    This album is a huge disappointment because of Jimi Jamison's vocals. To say he had an "off night" is an understatement. Survivor is one of my four favorite bands and I've seen them in concert several times. I've never heard Jimi sound anything like this. He missed more notes than he hit. Surely there are other recorded concerts that could have been released as a live album. The rest of the album sounds fine. This concert was obviously in support of their Vital Signs album but I would like to hear a live album that has some songs from When Seconds Count and Too Hot To Sleep. Maybe the band can put something together from a concert supporting Reach. I am not aware of any other live CDs from Survivor - that is the only reason I can imagine purchasing this train wreck.

    "I Can't Hold Back?" This was one of their biggest hits and it was omitted from this CD. They certainly played this song at this show and it doesn't show up here. Most everything else is here from this show and it's nice to have live versions of them but "I Can't Hold Back" is a must. Come on guys...re-release this CD in with every song.

    I am a huge Survivor fan and can listen to the album cuts of Jimi Jameson's voice for hours on end, so I wish I could be as as forgiving as the previous reviewer. I'm a musician and know that most all of us will have bad performances, times when we count our lucky stars that no one was recording. Sadly much of this album sounds like one of those times. Frankly I'm shocked that this was released. The vocals are so bad I feel cheated even though I only paid $7 for it. The instrumental playing is excellent though.

    I like Survivor and have most of their cd's. This is a live cd, warts and all. I like it because of the honest performance, Jimi Jameson's voice is mostly great, but he occasionally hits a flat note or his voice cracks. I saw them in concert once and this reflects the show I saw, and liked, accurately. If you're a fan of live cd's and Survivor, you should like most of the performances here. Otherwise, buy the greatest hits.

    THIS IS A SLEAZY RECORD COMPANY TRICK TO STEAL YOUR MONEY.

    BMG record company has relased a whole series of "Extended Versions" CD's. They take some songs off of a previous released live albums and repackage it in a very deceptive way. The packaging is cheap and there are no liner notes, so you don't know the source of the music. If you are any kind of fan of the group, you probably already own the original live CD and then you get excited when you see this CD, buy and then find out you just wasted your money on something you already own.

    Also deceptive is the titles "Extended Versions". In most cases, these songs are just live versions that are about the same length as the original studio versions.

    Beware of anything from BMG Special Products. It is almost always repackaged music with deceptive packaging, with the sole purpose of stealing your money. If they were honest, they would include notes about the source material so you knew what you were getting.

    Listen to these other reviewers who say this is kind of a ripoff. It's just the King Biscuit Flower Hour live show in different order minus about two songs. I actually saw the POWER tour on two occasions in early 1987, and on this IN THE SPIRIT OF THINGS tour they don't seem to be playing as tightly or as good as they did on the previous tour. Still they are KANSAS, and they never seem to give a bad show, but still they could have been much better. They were so great on the POWER tour that's why I had to see them a few weeks later when they were playing about 90 miles away from me. Don't even bother with this waste of a live album, when you can have the extra two songs and the songs in the correct order on the KING BISCUIT offering. Like one of the other reviewers said, BMG is just trying to cash in a bit with this Encore Collection.

    Now don't get me wrong, I an a HUGE Kansas fan. But this album is a rip off! It's the King Biscuit Flower Hour album just re-ordered! Not a cool thing to do to Kansas fans. Looks like BMG was out to get some cash...

    Made in USA in 2000, Serial# 75517-45617-2, Playing Time 47:15

    This CD lifts tracks from the "King Biscuit Flower Hour" CD, and is missing 2 tracks: "Point Of Know Return", and an 11-minute version of "House On Fire", making this CD shorter by about 18 minutes.

    The album was recorded during the "In The Spirit Of Things" tour back in 1989, and features Ehart on drums, Greer on bass, Morse on guitar, Greg Robert on keyboards, Walsh on vocals, and Williams on guitar. Like most KBFH, the recording quality is impeccable. However, on this version, the tracks have been shuffled around, so some of the songs that originally segued into each other have sometimes been re-organized (why?).

