Heavy Music.......2007-04-18
This is definitely one for collectors. Early classic line up before the hits came along. Buy it and have a great time.
Awesome early Mk 2 concert........2007-01-13
First, let's make it clear that yes, this has been released before under the name "Scandinavian Nights." Yes, it's the same material. But this remastered release has much better sound quality and puts the tracks in their proper concert order. It also has extensive liner notes, pictures, ticket stubs, posters, etc.
Now, the music itself. This recording is from the Deep Purple In Rock era. The concert is about two and a half hours total, which is ridiculous for seven songs. Four of the songs are based more on Ian Gillan's vocals (Speed King, Into the Fire, Child in Time, Black Night) and the other three (Paint It Black, Wring that Neck, Mandrake Root) are a lot of good instrumental jamming. Wring that Neck and Mandrake Root are half an hour EACH, and Child in Time is almost twenty minutes.
The best word to describe this concert is INTENSE. Right from the first chord in the Speed King intro, you know you're in for a wild ride, and Deep Purple don't disappoint. Child in Time, Speed King, and Black Night are all longer, louder, and more energetic than the Made in Japan versions, and it's neat to see a live take of Into the Fire. Gillan does a lot more screaming than on MiJ, but he pulls it off very well. Ritchie Blackmore and Jon Lord tear it up the whole time.
There are several differences between this and Made in Japan. First, and most obviously, this is pre-Machine Head and consequently doesn't have the hits from that album. If you want Smoke on the Water and the like, go get Made in Japan. Second, the tracks are a lot longer than any other live Purple recording. Only two songs (Into the Fire and Black Night, which is the encore) are under ten minutes. Third, this was before the tensions in the band appeared, and so everyone is looser, more energetic, and consequently we have a much more intense show.
If you're new to Purple, get MiJ first. If you're a fan, you owe it to yourself to get this. It surpasses Made in Japan in some ways. Listen to it and you'll hear what I mean.
Rock Jazz.......2006-09-07
This is deep purple (mk2) in concert with the tapes rolling in Sweden late 1970 promoting the IN ROCK album. Just seven songs in about two and a half hours. Amazing stuff! This isn't jazz rock, but ROCK JAZZ, there's a big difference. Deep Purple's music (live & studio) continues to fascinate as well as puzzle after all this time is evidence we are dealing with art of the highest caliber.
This concert has been released before, but the sound quality is better here, than it's ever sounded before. There are so many great live tapes of Deep Purple out there (mainly unavailable on compact disc), but this one is still worth hearing.
this has been released as "scandinavian night 1970" by Conoisseur.......2005-08-05
this has been released in 1995 by Conoisseur as a double cd set "Scandinavian Nights live in Stockholm 1970". the cd signifies the same set like another one. if you bought another one pls keep away your fingers from this one. this is only a re-released from the older one.

Might even be better than Made in Japan.......2005-04-18
Live in Stockholm 1970 is a fantastic CD made a couple of years before Made in Japan. Purple were on all cylinders, improvising and playing like no one's business. Personally, I'd rather hear Mandrake Root or Wring that Neck instead of the Mule or Space Trucking. Black Night is amazing with Ritchie stretching out - could be the best version ever! I'm not going to say that Speed King is better than Highway Star or Into the Fire makes one forget about Smoke on the Water or that this version of Child in Time is better than Made in Japan's, but I just think that once you have heard MIJ a dozen times, this album makes a great alternative. In my opinion, it is the second best live Purple album just barely behind MIJ, but only by a little.

It's not Tokyo Warhearts, but it's still Bodom.......2006-10-30
First I have to say that Bodom is my favorite band and Alexi is a master...but this album was not as good as their first live album. I think that Alexi's playing has worsened over the years. The songs on the album are a fairly good selection. They really limit the number of songs off of Are You Dead Yet?, which is fantastic. The real disappointment is that they only play one song off of Something Wild and only a few off of Hatebreeder and some of the solos are not up to par; all of the tracks off of Follow The Reaper are phenominal. The sound quality is pretty good on all the tracks, and all but Henka have their own solo tracks, including Clash of the Booze Brothers which is a throw back to Tokyo Warhearts with Alexi and Janne battling it out, though I think Alexi kind of falls short of what I expected. All in all this album is a must own for all Bodom fans. This lets all fans experience Bodom live, since trips around the US for Bodom are few and far between.

