My Second Metal Disc Ever...........2006-06-10
It's been awhile since I last listened to this cd. Some time last year, I think. East West has came up with a rare decent Nu Metal cd and when I got I listened to it pretty regulary because I didn't have a real big metal collection at the time. As time went on and the more metal cds I got, the less I listened to this album and this style of metal. I'm not saying that nu-metal is totaly bad, it's just that I never really got into this style when I first got into metal. As for the music, it's like a mix of Korn, a little emo, some Tool (not much), a little techno if I remember right, and even a little U2. All in all, it's not bad; it's just not one of my favorite cds or bands. If you do like nu-metal and tired of all the Korn ripoffs, then get this one. And while you are at it, pick up some stuff from Project 86 and from the way-far-more superior Demon Hunter.
VERY GOOD BALANCE OF SONGS.......2006-02-19
I really liked a lot of these songs. I liked the fast ones a lot and I even liked their slower songs - their slow song "She Cries" is very pretty and "Song X" and "Wake" are just awesome.
Like hard rock/metal? This is for you!
their best.......2005-12-11
A friend of mine burned me a cd that has this album and Hope in Anguish on it. What the heck happened to this band?
The Light in Guinevere's Garden is quickly becoming one of my favorite metal (or whatever you call this style this week) albums. At times they sound a lot like SlipKnot, others like Alice in Chains, and often very original. However you want to classify the sounds, this album is awesome. The drumming is awesome, lots of double kicking and tempo shifts. The guitar playing is also very good for this genre. And the vocals are top notch as well. My hopes were high as this album ended and the mixed disc evolved into Hope in Anguish... I hate when a band lets you down. Hope in Anguish sounds like... like it could be a demo this band made about 10 years before they made The Light in Guinevere's Garden. The complexity of the drumming and guitar parts on TLIGG is nowhere to be found on Hope in Anguish, and the vocals... it sounds like their singer quit singing cold turkey for about 20 years before going to the studio again.... but hey, this is a review of The Light in Guinevere's Garden, so enough negativity. Buy this album and lets all pray that East West one day makes a return to the talent and potential they displayed on this album. We need more good music like The Light in Guinevere's Garden and less drivel like Hope in Anguish.
OLDJESUSFREAK!.......2004-09-21
I was buying Big Dismal and check out my auto suggestions check this out and bought it as well, it has become one of my favorite albums. It occpies a slot im my cd changer.
Amazing Hard Rock.......2004-04-20
In my opinion, this is East West's best CD. It got an award for Christian Hard Rock Album of the Year at the Dove Awards, and rightfully so. Hits like "Song X," "Superstar," "Closure" and "She Cries" tore up Christian rock radio in 2001 when this album came out. In addition to the hit singles, every song on this CD is a great. When it comes to comparing their sound to other Christian bands, I would say Demon Hunter comes the closest. You can't go wrong with this CD if you like the Hard Rock/Metal genre. My favorites are "Wake," "Nephesh," "She Cries," and "Let You Go."

Best CD I own!.......2005-07-20
I actually just recently got this CD about a month ago! I absolutly LOVE it!!! I just got their newest one today and The Light in Guinevere's Garden is SO much better! My favorite songs are 1, 9, and 10. I definitely recommend it!!!
Great CD.......2005-01-31
This is one fantastic CD. The music is extremely diverse for a rock CD. Even though a couple of songs have tinges of another band, the movement throughout was great. Since the other posts pretty much said it all, I'll leave it at that.
Nothing less than absolutely incredible..........2004-06-24
First of all, let's start with a solid fact. In 2000, this album won KROQ's Hard Rock Album of the Year award. This coming from a secular station that would like nothing better than to ignore Christian bands. This band cannot and will not be ignored. Every song is incredible and speaks directly to the soul. The lyrics('We should've known it'd be like this/An upward struggle of falling down/ We've taken comfort in loathing/ It's where we used to play anyway") to the music, this is a CD that will leave you breathless. You think Tool's got something going? East West takes Maynard to school...with a quickness. As if all of this weren't enough, the sheer variety of this CD is fantastic. A hardcore tune, next to a dreamy ballad next to a pure pop tune next to a melodic rock tune next to a....on and on. Basically, just do yourself a favor and buy the CD. You'll never ever regret that you did. Plus your friends will think you're cool for knowing about this band when they eventually blow up.
I have seen them in concert.......2003-12-26
This album, hands down is one of the best CDs on the market. The talent these boys have is amazing. I also have Hope in Anguish which I like. Not only are thier albums incredible but, they are very cool people. If you ever get the chance, see them. But, even if you can't, you can get this CD.
Absolutely Awesome CD.......2003-12-19
Normally, i'd break down a cd song-by-song to explain it better, but i see that another reviewer has already done so, and i pretty much agree with what they have said. but i am a Christian who loves hard, passionate Christian music, and while i have many, many cd's, this one is still at the top of my list. It rarely ever leaves my cd changer, and while they have a style that many bands try to achieve, they have an extreme talent that makes it sound perfect. their growls dont get annoying or repetitive, unlike most bands who try to reproduce this style. Not only is this true, but East West also has an amazing ability to succeed with a variety of styles. they have a variety of songs ranging from a head-banging fury(Ded, Wake, Nephesh) to rap-core metal(Breathe, Song X) to positive glam-rock(Superstar) to tranquil songs of love(She Cries, Let You Go). This is definitely a landmark band that should make any lover of hard rock or metal way more than satisfied. U wont b disappointed.
