Great running music.......2007-07-05
I purchased this CD to download onto an MP3 player so I can listen to it while I run. I haven't been able to get it away from my kids long enough to use it yet. Great music from great Rocky movies! We all love it.
Really Under Rated.......2007-07-03
Rocky has one of the most under rated soundtracks in history. It's just as good as SAturday Night Fever, but unlike that, doesn't get caught up in its own pretentiousness. Eye of the Tiger gets things going, an awesdome 80s track that is much more straight heavy metal. Then the next several tracks are also by Survivor, as this makdes up about half the whole disc, taken from Rocky 4. Hearts on Fire remains very under rated, Living in America only gets bett each time, The Burning Heart remains emotional. The rest of the album is really hit or miss. War I even under rate, only because it pales in comparison to even Hearts on Fire. The real show stopper here though is Gonna Fly Now, taken from the first Rocky flick, a timeless masterpiece that is a mix of classical, high school band geek and disco with some heavy metal solo thrown in for good measure. A classic album I love that some people just don't care for.
buy it with the new one and have really the best.......2007-02-06
I you wish have the rocky movies soudtracks, get the last one (from Roky Balboa) This just has 10 songs and the new one has the almost the best, but if you get this and the new you will have all better song ( still mising mesurement of men from rocky V)
Get two disc an save a lot of money get it 5 disc
Rocky IV Music with Some Imitation Bill Conti Music.......2007-01-07
While this "Anthology" of Rocky movie music is mostly satisfying, it falls short of capturing the real heart and soul of what makes Rocky movie music so compelling and distinctive. Presented here are the best vocal tracks from Rocky III and IV, which are worthy additions to any music collection. Also included are two Bill Conti imitation tracks of "Gonna Fly Now", both I might add, clearly inferior to the original.
I bought this album thinking I could get the best of the Rocky music without having to buy all the originals. What I found is that the originals are what makes makes Rocky movie music so distinctive. Rather than purchase this album, I'd buy the original Rocky IV and the original Rocky soundtrack; there is more music, and it is all "real" Rocky music. Another option is to purchase the latest Rocky Anthology, "Rocky Balboa".

It Stirs You to Never Give Up, No Matter What Age........2007-01-05
My first encounter with Rocky was the new movie, Rocky Balboa, and the music was marvelous. It kept one's interest in what was happening on the screen. The theme from his other movies was used during the computer fight which led up to the actual fight in Las Vegas.
Now, I understand why Michael Pare talked like Rocky in 'The Philadelphia Experiment,' as they were both supposed to be from Philadelphia. That was one of my favorite movies, and this new one about Rocky will be another one.

Brings back my childhood memories!.......2007-01-12
These tunes on the CD are AWESOME! Reminds me of sitting in front of our black & white TV, watching the westerns as a kid! Sigh! The "good old days"! This is a great CD to own!
great ride, great memories,great shows,.......2005-11-09
an excellant collection of the western themes from the shows that were a real thrill to watch, and this music is a thrill and treat to listen to also.
Best of the West.......2005-08-19
Great CD - has all the old favorites on it. My husband plays it all the time. A sure winner as a gift for those from the Cowboys on TV Generation.
Gallops down memory lane!.......2000-09-26
My husband and I (forty-somethings)enjoyed every memory, and tried to see who remembered each song first. Our kids just got a kick out of it all. Gotta get this one for my dad!!
Old West favorites ride again.......2000-06-28
Baby boomers who loved watching those old TV westerns in the fifties and sixties will love this disc. These are the original versions of great songs, with full orchestration.