what you would expect... from a live c.d........2005-04-30
If you are like me (looking for some new and different music to experience), you are curious about neurosis, and/or you want to save some $$$ and buy only one of their cds... i would highly recomend that you get live in stockholm.
first off i would like to mention that the sound quality in LiS is actually pretty good, not excellent, not bad but pretty good (for a live album to say the least). the songs on LiS run smoothly together, meaning the songs do not coincide with each other ruining the serious mood that LiS creates, which brings me to another important thing I would like to mention. this is a live cd, so you will hear the (stockholm)people clapping and cheering before and after each of the songs, which may bother some people but other that that there is really nothing to complain about...
About the music neurosis plays. this is not thrash, death, or anything hardcore. think about bands like tool or isis. the songs range from 5:53 to 11:49, you think you would get bored but instead you are hypnotized by it and they start to grow on you. after you listen to neurosis you will feel very different. if you do get this or any other neurosis cd's i would recomend you listening to them at night by yourself (turn up the volume really high too) and if your brave enough close your eyes.
The best way to experience Neurosis live at home........2003-10-28
"Live in Stockholm" presents basically the same tracklist as "Live in Lyon", which is kinda weird, actually the two discs were originally recorded with about two weeks of diference. But this one is actually better. The sound quality is far superior and it has two songs from the "Times of Grace" era that don't appear in "Lyon", so, if you're a big Neurosis fan (like me) you should get this record, if you only need one Neurosis live album (from the same tour) and don't own "live in Lyon", get this one, and if you already have it and don't care much for a slighlty different setlist, you could probably wait and hope that the next disc on this series comes from a different tour. Whatever the case may be, Neurosis is one of the greatest live bands on earth and this CD proves it.

A good live EP..........2001-07-20
This rare live EP was originally released by the official Breeders fan club for members only. Most of the songs come from Last Splash, with the exception of "Hellbound" (from Pod) and a cover of Guided By Voices' "Shocker In Gloomtown"..
That being said, this is a good live EP. "Shocker In Gloomtown" offers a nice buildup, making it a rather good choice for the opening track. The album tracks are performed fairly similar to the studio versions, albeit less polished and with more raw energy. Highlights include an intense version of "SOS", a noisy and energetic "Roi", and a powerful version of "No Aloha".. There is also a bit of entertaining between song banter, including Kim Deal telling us all how to make a mudslide.
The only major flaw is the length of this EP. It's only about 20 minutes long, and it seems to end right about the point where it has built up the most intensity. Overall, it's a cool live EP, but it's also likely to be an item that only hardcore fans or collectors would want to pick up.
Kim Deal, the craziness which makes me feel sane.......1999-05-22
This album truly rocks, and is a must for any breeders fan. It definitely is unfortunate that they are no longer around. All the tracks have the ability to pick me up and put me down in an entirely different place every time.

No One Else Here?.......2005-02-27
Ok, the sound on this disc is crap, and right in the middle of Mr. P.C., one of the mikes goes out, but, this recording of Mr. P.C. is mind-blowing. They forego the boppy-lead in and just start with cymbals smashing and Coltrane blowing like a madman. In the middle of the track, the bass drops out and it's just Elvin and Coltrane in one of the most insanely inspired instrumental duets ever. This is Coltrane at his best. The dude over on the Village Vanguard review who wrote reams about Coltrane's discipline/lack of it, has some good points, but Coltrane's genius is a treatise on genius: on being able to ride the edge between total chaos and order, and do so joyously. Totally agree that Coltrane sounds even more amazing today. The fact that they do wrap w/the bop riff after the unbridled insanity of the rest of the track is a nice bit of irony, but it also works so well it's scary.
[Reviewer tested this track with bouts of repeat playing that would make a cockroach blush.]

This album is kingly........2004-12-14
There are two things that I know for certain when it comes to jazz:
1. Stan Kenton's band could never be topped.
2. The best recordings where taken at live concerts.
Of all the Kenton albums that I have this is without a doubt my favorite. This has one of the best trombone sections of all time. Nothing could possibly top having Fitzpatrick, Fontana, Larson, and Kelly in the same section.
The band was without a lead trumpet for this performance and at times it shows. However, the incredible solos more than make up for it.
Buy this CD right now. You won't regret it.

