Customer Reviews:
Truly Beautiful.......2004-05-05
This compilation is one of the most moving collections of music that I've heard. It's power are emotion are matched to such treasures as Pet Sounds. You may be initially turned off by the price but don't be. If purchased, this cd set will become a favorite, one that you will not grow tired of in time. I owned this cd and made the mistake of sharing it with a friend. Needless to say the cds were never returned. I searched for over a year to replace it. Unfortunately no one was stocking it. Its great to see that Amazon.com now has it in their catelogues. Buy it before it disappears forever!!!
Not for all Trance lovers. Only for die-hard Oakenfold fans........2004-01-29
This is very early Trance/Techno that is mixed well but not as well as some of Oakenfold's better works like Tranceport (his best CD to date) or Great Wall (His 2nd best).
This is more industrial club DJ music that is fast trance, with lots of very early beeps and beats. I would only recommend this one if you are a die-hard Oakenfold fan or if you want to listen to some fast trance with lots of fast drums. It does not really peak as much as his better CDs and certainly is devoid of the magic, but there is a DJ in the making here. This may have been good for its time but there is a lot better Oakenfold out there (and some worse ones!) when all is said and done.
This is very fast and early and not the best Oakenfold you can start with. I certainly recommend Tranceport over this one or Great Wall and prefer those CDs to this one but as you can see die-hard lovers of Oakenfold will rate this CD highly. I would not recommend starting here though.
The best blend of classical and electronica ever........2003-12-13
I was fortunate enough to get this first time around in the UK (The 2 disc version), where it failed to sell many copies on release unfortunately. But it is probbaly my most played album over the past few years.
The true talent of Oakenfold shines through here, as both a mixer and also as an ear for great music. The way the music flows from beautiful classical score to deep and thoughtful trance and back again has never been bettered. This is one of the few albums that I would say is beautiful, perfect for listening to in a darkened room or with your eyes closed.
I am even more impressed now as a number of these artists were not even household names in their own house at the time. The brilliant Astral Projection, Transa, Y Traxx and Man With No Name steal the show in my opinion but the album in quality from start to finish.
Disc 1 starts in chill out mode and regularly returns there in between some very cool sections of Goa and Trance.
Disc 2 is slightly harder overall but starts out with the achingly beautiful chimes of Zbigniew Preisner (Craven Leaves), quite possibly one of the most eerily beautiful tunes I've heard in a long long time.
Just out of inteest here is the full track listing (with artist).

Truely inspiring, I only wish that there were more like this. 5 out of 5 in any language.
I know I paid only £25 for this (about $25) at the time, but it really is worth the $48 or whatever it is these days. You will never regret it.
One of Oakie's Best by far!.......2003-07-23
This is my 6th addition to my ever growing Oakenfold collection and fuels my ambitions to keep it growing. Fluoro is rated at the top of my collection along with all other Oakie albums i've acquired. The Trance and Break Beats mixed with the Ambience gives this album a balanced fulfillment of what Oakenfold is capable of. I have yet to be disappointed. Five Stars!!!!
oakenfold at his best!!!.......2003-05-17
Paul Oakenfold is without question the most well known dj in the world and although, of late, his musical style has leaned heavily on euro-pop. This recording captures Oakenfold in his prime. The track listing is outstanding. The songs are quality through and through and they do not sound dated such as other compilations of the era. If you are a fan of this type of music, snatch this one up ASAP as it is now out of print. This one is even better than the revered Tranceport. Enjoy!! rock the vote :)

Album Description
After their collaboration on Anna, Swiss film director Pierre Koralnik and Serge Gainsbourg (along with Jean Claude Vannier) worked in 1970 on a legendary dark movie shot in New York. 'Cannabis' is a film mainly about, blood, sex and death. The soundtrack had never been reissued entirely since 1970. Comes with 8 more tracks of another soundtrack that Serge Gainsbourg did with Michel Colombier, 'Ce Sacre Grand Pere' which includes a cult duo of Gainsbourg with Michel Simon. Universal. Digipak. 2003.