too old songs.......2007-03-15
Talvez no era lo que esperada, pero hay un par de canciones que hace tiempo queria tener
Songs of Almodovar.......2007-02-18
Beautiful songs old and new. Almodovar selects the most beautiful music for his movies and this CD shows that. I do not think I could have found this CD at a music store which generally offers very little in international music.
Pedro Almodovar Film Music.......2007-01-05
I have been watching Mr Almodovar's films for many years, and the music in them played by itself still holds so many images in my head when I play the CD, ESPECIALLY the music from LAW OF DESIRE, from the 1980's with a YOUNG and SEXY Antonio Banderas playing a Bi-Sexual male who's obsessed with a Gay director and will do ANYTHING to be a part of his life.
The music from that film is such an important part of that film, but it is also so cool to listen to while cruising the street on a long drive home! I HIGHLY reccommend it!
A Must!!!.......2006-08-04
A few years ago i discovered Almodovar's films and i was enchanted, not only because of the stories and the wonderful direction, as well by the awesome performances but because of the beautiful music. The songs Almodovar chooses for his films have a double value: first of all, because they are an integral part of the stories, and second, `cause Pedro saves songs and performers who we, sadly, have forgotten.
The songs in this compilation, evoque the very best moments in Pedro's Films, but even then, they have a life of their own, I must confess that ever since I bought this cd (two weeks ago) I've listen it at least fifteen times and still I can't get out of my head those beautiful boleros and rancheras songs in the cd.
Maybe the only flaw of the disc are the eclectic songs by the duo Almodóvar/McNamara, which, personally, I'd take off, however, we are talking about a compilation of Almodovar's films, and we must include them so we can talk of his early movies.
Songs like Lo Dudo (my personal favourite), Año de Amor, Piensa en Mí, En el Último Trago, and of course Puro Teatro and Ne Me Quitte Pas, make this CD an excelent purchase. It doesn't matter the language you speak or if you don't understant note ven a "Gracias" in Spanish, the performances worth it for themselves, music is the universal language, and this is the best proof of it.
Now, about this compilation, we must consider that we are talking about a CD that first came to sell around 1997, therefore (unfortunately) we won't find music from his recent films (Live Flash, All About my Mother, Talk to Her, Bad Education and Volver -Return-), although I would recommend to "add" Somos (by Chavela Vargas), Tajabone (Ismael Lo), Cucurrucucu Paloma (Caetano Veloso), Quizás Quizás Quizás (Sara Montiel) and Volver (Estrella Morente) respectively.
José Roberto Ortega Ocampo, Mexico City, August 3rd. 2006.

I saw 2 movies by Almodovar recently and was quite impressed by the music in the movies. So I got this CD and I am definitely not disappointed.

Album Description
Imagination Movers combine pop, hip-hop, rock and world music with educational themes for kids and their parents. The Movers sing about healthy eating, separation anxiety, sibling rivalry and other topics that relate to being a little kid, but the group's musical style has a decidedly grownup groove. Think Mr.. Rogers meets the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Regardless of how you describe it, Movers music is catchy stuff that parents and children will want to listen to over and over again!
The Movers' new disc, "Calling All Movers," features the band's trademark blend of kid-friendly themes and sophisticated rock and hip-hop music. "Please and Thank You" is a Caribbean-touched homage to every parent's three favorite words. The call-and-response jam "What's in the Fridge" is evidence of the Movers' continued obsession with snack food. And "First Day of School" is a sentimental look at a milestone from a child's point of view. These and 12 other new Movers tunes will be favorites in family CD players for years to come.

The Movers Rock!.......2007-03-13
My 2-year-old loves these guys! Ever since the first time she saw them on Playhouse Disney, they have been her favorite. And now they're mine! All of their songs are loaded with good messages and I love all the musical influences. Each song is different and great in its own way. I just cannot say enough good things about the Movers, and especially this album. Check out "Looking Out the Window" (one of my favorites) and "First Day of School" (my daughter's favorite, along with "I Want My Mommy" from "Good Ideas"). We also bought the Movers' "Good Ideas" album and love that as well (although personally, I prefer this one!). :-)
Fun for Parents, too!.......2007-02-18
This music is GREAT. We are from New Orleans, but unfortunately never attended an Imagination Movers performance! I am kicking myself now. My sons, ages 4 and 2, request this music every time we get in the car. And I enjoy listening and singing along, too. It's like good adult music with kid lyrics. Can't beat it! Thanks you guys.
Think outside the box!.......2005-11-16
This guys are great! Kids love them! Parents can tune out the lyrics and the music will take you back to your college days! I've dropped my kids off at school and continued to listen without them in the car! Baton Rouge, LA
I got it - You get it!.......2004-11-24
We've had Good Ideas for a while and just bought Calling All Movers. Wonderful! Simply wonderful! My kids love the Fridge song and the Recipe song and I like Please and Thank you. Do youself a favor and buy this for your kids because this is real kids music - you'll get hooked too:)
Wow, a pleasant surprize!.......2004-07-31
My son got this as a gift for his 5th birthday. I heard it in the background one afternoon and walked to his room to see what it was. I was shocked when I listened to to lyrics and realized it was music for him. I sat an listened and watched him dance around. Remarkable music. Two thumbs up. One kids size and one grown up. Now I need to get their other CD.

