    The first of an eight-volume series of rare demo tracks, home recordings, and studio-work tapes, this collection is made up of bare-bones acoustic sketches recorded at home on a two-track tape deck in 1972 at what Bolan charmingly called Toadstool Studios. An intimate peek into the prolific Bolan's workshop, it boasts the Lennon-esque "Did You Ever," the electric-guitar wah-wah freakout "Jam," the gritty "Shadow Babe," and the bubbling '50s rock of "Alligator Man," a cousin to the popular "Jeepster" from Electric Warrior. While the recordings are raw and unadorned, they're thrilling for Bolan fans; most of these tracks have previously been available only on bootlegs. Here, and elsewhere in the series, they're smartly mastered and sequenced, historically annotated, and creatively packaged. --James Rotondi

    This collection of demo tapes recorded in the Spare room of Bolan's London flat is an absolute must have for fans of the Electric Warrior period Bolan.Not only was Bolan prolific in those days , he was great.Some of these tunes are a lot better than those on the Slider or Tanx.
    Marc is captured here when Eddie Cochran was still an influence and before he decided that he wanted to be a soul singer, and he sounds fabulous, the sense of enjoyment here is wonderful.He was an artist and in 1972 he was on fire.

    Just saw Paul Hayes live in Pensacola,Florida two weeks ago.Awesome show.Bought the cd on the strength of his accoustic show.Most of the songs on the album are much more rockin than the live versions.Hes kind of depressing and hilarious at the same time.This album has been in my headphones for two weeks and theres maybe two lame songs on it but I cant stop singing the other stuff.