Customer Reviews:
An Ocean of Joy.......2006-11-02
This is some soundtrack. If you want to feel a rush of joy listen to this. Let funky drums, killer bass, genius harpsicord, and perfectly executed screaming guitar overtake you. I hate wailing guitars but the way it is done here is flawless. When i listen to this i feel hope. Serge and Jean-Claude really did something here. The film was a flop but it left behind an ubscure little gem. I only gave this four stars because half the album is sort of filler soundtrack, but the other half is beyond belief.

Gracias a la Vida.......2007-02-07
This is the best of all Mercedes' albums, particularly with Mi Unicornio Azul, and Las Manos de Mi Madre.
An Authentic Voice of the Americas.......2007-01-18
My passions are jazz, blues, salsa, flamenco, East Indian and other world musics. My Spanish is lousy, but I love this womans voice and consider her one of the major artist and activist of the 20th Century. The power of her performances don't make understanding Spanish a prerequisite for enjoying Mercedes Sosa's artistry. She sings to the heart. If you do understand Spanish, all the better. You then get to indulge in the poetic tradition of Latin America via Milton Nascimento and Silvio Rodriguez among others. What's not to like?
I understand that there were times in her Argentine homeland when she sang on stages not knowing if she would shot for singing her truth and passion. Sometime it takes courage to sing.
Mercedes Sosa has selected such wonderful songs and the musicianship is of such high a quality that it all works at the highest level possible. If you are a lover of music, it would be hard not to completely enjoy this CD. Gracias a la Vida! THIS is the America I love!!!
A music for the ages, a music for life.......2003-11-09
A twist of fate would fill in the void that was left in the musical world and in the collective spirit of the Argentinian people, when a bare couple of weeks after the accidental death of tango's greatest, Carlos Gardel, Mercedes Sosa was born to bring joy and hope to the Argentinian people and the world at large.
There is not a soul on this planet (with a heart) who will not feel touched when listening to Mercedes Sosa. In particular, this compilation ("Thanks to Life") of works sung by "La Negra" will come in as a drop of healing water in these times of conflict. There is not a single song in this album that is not incredible, but "Corazon de Estudiante" (Heart of a Student), the title track (in a bresthtaking and heartfelt live rendition), "Yo Vengo a Ofrecer Mi Corazon" (from Argentina's rock maestro, Fito Paze), "Maria Maria" (translation from the Brazillian classic by Milton Nascimento) and "La Maza" (from the Cuban singer-songwriter Silvio Rodriguez) stand out as the best songs in this, one of her compilations which can be counted by the dozen these days.
Too unfortunate that the album is out of stock: my best advice to you is to grab a used copy when/if you are lucky to find one.
Mercedes Sosa THE SPANISH VOICE.......2003-07-15
She's the one of the best singers in the world. This strong argentinian will transfer you to another world with her sweet strong and powerful voice through this amazing songs! A MUST-HAVE ! Soft popular songs and also strong folk performances.
beautiful music.......2000-04-26
I had never heard of this CD when a friend gave it to me four years ago. I don't speak a word of Spanish, but I listened to it non-stop. One ugly day, I lost the CD and I was devastated because I couldn't find it anywhere. When I eventually found it, after forgetting about it for a couple of years, I put it on and it still is magnificent music. She sings so powerfully and so movingly. Buy this!

Easier then buying the singles separately.......2006-01-03
I just got this because where I live they don't sell it
It's a nice item to add to my Eminem collection
I must say the only bad part would have to be:
Since it was out in 2003, 2004+2005 tracks were cut off
But hey, It's easier buying those than his WHOLE career
Must-buy-everything fan or not, You should check it out
5/5+ stars would be my rating, I enjoyed it alot myself
Don't forget the bonuses, Not just singles:
A fold out (smaller) two sided poster
Em's version of 50 Cent's "Wanksta"
Enjoy it, There are sellers here who offer nice prices!