So, so.......2007-06-08
There are some nice songs on this CD but it is certainly a stretch to call it the all time greatest movie songs. Many are songs you never heard of from movies you never heard of.
A MUST HAVE FOR THE COLLECTOR.......2005-10-11
WHAT A NICE SUPRISE, I ALL MOST MISSED THIS ONE. I SAW IT IN A STORE BUT DIDN'T GET IT. I GOT TO SAMPLE IT TODAY AND NOW WISH I
HAD GOT IT THE FIRST TIME I SAW IT. PUT UP YOUR FEET AND RELAX AWHILE THIS ONE IS SMOOTH, CALMS THE NERVES. WE ALL NEED THAT TIME OUT THESE DAYS. IT'S A KEEPER AND THE PRICE IS RIGHT!!!!
A REAL NICE COMPILATION, SOMEONE HAS GOOD TASTE...
Buy the double version CD as the best songs are on the 2nd C.......2003-08-03
I have this album but it comes with two CD's. If amazon's version really only comes with one I would recommend going to an actual CD store as I've never seen this CD with just one disc before. It always has two and the cover is black with everything else exactly the same.
Two discs of music provide a vast range songs. Some slow, some fast, some good, some not. The thing you want from soundtracks is for your imagination to be taken back to those movies when the song is playing and to be honest not all these songs do that but there are a substantial number of good ones that do.
The advantage this album has over similar ones is that all the songs on here are by the original artists, the same ones you actually here in the films. No doubt you will not like all the songs on here and some do appear on a lot of compilation albums but with 40 songs you surely will find enough you will enjoy.
Excellent 80's songs such as Ghostbusters, Take My Breathe Away and When The Going Gets Tough (The Tough Get Going) along with 70's classics like, Mustang Sally and Knockin' on Heaven's Door when combined with 90's movie hits such as The Shoop Shoop Song and Philadelphia make this a huge album.
This is not even the greatest movie songs from the 1990s.......2003-07-26
Ah, the joys of hyperbole. If this is indeed "The All Time Greatest Movie Songs" then you would have to believe that the medium was invited in the mid-1980s when "Ruthless People" came out, because that is the only film not from the 1990s in this collection (and I vividly remember going to see "A Hard Day's Night" and "Lawrence of Arabia" in the 1960s). Would it have been so very wrong to say this collection represented the greatest movie songs of the 1990s? Well, yes, because that would not be true either.
Here you will find a #1 song from the Billboard charts, "A Whole New World" from "Aladdin" performed by Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle, an Oscar winning song, "Streets of Philadelphia" by Bruce Springsteen, and the album starts off with a song that accomplished both feats, "My Heart Will Go On," Celine Dion's end title tune from "Titanic." But the best selling movie song from the decade is not here: Whitney Houston's cover of Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You" from "The Bodyguard," which spent 14 weeks at #1. You do get Michael Jackson doing "Will You Be There (Theme from 'Free Willy')," but I do not think that is a good thing.
Overall the artists are better than the tunes. You have Lauryn Hill, Sophie B. Hawkins, Michael Bolton, Gloria Estefan, Kenny Loggins, Barbra Streisand, Bryan Adams, Billy Joel, Des'ree, and Luther Vandross. However, I bet you would be hard pressed to correctly identify half of the songs those artists sing on this album. Maybe part of the problem is that except for "Men in Black" by Will Smith, none of songs double as the title of the film. You might be able to whistle the theme from "Patton" or sing the title tune from your favorite Bond movie, but could you even name what song would be on the album if I told you it was from "William Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet" or "Simon Birch"?
The final nail in the coffin of this collection is going to be that you probably already have the best songs on "All Time Greatest Movie Songs." That means chances are remote you will find three or four songs you really want to add to your music library.
An Outstanding Collection of Original Artists' Songs !!.......2001-09-26
Finally, a collection of movie music by the original soundtrack artists! This is an wonderful selection; particularly "Streets of Philadelphia" by Bruce Springsteen, "Go the Distance" by Michael Bolton, and "I Want to Spend My Lifetime Loving You" by Marc Anthony & Tina Arena. I would Highly Recommend this CD to anyone looking for a fine selection of movie songs - THIS is the one to have!

