5 out of 5 stars My favorite Libana CD..........2002-07-09

I've been into Libana for over 10 years, and this is by far my favorite, even surpassing "A Circle is Cast." The songs are easy to chant/sing along to and are life/earth affirming, rhythmic and soothing. I particularly am fond of Treeplanter's Round, Con el Viento, Lullaby, Ode to Contentment, Now I Walk in Beauty, and most especially, Be Like a Bird. Even my husband has begun to appreciate Libana through this CD, which is a real breakthrough.

3 out of 5 stars A Little Better Than A Circle Is Cast.......2002-06-05

Just like their other album, it includes songs about the Judeo-Christian Deity. If I wanted that I'd buy one of the countless albums about Jesus! And like A Circle Is Cast the songs are too short and somewhat hard to understand.

To be honest, Libana kind of reminds me of Enya who I'm also not crazy about.

5 out of 5 stars Uplifting, singable music.......2002-03-12

I bought the cassette maybe ten years ago and fell in love. There is a guided meditation, some great circle chants and even a girl scout campfire song! Feminine without being offensively feminist, and somehow delivering the feeling of being very personal. I wish I understood the Spanish: Con El Viento is lovely. Music translates well into other philosophies (some come from other philosophies). Buy it, you'll like it!

5 out of 5 stars Fire Within.......2001-11-24

Some of the songs are great for meditatng

5 out of 5 stars Looking For a while to find this again!.......2000-05-02

I Came to this site just to find this. The Chants in this CD are addictive. I was given this as a gift years ago. My daughter needs music to get up in the morning and has mood disorders: I am getting this CD after knowing its postive effects on my son ten years ago. We also played it alot in the car, it seems to keep the chilren calm and they learn its lyrics which are life/soul focused. This is alot healthier stuff than turning on your local radio station for a child.

4 out of 5 stars "There comes a time to close your eyes to what is real".......2006-11-16

There are very few moments on this album that rise above the mid-tempo range, whereas the songcraft relies heavily on arrangements and the often dazzling vocals of Danny Cecati. His control is excellent while some of his sustained vocals are impressively long and expressive and is the main reason I keep returning to this album. In fact, he is the brightest highlight on a very strong recording. "Two Souls Apart" shows off his talents with emotion and power all the while the band interplay, while not especially amazing is otherwise solid and frequently high quality. When "Illumination Fades" hits with its insanely catchy stop/start guitar riffs beneath Danny's already established vocals is when this band truly shines, with a tasteful guitar solo as added polish. "Where Clouds Divide" continues on the same mid-tempo path where the songcraft is more important than speed riffing and/or meth-induced double-bass drumming. This is wherein my primary complaint lies. Every now and again a song slows down too much or the arrangements become sparse to the point of becoming slightly boring, making the vocals carry the song exclusively. But the arrangements can also be fairly interesting, though not all that original, such as piano interludes or string sections. But there are plenty of hooks, as well, such as on "Dawn (a new beginning)" with its catchy guitar-work and fluid tempo-shifts making it one of the strongest tracks on the album. "While The World Sleeps, pt.1 Dreams" is actually pretty until the guitars increase in presence and remind me that this is actually a Progressive Metal creation. "While The World Sleeps, pt.2 Altered Visions" seemlessly continues the epic soundscape with a balladesque intro before turning Progressive and up-tempo where Eyefear are clearly at their best, continuing to showcase the talent of their lead vocalist throughout. "The Script Of Sorrowed Tales" is the fastest song yet with plenty of Progressive-style guitar riffs and a couple of guitar solos that are once again laced into the song structure rather than exercises in egomaniacal bombast. While "Vivid Window" is an acceptable ballad, Danny Cecati's vocals help elevate an otherwise unremarkable song. This is easily the weakest track on the album. But then "Beyond Twilight" picks things up again to finish the album with a flourish. All in all, the good production and intelligent songcraft are enough for me to recommend this CD to fans of mid-tempo Progressive Metal who enjoy quality vocals and thoughtfully arranged song structures. Eyefear are definitely a band to look for in the future. Thank you.