The Singles A.K.A. The Best Of Eminem.......2004-05-03
This is basically a best of Eminem album. Except it is in single release format. Which means there's 3-4 songs per CD with 1 or 2 videos (11 CDs in total) and some a cappellas and instrumentals mixed in. It's a nifty buy if you want to add to your Eminem collection. It's very rare to find. (Ironically I found 1 copy at Best Buy at $75) It has a couple studio versions of songs you cannot find no where else. Such as "Bump Heads" and "Wanksta (Eminem's Version)." The only thing I don't like is that they could've put this whole release on 2-3 CDs and marked it down to $30-$35. Because you're basically paying $75 for the 11 CDs and $2 per song. That's why I didn't give it 5 stars. All-in-all though, a nice buy if you willing to spend the money.
Only for Real Fans.......2004-04-24
it's good, but not that good. it doesn't include the single "Just Don't Give A F***" and also it doen't include al songs from the singles (at least not from all the import versions). It does include an unpublished cover of the song "Wanksta" From 50 Cent. If you're a real eminem fan, you can buy it. It beats ordering al the Import singles.
Rip-off.......2004-01-05
I had expected more from this set, but it's a joke. What's the deal with all of the CD's with only a couple of songs on them?? What a pain. Eminem is Thug music at it's finest, but this set is a rip off. Wait for the Greatest Hits cd--you'll be better off.
Tha single-master.......2003-12-29
This s*** is phat!!!
All the singles are good, and the bonus tracks like Renegade and bad influence is even better...
Its worth all the money!!!
With the instrumental versions can you use it like a kareoke cd...
Better thán all the s*** i rewieved..

Better than most all the ordinary FF soundtracks.......2007-01-24
First of all, people seem to be overly critical of the choir. They say that it sounds out of tune or whatever, but this is only because they were recorded live. In Advent: One-Winged Angel, the same choir sounds totally incredible. The choir itself isn't bad, it's the recording environment that was not so hot.
That said, I can say that this is a very impressive two CD set, even though several of the songs I don't recognize. The music is professionally composed and arranged, and just goes to show that Final Fantasy music is proffesional level. The only cons are the lesser sound quality of being recorded live and the MC tracks, which can get to be a bit long. The way they keep talking makes me really want to know what they're saying. My favorite pieces are:
1. One-Winged Angel: I do admit that the FFVII Reunion Tracks arrangement is better, but only because of the recording environment. This arrangement has a lot of cool new elements and an awesome sound. The only problems I see with this arrangement is the absent-minded microphone placement and a bit of background shuffling that is heard at one part. The shuffling is very quiet and you get used to it, but I'm just picky about these things. As for the microphone placement; whoever put one right next to the #%@$in' snare drum deproved the quality of the piece a bit much. The snare drum during the chorus is louder than any of the other parts, and the choir is already being a bit overpowered by the orchestra. This makes for a choral section that isn't heard well enough. Despite all these slight cons, however, this arrangement of the classic piece remains superb and awesome-sounding.
2. Liberi Fatali: Same choir rant as before. This arrangement doesn't sound quite as good as the original, but it's not really that different, it's still an incredible piece.
3. Melodies of Life: This arrangement is better, I think, than the original except for the singing. She sounded a lot more confident in the original. But aside from that, this song is a great classic.
4. Suteki Da Ne: The original was quite a bit better, both in sound quality and in the singing. Rikki was nervous during the performance, it is shown by her incessant breath-taking in the middle of phrases and low confidence in her voice. However, the instrumentation does sound nicely different in some spots, and Rikki's singing is still beautiful.
This album is a must-have for any FF freak, and is better than most all the ordinary FF soundtracks. Don't miss it.
I love this CD........2004-02-23
Firstly, Mr. Gibbs -- why would anybody buy this if they haven't played Final Fantasy games?
Secondly, this is an amazing CD. With the exception of One-Winged Angel, every track on this CD is (in my opinion) the best orchestral version of these songs ever done. And this is coming from somebody who owns Celtic Moon, Grand Finale, Fithos Lusec, and a smattering of Orchestral Game Concert CDs.
Do yourself a favor and buy this CD. It really is excellent.