Product Description
Almost from the day ti was debuted on Off-Broadway, Rent has developed iconic stature as the show to see. Based upon Puccini's classic 1896 opera, La Boheme, Jonathan Larson's rock musical is the joyous, breathtaking and inspiring story of a group of New York City East Village artists struggling to find their voices an find love in today's tough times. Boasting essentially the same cast that graced teh show in New York and garnered that year's Tony for Best Musical and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Rent has now arrived as a movie, and as always. Pocket Songs is on the cusp of all things new. We are pleased to present the movie version of RENT, PSCDG 6053 with son songs added that did not appear in our Broadway version. Which is also available as PSCDG 1396. And wait until you hear our production. It's not to be missed.

The tracks on this album do not match what is on the film there are bits in there that I do not recognise and I have watched the film so many times I am nearly word perfect. So if you are looking for a match don't buy this CD
Rent Karaoke.......2006-11-09
I thought this cd was very well done. However, the downfall is that those of us who are not familiar with Rent on Broadway are pretty much lost on a couple of tracks where it plays the broadway versions despite the fact the cd cover states it is from the movie. I was disappointed in this also because I had to learn the songs basically all over again. The only other problem is it is missing preferred songs, such as Tango Maureen and Another Day. Overall, this cd is wonderful and I enjoy it now that I've practiced. Lots of fun and great for rides in the car!

Reminiscences permeate the dozen diverse tracks that populate Everclear's fourth outing. The trio, spearheaded by writer/guitarist/producer Art Alexakis, looks back in myriad ways on Songs from an American Movie. Alexakis skillfully and sweetly addresses his recent divorce ("The Honeymoon Song," "Now That's It's Over"), musical heroes ("Otis Redding"), and childhood ("AM Radio"), frequently matching his words with suitably retro music. Although the only cover is a new-wave take on Van Morrison's "Brown Eyed Girl," familiar musical references abound. On "AM Radio," a brief sample of "Mr. Big Shot" sets the tone for funky flashback fun, while "The Honeymoon Song" is full of Brian Wilson inflections. Alexakis references his own "Everything to Everyone" in the title track, while "Otis Redding," "Unemployed Boyfriend," and "Wonderful" are more commercial alt-rock Everclear than homage Everclear. Alexakis set out to make a pop album, and while millennial teenagers have their own definition of "pop," for '70s-kid Alexakis, Songs from an American Movie serves as a summertime soundtrack to his thirtysomething life. --Katherine Turman
Customer Reviews:
4.5 stars, a near-perfect pop album.......2007-07-10
It's pretty rare that I pick up a mainstream pop album. I'm not knocking it, but my tastes tend to run more towards metal and classic rock. Anyway, I took a chance on Everclear's 2000 release Songs from an American Movie, Volume 1 - Learning How to Smile based on the strength of the radio hits Wonderful and A.M. Radio, and was surprised at just how much I enjoyed the album.
I was familiar with the band, but the material on this album definitely wasn't the alterna-rocking Everclear I remembered. This is a smart, well-crafted, upbeat pop album that despite what some other reviewers would have you believe actually contains little to no "filler". In fact, aside from the way too tranquil closing track Annabella's Song, the hit single Wonderful is probably the only song that I'm tired of hearing, and that's due more to radio fatigue than anything else. The album is crammed full of fantastic songs, but there are a few that really stand out. A.M. Radio is just a fun track, Now That It's Over is brilliant for having such a dark message in counterpoint to the beautiful music, and Unemployed Boyfriend is one of the better love songs I've heard in a long time. Everclear's version of Brown Eyed Girl is quite good as well.
It's a shame the band's follow-up album wasn't as good, or I might have become an Everclear fan. Still, I have to give the band credit for creating a near-perfect pop album that I find myself listening to on a regular basis seven years after its release. How often does that happen with most pop albums?
great songs.......2007-04-04
Don't pick up this album for the two catchy singles. There is a great rhythm to the rest of the songs. It tells a story moving from the glory ideal days to the bad times. I'm a big Everclear fan so I'm definitely biased but I found this album offered a lot more substance than just the two catchy songs.
Two tremendous singles...then...simply average........2006-08-26
OK, "AM Radio" and "Wonderful" are absolutely killer singles.
They are both catchy as hell, with crisp melodies (or what passes for melodies with Everclear...we're not talking range here) and funny/incisive lyrics.
They sound glorious either in your headphones or on your car radio...or if you're old school, actual speakers too.
"AM Radio" is a bouncy recall of the simple joys of the 70's, while "Wonderful" is a painful but liberating look at divorce from a child's point of view.
Of the two, the latter is the most impressive.
However, everything else on the album is forgettable. The cover of "Brown Eyed Girl" was NOT a good idea...
They created two great songs for their awesome greatest hits collection here, but that's it.
Sorry guys.
dont give up.......2006-06-24
this cd is very good, everclear is a great band and they display wonderful cd here for you guys to keep an open mind to. hear it and believe in it, its a special album to hear instantly. im hooked and will be for a long time, ive listned to them for ten years
A couple of catchy tunes, but mostly crap.......2005-07-12
The two singles from Songs, Vol. 1, that got the most radio play, Wonderful and AM Radio, got the most radio play for a reason. They're about the only decent tracks on the album. Wonderful isn't brilliant, but it's a catchy, well-constructed radio song. AM Radio is just fun, mostly because it samples Mr. Big Stuff.
Like other Everclear albums, the only good songs here are the ones that are easy to sing along to, and that's the only thing good about them. The rest of the tracks are mostly forgettable crap, with the possible exception of Unemployed Boyfriend, the only one that manages to capture some of the radio-friendliness of Wonderful. Brown Eyed Girl isn't bad, but you just don't cover Van Morrison. Had we never heard Van Morrison's original version, Everclear's might be much better.
Anyone who listens to this album can make a good case that Art Alexakis' vocal renderings are responsible for a lot of similar sounds that are so popular today, even more so than Blink 182, which Everclear preceded. Pop-punk bands like Simple Plan, Good Charlotte, and the several others that all sound alike may get their overall sound from a variety of sources, but their vocals are Alexakis turned up a few octaves and slightly more annoying. These bands, Everclear and Blink 182 included, don't really sing. They manipulate their voices to achieve a certain sound, but it's not singing.
And that's what this album is. It's packaged, played and produced to sound a certain way. Nothing really original, just crap that they know radio stations will play for suburban teenagers with money to spend on CDs.

