Customer Reviews:
Enter Another Dimension.......2007-03-15
There are countless Metallica tribute albums available and several orchestral interpretations of their music, but this is the one to Kill them all! The most incredible thing about this album is the way The Scorched Earth Orchestra manages to extract new colours and go deeper into these classic Metallica songs, all while keeping the dark and brooding nature of the original. It's like looking behind the curtain to find an undiscovered universe. Metallica fans will really appreciate the fresh journey they are taken on with their favourite songs. The sense of epicness, granduer and sinister-goings-on are all heightened. The standout out tracks are "Disposable Heroes" and "Orion". These are also the longest tracks on the original album and give the Orchestra room to really show what they're capable of. The solos in Orion are beautifully re-created. This album grows on you and is a must have for any true Metallica fan.

Bevis Frond under a psuedonym with help from the Alchemysts and the Lucky Bishops. A "heavy metal" record in the vein of the early 70's style.
Customer Reviews:
BLASTIN' Electric City!.......2007-07-02
Better make sure to check your pulse before and after when you put this in the stereo, through the time it finishes.
'Fed To Your Head' spoonfeeds you a 11 track dosage of sweet ELECTRIC mind-blowing guitar freakouts!
This here, is a side project from Bevis Frond's Master-mind -Nick Soloman who goes by Chuck "The Horse" Kowalski on this. Also features Paul Simmons(lead from The Alchemysts) a.k.a. Randy "The Snake" Kyser.
Fun, psychadelic blues Rock to sizzle your Brain to, jacked up a few notches to Feed your head with a Killer sound!
First listening to the Bevis Frond earlier this year opened the doors to a whole new type of Music and another Master of psychadelic guitar, ala Jimi Hendrix that I was previously unaware of.
So MANY heavy rockers on this, it's really hard to choose a # 1 Highlight or standout track for me-
I do really enjoy "Busted" (Oh MAN, those SOUNDS!)- "Blues For The Universe" and the Epic beauty of "Long Black Gown" -the longest song on 'Fed To Your Head'.
The tune "Blown Away" sounds like a spell-binding classic Rock song that's been updated and Revved up for a more modern day sound.
Pure Rock Entertainment and one of the best from Nick Soloman. I say also check out 'Hit Squad' -Bevis Frond's 2004 release.
SCORCHED - Symbolic of something hot, fried, burned by some incredible heat ..........2006-12-01
(definition - inner cover) Just plain old SMOKIN'in the vernacular! Warm up the old guitar hands (playing) over this smoldering rock, put aside 54 minutes for some intense excercise and kick around the space dust while you're floating around.
Nick Saloman and friends are incognito (with some silly made-up personages) playing out their favorite Spinal Tap (early 70's) acid-rock, Hendrix-fixated fantasies to a great atmospheric, but EARTHY old-school space. This is just about up there with some of the better Bevis Frond albums in overall fun and musical quality surprisingly, especially the first and last few songs (I have had it for quite a while and it has become one of my favorites - but that group is large, it's like saying Band of Gypsies is up there with Axis: Bold as Love). The other reviewer says alot of what I would say, THIS ROCKS, JUST GET IT since it seems to be selling pretty cheap at the moment. Chase away the wintertime, low-energy blahs with a little blistered-finger HEAT ... enjoy after a monster cup of coffee and maybe a Zappa muffin (for some perspective) have been fed to your head first! Between 4 and 5 hard-baked gold nuggets, erring on the side of 4 for now ... I still need to dig a little deeper (cool image on the disk and cover).
EARTH: The planet on which we live, an amazing kaleidescope canvas of fantastic places, people and endless new experiences (definition - inner cover).
The One That Almost Got Away!.......2002-05-17
Wow! If you didn't read the fine print on the Rubric Records website, you would probably not have discovered that this is really the Bevis frond and friends under an assumed name...and that would be too bad for you, because this is a killer! The music on here is more in a heavy blues-rock vein than is usual for the Frond. Imagine Quicksilver Messenger Service meets Nebula. Stoner rock from the 90's going back in time and recording in Haight-Ashbury! Aside from the acoustic flavored opener and closer ("Dust" parts I & II), this is pretty much music to fry your mind and rattle your brain. "Electric City", "Busted", and "Blown Away" have all the power and crunch that the current crop of Stoner-rock bands wish they had. "Long Black Gown" is a nearly 15 minute epic that conjures up images of late 60's/early 70's era Pink Floyd. This song could easily fit in between "Set the Controls For The Heart Of The Sun", and say "Careful With that Axe Eugene". All in all a truly minor gem by Nick Saloman and crew. Snap this up before it goes the way of the Fred Bison Five, and other Bevis Frond side-projects!