Customer Reviews:
Key disc of live early Mott tracks.......2002-08-02
Disc 1: 5 stars. Disc 2: 1 star. What can I say? There are two different albums here. The first disc is a short set of songs from a concert in Stockholm. The second disc was recorded in Philadelphia. Disc 2 suffers from sound problems. This 2-record set contains a booklet with many intriguing comments from Mott bassist Overend Watts; it nicely supplements the more standard-issue historical booklet found in the 2-CD box, "The Ballad of Mott: A Retrospective," an excellent introduction to this underappreciated British band. I found "All the Way..." musically valuable for its first disc. It's got two searing numbers, "Thunderbuck Ram" and the Mountain cover "Long Red," which you'll love if, like me, you're into the heavier Mott material. The other songs are fine too, but the disc is also fascinating for Ian Hunter's between-song patter, where he is clearly chagrined at being unable to get any enthusiastic crowd response from the small Swedish audience. Hunter's sardonic comments recall what Watts says in the booklet about Hunter having had a much more difficult childhood than the other Mott members, who seem to have been much more securely middle-class in their upbringing. The booklet goes a long way toward explaining Mott's early appeal and comparing them with the then-current scene, namely Oasis. So, I'd say this album is a good supplement to your Mott collection if, like me, your interest was first whetted by Columbia-era Mott albums like "All the Young Dudes" or "Mott" or by one of the Columbia compilations, like "Ballad" mentioned above, and you'd like to have more biographical, historical, and musical information about their early years. Disc 2 of "All the Way..." is quite forgettable; mid-period Mott is represented better on Mott the Hoople's "Live" album on Columbia--the record released in 1974 or thereabouts that shows three of the members in 3/4 profile on the cover.
TERRIFIC ADDITION TO THE MOTT LEGACY.......2000-03-24
For those Mott the Hoople fans that could make the transition between their earlier Dylanesque albums and the post "Brain Capers" glam period, this CD is a terrific bridge, linking together the legendary "Long Red" bootleg with a newly ressurected set from their first American tour after their Bowie conversion. The "Long Red" CD is the old Mott from '71 in their pre "Brain Capers" prime with a short but potent set of their then live standards, including Ralphs' haunting 'Thunderbuck Ram' from "Mad Shadows."
The 'new' recording is from late '72 featuring the whole band with Verden Allen and Mick Ralphs, turning out a super set focused around the "All the Young Dudes" album. True, they don't yet have the confidence in their new roles as glam rockers (this was taped before "Young Dudes" and Mott hit big), but it is still a mighty fine romp through a whole bunch of (carefully performed) classics, including an extended 13 minute version of Ralphs' 'Ready For Love.' Having left behind their earlier emotional material, but not quite into the rave-ups yet, this tenuous period didn't last long for Mott and Verden Allen was gone within months of its recording, making it a welcome rariety to add to their catalog.
Now why can't they dig up some of the '73 and '74 live stuff to replace the dismal "Mott the Hoople Live" recording? The fabulous "Rest In Peace" bootleg is certainly as good in fidelity as anything on "All the way from Stockholm."
What a Disappointment.......2000-03-10
I have owned Ian Hunter's "Welcome to the Club" for many years and it is one of my favorite live albums. I recently discovered that a large portion of those songs are actually old Mott the Hoople songs, so I figured I'd try the real thing. Being a big 70's hard rock fan as well, I had high hopes for this collection. I could barely listen to it and I will be selling it back to the used CD store soon. Not only is the sound quality HORRIBLE, the band itself seems sloppy and untalented. It's no wonder you hear a band member at one point chiding the crowd for being lifeless, not to mention the crowd sounds like it's about 10 people.
Terrific live disc captures the band in their prime.......1999-11-22
After Bowie gave them a shot in the arm by producing them (and, ironically enough, also helped facilitate the band's break up by encouraging Ian Hunter to take an active role as leader of the band), Mott showed new vigor in concert. This documents the band playing with the original line up just after All the Young Dudes was released. The first part of the first disc suffers from some sonic problems, but after that the sound is very good for a tape as old as this.
All the Way..puts the Live album the band released in 1974 to shame! While Morgan Fisher and Ariel Bender were both terrific musicians, there was a chemistry missing from the band when Ralphs left. Along with the BBC CD this is highly recommended.
Great addition for any Mott the Hoople fan!.......1999-04-25
This CD suffers from some sound problems, but it is well worth the money anyway. Disc 2 is basically a live version of the "All the Young Dudes" album, complete with a pathetic David Bowie accompaniment on "Dudes"(Bowie's voice is wimpy next to Ian Hunter's). The 13 minute "Ready for Love/Afterlights" is a Mick Ralphs tour de force!
