I first heard Turley, I was on my way home from work( about 36 years ago) and this unbelievable voice came on the radio singing "I Heard the Voice of Jesus" and I was so blown away by his vocal and the depth from his heart. I had to stop and regroup
after hearing this mans voice, WOW!!!
I soon after heard him open for Poco and the Steve Miller blues band plus THE Moody Blues here in the Los Angeles area.
The 3rd song turley sang was "I heard the voice of Jesus", about a 6 minute song. His range and vocals from this song stunned the sell-out crowd. I became an honored fan of his amazing vocals, especially this song. Awsome is all I can come up with. The crowd was dead silent at the end of this song, then there was an immediate overwhelming loud applause that was deafening and totally respectful of his outstanding voice, OUTSTANDING GIFTED God given VOICE.
I have never been the same since. Where are you?

LOVED THIS VOICE AND ORDERED THE ONLY CD AVAILABLE, CANT WAIT FOR IT TO ARRIVE. I HAD NEVER HEARD OF THE NAME TURLEY RICHARDS AND JUST HAPPENED TO BE UP AT 2AM, UNABLE TO SLEEP AND HAD XM 70'S ON....BEST REGARDS WHEREVER TURLEY IS?

Turley Richards is a talented singer/songwriter/producer whose exposure as a supernova was somehow aborted. Who knows why? This album, "West Virginia Superstar," while full of exquisite music has escaped notice by all but his die hard fans. Listen to the title song to understand where he comes from, and then listen to "Play Me." If you don't ache with sadness, you have no feelings. The first four songs on this album rock and rollick with exuberance, yet they exhibit jazz-inflected sophistication. Then the album fires up a bit of R&B, with the emphasis on the blues, before segueing to an almost mystical title song. Finally the album turns reflective and perhaps the artist becomes resigned to the title he annoited himself with. You could have, perhaps should have, been more. I'm glad this music is available and hope more people will buy it and make you more.
