Took a while to come - but well worth the wait!.......2004-06-21
I came across Salako years ago, at a gig in their home town of Hull. It was there I was hooked. The atmosphere was amazing. Salako on satge are both charming and hilarious. Their style back then was erring toward lo-fi, but I was surprised to find they were very different to Belle and Sebastian - which is what I was originally led to believe.
I have got all the albums, and love each to bits - following each twist and turn in their musical lives with each whimsical, beautiful song. The lyrics always speak the truth, and are always full of bitter sweet fun and love.
I was so looking forward to their third album - and after years in the making it arrives as 'the story of our life so far'. My god it is amazing. I want to eat it all up. Salako have grown up. The leads voice is more mature, yet the fun is not lost. The songs are louder and grittier, definately more Rock in there than before. Each track stays in my head and will not budge, and constantly I marvel at the use of keyboard and mental drumming. This album truly seems to be the story of their lives, grittier, full of love. All i can say is get it and love it and surly it'll become the soundtrack to your lives.
