Customer Reviews:
a breath of fresh air.......2006-01-31
I would go out and say that these guys are a better grind band than Cephalic. The music has a strange feel to it that is oddly original. They also have a good amount of Evil Dead samples and thats always a plus. For any fan of grind purchase this immediately you will be pleased.
"life ain't easy playing grind from da block".......2005-05-08
after reading the promo sticker on the front of "man made predator", which read "for fans of 50 cent, 2pac and Nasum", i knew that leng tch'e weren't going to be like the everyday grind band.
after an impressive debut "death by a thousand cuts" (which is actually what leng tch'e means) these crazy belgians return with "man made predator", which sounds absolutely fantastic. leng tch'e grind through 19 songs in a little over 29 minutes, which is the perfect length for a grind album this intense (or as they like to call it, razor grind). most songs run anywhere between 30 seconds to a little under 2 minutes, but 2 or 3 tracks do manage to go over three.
unlike nearly every metal band in existence today, leng tch'e add a lot of humor to their brand of grind. while this may turn some people away from this band, i found it to be a rather nice break from all the metalbands who take themselves too seriously and spend too much time on trying to look evil.
the music just shreds. Glen and Nicolas lay down some nice grinding riffs, but on many occassions throw in a catchy groove or a nice and heavy breakdown, and it sounds great. Sven (vocalist from aborted) takes a different role in leng tch'e and goes haywire on the drumset. it was surprising to hear him blast away, as he does lay down some nice blastbeats, and his doublebass sounds really thick and full, which just adds incredible intensity to the music. Sven also does some backup vocals in some of the songs, which is awesome. Steven's bass is usually lost in the chaos of guitars, so i can't really comment on his playing.
Isaac, the vocalist/lyricist is just insane. he switches from a nice low growl (which sounds similar to sven's) and a great high pitch scream, it sounds like he's getting tortured (check out the break in 'f*** off cuz i hate you all') and its just fantastic. his lyrics, while useless when listening to the album, do provide for a somewhat interesting read; attacking high school cliques, the rich, hippies, christians, racists, whiny rappers, and even goregrind bands.
the production is solid, but i think the drums could be turned down a little bit. occassionaly everything gets lost in sven's thundering double bass, but most of the time you won't even notice. overall this is a great grind album and a must for any grind fan, don't be surprised if leng tch'e breakout in the genre soon.
Grind from da hood?.......2005-01-17
I'm not sure if these guys were trying to be funny, but I didnt know Belguim people used the word "yall"... oh well. Beside that, you have one of the best grindcore/razorgrind cd's ever made. The album is just the perfect amount of time, the music is very brutal, all of the songs are memorable, good samples, and the vocalist has a great range. Check out anything from Willowtip Records... they have never ever failed to make an amazing album. Buy this.
