This would have been a fine collection of Dance Remixes,B-sides & concert tracks,with 2 newly recorded selections and 4 selections previously vinyl-only,but careless mastering by Universal Music of Holland accidentally renders half of the Disc Two selections in Mono sound.These are 1980's stereo recordings.How do we exchange our defective product for the corrected pressing? This is heartbreaking.

This CD follows up the Vol. 1 Level 42 Best of collection which includes extended versions and remixes, as well as two recent tracks featuring Singer/Bassist Mark King and the Bacci Bros.


I would recommend this item for fans who want a good collection of alternate versions on CD. The packaging is very well done. Please see the customer images of the cover. These were scanned by Ronald Kuipers.

Note: This CD is in the process of being reissued by Universal due to a mastering error that was discovered.

    5 out of 5 stars Remastered to Perfection! The Best 2-Disc Compilation of the Band!.......2005-12-27

    Yes, there are only 2 discs on this version. For the 3-disc version you need to look at another link and it costs a lot more. You really don't need the extra disc of live and other throwaway tracks though as this 2-disc version is perfection itself.

    While the 3-disc version comes in a digipak package, this 2-disc version comes in a jewel case but all tracks have been 32 bit remastered for an excellent sounding album. This has to be in terms of sound quality among the top 5 that I've ever heard in my life and believe me I've heard too many discs that have been "remastered" and yet sound worse than the cassettes.

    Level 42 is more than just a singles band though and although this is an excellent place to get a taste of all the best without having to get all the albums, I'd still recommend getting remastered versions of "World Machine" and "Running In the Family" as some truly inspired album tracks that are not here are there and just have to be heard.

    I'm referring to tracks like "Sleepwalkers" and "Freedom Someday" among many others. Brilliant tracks in this album though are "Are You Hearing What I Hear?", "The Chinese Way", "Hot Water", "Children Say" and "Leaving Me Now". No weak tracks here really except perhaps towards the end of the second disc when Level 42's star was clearly waning.

    If you are new to Level 42, this is the place to start but not to end. Like me, wait for Polydor to do the same treatment that they did with this brilliant album to "World Machine" and "Running in the Family" and snap them up! Very highly recommended.

    Amazon did not mention that there is actully 3 disks in this collection with live tracks, unreleased material and a couple of solo songs from Mark and Mike. With the other two disks and the remastering of the orginal tracks it definitly makes this collection worth it. If you are a fan like I am and have a really!! hard time finding and obtaining their earlier work, this is a must have.

    Level 42 were among the bands that made a huge success in the 80s and 90s, like Duran Duran, Simple Minds, Alphaville, A-ha, Camouflage, and so on. This double CD is packed with all their hits, digitally remastered with 32 bit for a higher sound quality. "Something About You", "Leaving Me Now", "Lessons In Love", "Running In The Family", "To Be With You Again" are among my favorites.
    Buy this CD and thank me.

        This CD was issued May 7, 2002 and in no more than 3 weeks (today as I wrote this review: May 31) it has been out of stock. Wauw! I just hesitate to purchase this album because there's no audio clip or tracklist or any commentary/review here. What kind of CD is this? can anybody shed me a light?