For those who wanna get their FF orchestra groove on..........2004-02-20
Final Fantasy 20020220 is worth buying. It is a great CD to listen to if you want to hear orchestrated versions performed live, mistakes and all. That said, let me point out everything that is wrong with the performances, and why I did not give 20020220 a 5/5. As partial as I am to Final Fantasy music, I must criticize the singing in this performance. In both tracks that featured a choir (Liberi Fatali and One Winged Angel) it seemed like everyone was trying to outsing each other, the tenors in particular would sing awfully loud, while everyone else was drowned out. The soloists RIKKI and Emiko Shiratori did a fabulous job, in my opinon. Others said that they sounded nervous, I do not agree. The actual performance by the orchestra was brilliant. I especially liked Liberi Fatali, One Winged Angel, and Vamo' Alla Flamenco. I wish I could speak Japanese, because 8 of the 25 tracks on the 2 disc set are nothing but the concert MCs talking about stuff. All in all I would like to restate that FF20020220 is worth buying, but maybe you should play some of the FF games to hear these songs before you listen to the orchestra version, all the more to appreciate this masterpiece.
The Fantasy Continues..........2003-06-10
Nobuo Uematsu truly holds true to the Final Fantasy music legacy he himself set down beginning with the Final Fantasy Symphonic Suite CDs. Although I do have a few complaints, my overall take on this album is extremely positive. I'd say my favourite renditions on this CD are "Vamo' Alla Flamenco", lush, rich arrangement for orchestra (which truly is the greatest symphonic rendering I've seen from almost any game composer [thanks to Shiro Hamaguchi]) and the brass-graced Final Fantasy VI's "Terra" / "Tina" (which almost lives up to the Grand Finale version). Basically, every single song on these two CDs were mind-blowing with the exceptions of the two most crucial ones, "Liberi Fatali" and "One-Winged Angel". Okay, fine... I've got to give credit where credit is due, Liberi Fatali isn't THAT bad. It falters near the end though, but the primary complaint isn't the symphonic elements (or even the annoying snare [?] drum... *grrr*), but rather the supposed choir they assigned. Not very harmonic or in-tune, but I still give it 4-stars.
To sum it all up, all very nice arrangements with those little differences which make it all the more enjoyable. Cons? The choir voices and the MC segments (I don't speak Japanese, so my apologies if you do and find them entertaining).
One of the Best (non OST) Final Fantasy works.......2003-02-19
There hasn't been a live CD since the ill-fated "Symphonic Suite" many years ago and now there is this - quite simply put a live version of some of the best Final Fantasy songs. The Tokyo Philharmonic is on every beat and adds alittle more to the Final Fantasy melodies. The MC's get annoying and their Japanese is very hard to understand. The choice of songs was superb yet there is no "live feel" as most of the songs are played just as you would have heard them on another Final Fantasy CD. All in all, this is one of the best and one can easily see by some of its few flaws to its real beauty - the epitome of Nobuo Uematsu's Final Fantasy work.

One of the all-time best!.......2001-06-24
I grew up on the Beatles and knew some groups before them and most all groups after them. MB20 and "Real World" rank up with the best of them. This song is one to really touch the soul. I especially enjoy it while doing a heavy exercise class--feeling great and hearing this song on top of it makes for a special experience. "Real World" is a Real Song by Real People.
Its worth the money if ya have a cd burner or want a poster.......2001-01-14
Actually, Its worth it for me because i am one of the biggest mb20 fans in the world. +, like I said, you can add the bonus songs, acoustic live versions of "Long Day" and "3am" to an mb20 compilation, and comes with a free small poster. "Real World" is not one of mb20's greatest songs however, so i didn't give this cd a "5". Your money is better spent on "Bent" or "If You're Gone", which are better songs, with better live tracks on the singles.
What a Song!.......2000-07-26
This is such a great song. I recommend this CD.
I love this song.......1999-04-19
I'm not sure why. It's not that original. But the enthusiasm of the band for their music comes through. What does it mean? It means, "Let's go out and sing a song." That's what current music is all about. If you want meaning, listen to some real music, like Mozart or Beethoven. But if you want some fun music to listen to, get this.
Awesome song!.......1999-04-06
"Real World" definitely lives up to its name. It is a song which links its lyrics to everyday life. The listeners can really relate to it. It is a nice song to relax to at the end of a hard day.