Homesick.......2004-03-06
Perfect
I found this CD in chicago, where this brit now lives, and the tunes and themes are such a retrieval cue for sunday afternoons watching these old stiff upper lip black and white movies on tv. Just what I needed, although the addition of 4 weddings is slightly odd. Good quality recordings...:-)

Customer Reviews:
great tribute album to a great band.......2007-05-19
I think the orchestra does an excellent job of making the Cradle of Filth songs their own while retaining the creepy touch the band puts itself on the music. You can recognize the songs easily when you hear them but they still make you wonder because the sound has those little differences.
Personal favorites are Hurt and Virtue, Dusk and her Embrace, and Thank God for the Suffering.
Only complaint about the album is the two minutes of silence or so after the last track and the fact the opener wasn't the full song... only under a minute.
But if you like COF and orchestra music then give this is shot... and if you want to get your metal hating parents or friends into the band well this is the way to do it.
puke.......2007-02-21
i love Cradle of Filth, as a matter of fact i just got back from Tournography in Anaheim last night, but this is more like a sonic slap in the face than anything else. there are a few impressive piano manouvers but other than that every song sounded VERY incomplete. each track left me dying for the end of the CD much less dying for more. i did listen to about 75% of it despite how much i hate it hoping that atleast one track would be done well but it never came. Her Ghost in the Fog is a song that if you must re-do, you ABSOLUTELY have to do it VERY WELL. All they did for that song was the keyboard intro, and despite the fact that they did the intro very well, it was an immaculate letdown that a) they didn't finish the song and b) every song thereafter was equally incomplete.
i think i might take a video of this record burning and put it on U-tube or something.
Absolute Genius.......2006-10-04
This record is a sonic experience that holds the listeners attention from beginning to end.
These orchestral renditions of Cradle of Filth songs are both emotionally powerful and gorgously dynamic.
At times the arrangements are extremely complex, and yet can morph into delicate subtle sections of pure musical ecstacy. The composer stays true to the gothic overtones of Cradle's vibe employing church organs and harpsichords, which enhance the classic orchestral instruments quite well.
If you are a lover of cool, interesting music or a Cradle fan, this record will blow your mind.
The Orchestra Tribute.......2006-10-01
If you like soundtracks from Final Fantasy, Xenosaga, etc. You'll like this!!

good mix of music.......2005-07-05
good range of different styles of music. This cd contains some good electro filled housey-jazz laid back grooves. perfect for chilling out in the afternoon or relaxing while sipping your favorite beverage. Lots of variety makes this cd a great listen even after multiple hearings.
Different.......2004-11-03
For all of you that love the traditional sound of Bukem(Progression Session series)will find that this does not sound anything like him. This can be a good thing. Though having only heard of Earth 1 and now Earth 7, I find this jazzy/chill out music very nice and I think its good that he adds mixture to his music other then the (Progression Session series). This is why I thought it deserved 5 stars. Buy it and give it a try. You might be pleasantly suprised.
This continues the trend..........2004-10-28
First thing LTJ Bukem fans need to remember is that this comp is not really a part of the traditional DnB sound of Bukem... there's been a trend with this series to get jazzier and jazzier. I'd say this CD almost completes that move with a mixture of jazz, ambience and a few lightweight house beats. I will admit that the 5.1 disc sounds awesome and definitely adds value to this release.
However, if you're expecting "Promised Land"... you're in for a disappointment. Despite my own misconceptions, there certainly are some creative highlights... especially "Unconditional Love"... amongst some occasional bits of monotony.