Music from Humphrey Bogar Movies.......2007-06-27
I was disappointed. I thought I would be getting a CD of full length themes from his movies but the CD is exactly what it says. It is from the actual films, in sections and pieces. I can't say it was misrepresented so I guess I was at fault. But I am sorry I bought it.
Simply the original.......2007-06-19
As the previous reviewer rightly pointed out, these are the original recordings from the era the films were made. And yes, the sound is completely different from what we are used to hear when we are turning the CD player on: it's mono, it's partially unsteady and some of the pieces suddenly fade. BUT, it's the REAL thing and it transports the charms and the charisma, inherent to the original ONLY.
Those who prefer the flawless technical perfection of a re-recording better should save their money. But for those who love the movies and their genuine sound, should be perfectly pleased with this release.
not the stuff dreams are made of.......2007-01-03
most of the tracks on this cd are available elsewhere, but what prompts me to give this a low review is the quality of the recording. some of them sound like they were taped off of a tv set showing a warbly print. you can do better elsewhere.

Best soundtrack.......2007-02-19
I love this soundtrack! If I could get even a copy of it would be amazing. Disney really needs to re-release it again, the library doesnt even have it and they have almost all the disney soundtracks! I've always loved the music from this movie, but i never liked the movie till I watched it again now that I'm almost out of high school. I've totally fallen in love with it. It's a great teen/family movie and soundtrack
Should Be 6 Stars.......2006-04-27
This album has three of the most addicting songs I've ever heard: "I 2 I", "Stand Out", and "After Today". They're just those kinds of songs you can sing along to all day and never get tired of it. They're also great to listen to if you're feelin' down. I'd definitely recommend this soundtrack.
This is an outstanding soundtrack!.......2006-03-15
I really love this soundtrack. However, I didn't buy it because it was so expensive! I couldn't find it anywhere...that is until I went to Disney World! If you are in Disney World, you can find this soundtrack on Main Street for $15.98. When I found this out, the next time I went to Disney World (last week), I was sure to grab a copy! So Disney World is the best place to buy the CD. I thought I would pass the information along.
Money aside, I love this CD a lot! My favorites are "I2I" and "Stand Out." I highly recommend it!
This Soundtrack is great.......2006-02-12
I been looking for this soundtrack for over I am going to burn it on a CD so I do not have to pay 32 dollars for it
They should rerelease this album.......2005-03-19
Disney should seriously consider releasing this album in some kind of special edition package because I would totally buy it. I bought this album about a year ago on amazon used. It is the greatest soundtrack I have ever heard. Ever. reviewed by a 13 years old girl.
