ben Watt is mainly known as the guitar playing half of England's folk-pop outfit "Everything But The Girl". This, his only solo effort so far is a beautiful, melancholy album that shines with emotion and lyricism. Watt plays soft, Bossanova influenced electro-acoustic Guitars and sings in a voice that seats somewhere between Nick Drake & Morissey... This is a must for any mellow music fan who is looking for an original, simple album that will be your best friend for a while.
I love this CD.......2000-07-05
I love this CD. It may not be for everyone but if you like mellow, smooth vocals and intriguing, unusual lyrics then you will like this CD. It will be an essential part of your collection if you are a fan of Everything But the Girl as well.

Good Stuff.......2001-08-27
So you have a record collection, all the albums by certain artists, maybe imports and limited editions too, but then there's that other class, "odd ones" the ones you love to play, ones that remain favourites forever. They may be albums by unknown singers who never quite made it, or like this one "something they did earlier". I have this album on cassette, on the other side is an album by Ben Watt and Robert Wyatt (Summer into Winter?). I cannot tell you why this album is a favourite, maybe it's Ben's voice, maybe the guitar, maybe something about the melodies of the songs. If you know Everything but the Girl and how their first album sounded, then it's something like that, but much starker, that's probably how I would best describe it, Stark...and very, very beautiful. I am glad that it is available on CD, it's one of those albums you put on and listen to, you have no option, Ben grabs your attention and sings into your soul.
