A friend recommended this CD after hearing a track played on classical radio. What a find! The choirs may not be quite as "polished" as some, but the raw edge adds a very refreshing element of heart and passion to the music. You get the impression they really believe what they are singing about. I especially appreciate "Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah" and "Crimond." These will lift you so high you will have to look down to see heaven!

    I do have to give it to these guys that they sound like they are having fun, however most of the songs sound thrown together at best. If you are looking for something a little goofy that does not take itself too seriously, then this is for you.

    This CD, advertised as the first by this eight-piece ska band, is really a great mix of ska, jazz, big band and (they may not agree) pop. The melodies are catchy and creative, from the upbeat pop fanfare of "Face the Day", some reel big ska with "The Ska Bum Ditty" to the jazzy feel of "Please Don't Laugh" (and its parody "Please Don't Jazz"). With their dynamic rhythm section and incredibly tight horns (sounds like these guys have been playing together for YEARS), they've put out a great first effort that's fun to listen to. Buy it - you'll be glad you experienced some "Trouble on the 56".
