better live.......2005-03-24
theses guys are great live seen um with tesla but had never heard of them before, wow unreal they came very close to stealing the show, but the cds do not come close to the live sound and the best song live is not on there cds. rollin i think it was. i cant wait for the next cd i check in to see if its out. they kinda sound like tesla but more like a band called cry of love. i say buy there cds and if you get a chance to see um live lucky you.
A pleasant surprise.......2001-10-11
Like the other reviews i caught them a year ago as an opening act for King's X. All i can do is ditto most of what was already said. Blues based southern rock with great hooks and a near perfect lead vocalist. A very tight band that is extremely unpretentious. i was so impressed i went to a show a week later and brought several friends. We are all fans of King's X and were once again impressed with them but everyone was shocked at this unknown opening act. I couldn't even find their CD in any local stores. All these reviews have forecast that they will be stars. It hasn't happened and it's a shame. This band deserves it like no other i've heard in years. It would be sad if they struggled in relative obscurity as King's X has done. If you are a lover of music give this a try, you will not be disappointed.

Saw them open for KX at Slim's in SF (The show with Ty Tabor in a cervical collar), and was very impressed. Sounds like the good songs from Tesla with more substance in the lyrics, some really solid musicianship, and a lot of energy. I love this album, and will definitely buy the next one. "Wings" is extremely cool.
Texas rock.......2001-03-28
I got the album 6 months ago and constantly listened to it. They opened for Tesla when I saw them in Houston and they put 100% in to they're awesome show. I have never seen a crowd that where the majority had never heard the music before just totally rocked out with these guys. Sound is fresh with Mr. Big type singer. This band should be worldwide.
Ditty, Wings & Dashboard Mary.......2001-01-03
I read that Texas based King's X had something to do with this band. Thank you King's X. Podunk can rock. They have a great pop crunch sound with almost infectious grooves (as my Canadian buddy Chris says). I can't quite put my finger on who these guys "sound" like - they have a sound of their own. Their lead singer sounds quite a bit like Eric Martin from MR BIG. Between rock & hard rock, the songs have nice hooks that all party goer's can enjoy. A nice new refreshing slap in the face. Try some Podunk - my bet is you'll like this band.

Podunk Rules.......2001-08-14
I got the pleasure of seeing Podunk and hugging Jason) in Chicago w/ King's X. Let me tell you, I love southern rock style music and these guys outta be instant classics. Jason has such a great voice. I stood there in utter amazement at what I was witnessing. Dashboard Mary is definately top 20 material, as well as Wings and Catch the Bus. SummerSong and Little More were also worthy of listening to. To be 100% honest, there isnt a song on here that I dont like. I have heard that they have a simmiler sound to Black Crowes, but I would take that as a compliment. I just hope that they make it to the top, cause that's where they belong!
Throwin' Bones.......2000-07-25
I recently had the pleasure to see PODUNK Live on tour with King's X here in New Jersey. I'm always looking for something new and catchy - Podunk is it! A great live performance I had to purchase the CD. It's a great recording. Jason's voice is strong and the music is fresh, Harmonies are right on. The comparison with the Black Crow's is justified but, I prefer Podunk. The Live performance sold me. Every tune stays with you.... and YOU CAN'T LET THEM GO! Much success to these guys. REAL music is NOT DEAD.
Great Rock 'n' Roll Music.......2000-07-18
I was fortunate to actually see Podunk recently on tour with King's X and they ROCK! This is a "must buy" rock album.
Jason has top notch rock 'n' roll vocals and guitar playing, complimented very well by Bryan's harmonizing guitar and vocals. A very solid bottom end by bassist Phil and drummer Dwight completes the line-up.
Catchy chord changes and riffs are throughout the CD. The tunes are straight forward rock 'n' roll, with a hint of blues. There are definitely tunes that could easily be on Top 40 radio. You'll leave the CD in your changer for a long time!
Waiting for the big time.......2000-04-17
About a year ago a song came on the radio as I drove through Abilene, Texas. It started simply and unpretentiously, but built into a rocking power ballad. I tried to identify the band, but quickly realized that I'd just never heard them before. There was no question in my mind- I had to find the CD. The song was "Dashboard Mary" by Podunk.
There is no doubt in my mind that if these guys could find a broader audience then they would go to the big-time. Throwin' Bones is a very good album, and the band is certainly worthy of its constant comparisons to the Black Crowes. They remain slightly unpolished, but they are definitely a diamond in the rough.
If you listen to the album, "Dashboard Mary" should be top priority, but don't miss out on "Wings", either. They are the two best songs on a solid disc.
Southern Fried Rock.......1999-12-30
Throwin Bones is southern rock at its best. Sounds heavily influenced by the Black Crowes. Top twenty material all the way. Be sure and check out "Dashboard Mary", "Catch the Bus", "In the Middle", and "The Great Musical Suicide".
