bug.......2003-05-30
I liked it. I thought it had a funky beat and I could bug out to it.
Funny, But Serious, But Real Funny, And Great.......2003-04-24
A must buy for lovers of experimental jazz, for addled geezers still digging Looney Tunes, for young punks who think Pearl Jam has soul, and, most importantly, for anyone who needs to start their day like this album sounds: Fresh, Inventive, and Bold. Formerly with Willner's projects, sideman to Waits and B-52's, and co-leader oif Tin Huey, Ralph Carney's new album soars to weirder heights than even he--a white Lester Young with Kazoos from Woodstock--has soared before. All of the album is a highlight: the singing and the words; the multi-instrumentation; the cool grooves, both rocking and soothing. There is no one out there, and I mean out there, like Carney, and this is his best gig. Get it. Get bit. Get it again.
mind boggling!!.......2003-04-03
I have always dug Ralph Carney's contributions to many recordings, Tin Huey, Tom Waits, to name but a few... I really liked his last c.d."I like you (a-lot)" his new one is a GIANT LEAP FORWARD!! it goes to many places, but doesn't feel like he is trying to show off, if you like the "residents" early Brian Eno, and the "memphis jug band" this is your record!!!
