I think Leftfield were one of the pioneers of the "electronic" genre back in the mid 90s (along with The Chemical Brothers and The Prodigy). This album spans their short career including all of their singles.

If you are new to Leftield then I recommend buying "Leftism". This album is in my top 5 electronic albums of all time (along with "Endtroducing" from Dj Shadow, "Fat of the Land" by the Prodigy, "Dig Your Own Hole" from the Chemical Brothers and "Vegas" by Crystal Method).

Leftield' 1st album ("Leftism") includes trance, reggae, and big beats. Meanwhile their 2nd album (Rhythm & Stealth) is more experimental and obscure and unfortunately never comes close to the brilliance of "Leftism".

I give this "Greatest Hits" album only 1 star because there is no need to release a "Best of" record considering that Leftfield ONLY released 2 albums. They could have made this so much better by including a bonus disc with deleted b-sides, mixes, or live tracks but unfortunately this is just a release that appeals to newcomers offering little new to old fans like me (except for 2 tracks from deleted 12" singles).

I just hope Leftfield releases a Rarities / live tracks / b-sides / album in order to show the world great tracks from hard to get or deleted singles like "Cut for Life" or "Dusted" (x-ecutioners remix).

I know, it seems a little strange for a band with only two albums to even have a greatest hits package. However, this one maes itself actually useful by doing the smart thing and trying to put as many non-album tracks as possible. Snakeblood, Shallow Grave, A Final Hit, Not Forgotten, and More Than I Know were all taken from other places. I would recommend that you get this as a supplement to the albums, not as a replacement. There's also a special edition with all the videos on a second disc, but I think it may be UK only, so it would be PAL. Now that we have a greatest hits package, could we get a remix compilation? Their remixes were just as good as their own material.

The bonus cuts are good if not unfamiliar to aficionados, and the sound quality is fine. The product arrived quickly and is in fine physical shape. But I got the UK version of the first album plus 8 song bonus edition, not the US version + 10 bonus song one I ordered....I mean, it's all good, but.....
