About the Artist
Formed in 2000 in Louisville, Kentucky, Seluah is the heartfelt project of four talented musicians who have played in Rachels and Boom-Bip. In 2002, Seluah released their self-titled debut CD, available in stores and through Touch and Go Records distibution. It contains a sampling of the music that has earned enthusiastic reviews and won fans in numerous cities. Seluah has embraced a tasteful mix of ethereal vocals, swirling synths, atmospheric guitars, dub-style bass, and trip-hop drumming to make music that is both beautiful and accessible; Ambient yet substantial. I saw these guys live in Murfreesboro, TN back in 2001 (I think) when I was in school there, and they blew me away. This album is full of atmospheric sounds and moods. Each song has its own groove. It is a great album for listening to while driving at night, because it is very laid back and mellow. Definitely mood music, but it's something I can just pop in and listen to any time. The songs are slow, but there is enough going on to keep you interested. Hopefully they will release a new album soon, but until then I highly recommend this one. If you like Portishead, you will like this.