    This is your only opportunity to hear live versions of "One Big Sky", "All I Wanted", "The Preacher", and the acoustic "T.O. Witcher".

    Unless you're on a very tight budget, go for the real thing: the KBFH version has liner notes, the tracks in the order in which they were originally performed, 2 extra tracks for a total CD playing time of 65:57. And I still don't understand why this series is called "Extended Versions"...

    If you already have the King Biscuit Hour CD that is Kansas recorded live in 1989, then you may want to stay away from this CD. It is the same concert, with the same songs as the KB Hour CD minus "Point of Know Return", and "House on Fire". If you do not have the KB hour CD, then you may be interested in getting this one. Along with the 2 missing tracks from the KB hour CD, it does not have the nice CD sleeve that the KB hour CD has, but if you are just into the music, this CD, if you don't have the other, is a great buy.

      While this cd could have been longer, it is worth it to hear the live renditions of songs made popular by Pat and
      her crack band. Though the cd is under 50 mins., it's a nice ride, culminating with a 10:16 minute version of
      In The Heat Of The Night that is worth the price of admission alone. I'm not familiar with any of their live albums
      other than this one, but plan on checking their other ones out. Personally, because of the price, I like to get these versions first, and then go on from there. I have Extended Versions of The Fabulous Thunderbirds and
      Humble Pie, and along with Benatar, all 3 have quality live recordings and can not complain about them at all.

      I purchased this CD after seeing here on Amazon. Since it had no track listing I had no idea what to expect. I had hoped it would be a collection of the 12" single versions of Benatar's hits. It was not. It is a collection of live versions of some of her work from her first three albums. Not that bad, but very misleading since most of the songs are not extended at all. It would have helped is there was listing of the tracks so that Amazon buyers would know what they were getting.

        I believe this is a live recording. However, the crowd noise seems dubbed. "Extended Versions" implies studio remixes - . Things could be worse. I could have paid shipping.

        I bought this album, assuming there might be some kind of remixes or such of songs. Instead, I found the album to be a bunch of live versions of the Tube's hits. As to whether each song is indeed longer live, when compared to the studio versions, I didn't check. And, overall, the songs aren't bad. Just don't expect the studio versions, take the album as a series of live cuts, and you'll get exactly what you expected...

        If you're a hard-core Tubes fan or do not have Tubes World Tour 2001, then I could see purchasing it. If you have TWT2001, this CD is basically the same, except for the song order. It appears to be cheaper than purchasing TWT2001 as of this writing.

        This release, part of BMG's Extended Versions series, is a repackaging of Alan Parsons' 1995 live CD. That CD contained 15 tracks whereas this 2004 release contains 10 tracks, as follows:

        2. Eye In The Sky
        3. The Raven
        4. Time
        5. Luciferama
        6. You're Gonna Get Your Fingers Burned
        7. Prime Time
        8. Limelight
        9. Don't Answer Me
        10. Standing On Higher Ground

        Unfortunately, as is the case with other releases from BMG's Extended Versions series, there is no information about the concert from which these tracks are taken, nor is there any information about the band members who contributed to this album. Serious fans of The Alan Parsons Project probably already own the 1995 live album but casual fans, for whom this CD was most likely created, will probably enjoy it as I did.

        My rating is closer to *** & 1/2.

        Fans of Survivor will enjoy this one. Taken from the Live in Japan video, this concert showcases the Vital Signs tour. Great sound quality and a good selection of songs including I'm not that man anymore, and Caught in the Game. Don't let the cheap packaging fool you, if you like Survivor with Jim Jamison then you definatly will want to add this to your collection.

        This is pretty much the exact same album as "A Long Days Night", the live album that was released about two years ago. Though the tunes are great in this one, you're kind of missing out on the packaging of Long Days Night. The value price of the CD is nice though. The CD makes no reference to the dates recorded, nor does it make any reference to the fact that it's already a published CD. The picture on the front of the CD isn't quite accurate either, as the band has gone through lineup changes several times over the years. Bottom line: cheap, good music, but there's a better version of this CD out there.
