About the Artist
Mountain Con is more of a recording project than just a band. With years of experience in production and engineering, "the Con" are forever pushing the boundless limits of the digital medium into new territory, while remaining true to their distinct lo-fi roots. From their basement studio in Seattle, Mountain Con has taken the dusty, dirty sound of Americana and churned it through today's state of the art digital technology. What has emerged is a hybrid of folk-rock and hip-hop break beats that defies the genre-specific labels of the most astute music critics.

The new album Dusty Zeros Dirty Ones was created entirely through their own process, which began by recording their own jam sessions to generate original sample material. They reconstructed, chopped and rearranged the best loops into a diverse and dynamic sample library that laid the foundation for the new record. Final tracking and James Nugent's Dylan-esque lyrics were recorded at Robert Lang Studios in Seattle. Mix down took place in July at Seattle's contactcreate studios. Dusty Zeros Dirty Ones is set to hit stores September 14th, 2004.

The recording project of Mountain Con moves forward from here. Says Pledge: "We want to basically combine the worlds of the remix DJ, the record producer and the original live band." This genre-bending six-man music and production team exists on that yet to be explored edge of contemporary music, that place where the young fresh present and the wise old past meet on a rainy Seattle night for the ultimate basement jam session.

James Nugent - Vocals and guitar Ben Erickson - keys, samples, and arrangements Sweed - Vocals, guitar, banjo, slide and steel guitar Pierre Ferguson - Bass, guitar, and vocals Pledge - Turntables, samples, and programming Mike Watt - Drums and programming
