse though), Tony MacAlpine, any guitar instrumentalist really (no singing on "Riffage", its all instrumental). The production/mix is also very good, no budget-sounding cd here.

    ..and listen to this revalation!

    I bought this CD after hearing 'Turn Off The Lights' which is perhaps one of the sexiest songs I've heard in a long time.
    However, when I listened to the whole CD I was surprised that it had a perfect blend of ethnic and modern music styling.
    Emok had collaborated with the talented Raquy Danziger of NY to add a taste of traditional Middle Eastern music to their progressive Isreali rock.

    Personally, as a fan of punk/metal/goth music and also as a musician specialising in world musical styles, I found this CD to be impressive and inspiring.
    The drums kick arse, the guitars are powerful, and the vocals are raw but in a good way.
    If you want new and refreshing hardcore rock, you'll find it here.
    If you appreciate a middle-eastern aesthetic, you won't be disapointed.
    All in all, I highly reccomend this to anybody wishing for something amazing and new, but still relatable, to add to their collection.

    If you looking for something fun, catchy, heavy and important.............you need to pick this up. I read about them in Revolver sometime ago. I must say SOAD was mentioned in the review....and although they might sound like SOAD at first they certainly blossom into some other variation of great music. They are a three piece band hailing from Israel from which they escaped mandatory military enlistment. Very raw at times and very off the wall at times these guys speak there mind without fear. Are they the next great thing...........I think so!

      Great record. To me they sound like Scared of Chaka jacked up on crack singing mainly about girls not in the whining love sappy way but mostly the one night stand wanna get with a girl and then leave immediately way. Two of the songs are also bilingual so it makes for a unigue sound. All the while this noise sounds like its coming out of an A.M radio. The songs are very short and it all goes by in 24 minutes or so. This is somewhat of a good thing and a bad thing. There are a lot of good bands coming out of Tuscon such as Shark Pants, the Blacks, and of course Swing Ding Amigos. I recommend this record to anyone who is into fast energetic songs with a lil bit of an experimental sound. After you purchase this record be sure to get their new one on Recess Records "Kings of Culo."
