Product Description
NEH Records brings you another great Melodic Rock European import. "Slaves Of The New World" is the second studio-album by this US Hard-Rock-Band. Their debut-album "Metallic Blue" was welcomed overwhelmingly by the Rock-Press and fans around the world. Just like the previous album, this one will also be released in Japan by the label AVEX. "Slaves Of The New World" was produced by MIKE SLAMER, who is well known to many rock fans as a former member of groups like CITY BOY and STREETS. In the past he produced WARRANT, HOUSE OF LORDS, JAMES CHRISTIAN, PAUL SHORTINO, HARD LINE and TOWER CITY. KEITH SLACK seems to have found a vocal mixture that places him somewhere between DAVID COVERDALE and STEVE WALSH. He will be joining THE MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP for their upcoming 1999 tour of the US, Japan, and Europe. Most of the songs on this new record were written by MIKE SLAMER and his longtime friend CHRIS THOMPSON (singer with MANFRED MAN). A big highlight on this new release is the brilliant conversion of the STREETS classic hit "The Nightmare Begins".

This latest compilation release from Deutsche Grammophon, hot on the heels of The Yellow Guide to Opera, consists of not only three CDs, but also a 144-page booklet that provides biographies of 100 composers, a glossary explaining 100 musical terms, and notes on each of the 42 tracks on the discs. Aimed, clearly, at newcomers to classical music, the three discs cover almost five centuries of music, arranged chronologically from the Kyrie of Palestrina's Missa Papae Marcelli to Philip Glass's Violin Concerto. Orchestral, chamber, and vocal are all represented, performed by a roster of celebrated names: the Amadeus Quartet, Martha Argerich, the Vienna Philharmonic, and Herbert von Karajan, to name but a few. All in all, a value-for-your-money way to either become more familiar with classical music or glimpse some of the treasures of the DG archive. --Rebecca AgnewCustomer Reviews:

Underground melodic masterpiece!!.......2002-10-18
This album is an excellent melodic rock release. It is excellently produced, and each song has a notable hook, melody and chorus. Songs like the opener "Give It All To Me" and "Into Deep" are the best of the uptempo rockers (although all are great on this album). "Turn Around" is a very pretty power ballad, while "All I Believe In" is a bit more on the moody side--but with an amazing electic guitar solo in the middle. "Son Of A Loaded Gun" has a slow verse and uptempo chorus for the entire song. The title track is a real surprise--almost (not quite) a rap vocal in parts but for sure the heaviest song on the album, a killer track. "The Nightmare Begins" is another unique track--kind of dark and moody and overall pretty heavy. And for sure, "Find What We're Looking For" is an amazing melodic track that is a bit uptempo and very heartfelt--a perfect melodic sound. Possibly my favorite track on the album--although it is hard to choose.
This album is surely among the best releases in melodic rock in the late '90s. I didn't hear the whole thing until I bought it earlier this year. For sure, I was missing out. Strongly recommended for all fans of melodic rock. If you like Hardline, Velocity, or heavier Survivor, chances are you will like this.