5 out of 5 stars ROCK REPORT says............2005-12-19

Progressive metal fanatics will definitely spend some pleasurable hours with this release, which is blessed with an above average production thanks to producer Endel Rivers (Vanishing Point, Black Majesty) and the mixing duties of Andy LaRocque (King Diamond, Evergrey)

5 out of 5 stars Melodic Prog Metal at its Best.......2005-03-04

Every once in a while an album comes along and takes you by storm. It's not necessarily the most groundbreaking or an unusually original record, but it has this certain quality to it that directly speaks to you and occupies your stereo/discman for a good many weeks - non-stop!

Eyefear's 9 Elements of Inner Vision is that kind of an album. I'd never heard of this band until this CD of theirs came out, and was quite surprised that it was actually their sophomore release. It turned out they had already released their first one in 1996; so they're no newcomers. 9 Elements of Inner Vision, however, is what put them on the map, possibly because of their new line-up, especially singer Danny Cecati (ex-Pegazus). Cecati is an unbelievably amazing vocalist; he can scream like there's no tomorrow and deliver heart-wrenchingly emotional tunes. I haven't heard this band's debut, but I'd bet that it sounds completely different from 9 Elements, since this is one of those albums heavily characterized by bands' lead singers. At first, Danny Cecati reminded me of former Steel Prophet vocalist Rick Mythiasin's style on the debut album of Redemption. Sort of like an aggressive power metal vocalist singing for a melodic progressive band. On the other hand, his phrasing is more in the lines of Roy Khan (ex-Conception, Kamelot) and perhaps the lead singer of Pagan's Mind. If you've heard any of these guys, you can bet that Cecati possesses a killer voice that you will most probably be impressed with. Check out the killer scream at the end of track two, "Two Souls Apart". The other song, "Where Clouds Divide" is even scarier. It opens with emotional vocals that quickly turn into a powerful falsetto scream right off the bat. His slower singing is even more amazing. There are two ballads here with great piano work and intense vocal harmonies.

The music also has certain reference points. I was immediately forced to think of Eternity X's The Edge album when I heard the first couple of tracks on this disc - the groovy bass, in particular. Guitarist and main songwriter, Kosta Papazoglou, plays extremely crunchy rhythms over delicately woven keyboard arrangements. The contrast is most likely going to appeal to fans of Evergrey. The dark tone of the music, lyrics and even artwork are going to add to it. I was pleasantly surprised to find out in the booklet that Andy LaRocque had mixed the album. Since LaRocque mixed my favourite Evergrey album, In Search of Truth, as well, and Eyefear members being big fans of the band, I believe this disc may garner tons of fans, provided that it reaches the right audience. I've heard other people comparing Eyefear to bands like Vanishing Point, which I agree with whole-heartedly (producer Endell Rivers has worked with both bands), and some others, including Control Denied, Conception, Vanden Plas, and Ark. I seem to detect some Pagan's Mind like arrangements here, which is a big plus, given that Celestial Entrance is one of the most brilliantly produced prog metal discs, ever.

Back to Eyefear. Their brand of music could be labeled melodic prog metal with various time signatures, alternating between wicked vocals and guitar runs with shifts of mood and colour. The guitar solos here are no doubt going to please fans of Symphony X. What I particularly like about this disc is that there isn't a single overplayed riff for the sake of showing off. Keyboardist Sammy Giaccotto's melodies are soft, yet sparse and they are laid over the music like a thick blanket. The drumming is more direct and not as complex as some other prog bands out there. Its directness and double bass drum use may also appeal to fans of power metal, but I'd hardly call Eyefear "power-prog". I've always hated that term anyway; besides, the music presented on this disc is certainly progressive in style. One little complaint could be made about the packaging; on the back of the CD sleeve it says there are 10 tracks on this album, while there are only 9. Mattias Noren's artwork and layout is fantastic. I can pretty much tell his work by heart now, cause he's really developing a distinctive style. I've been listening to this disc for nearly two months now, and repeated listens have revealed that the songs on this disc are a tad same-y, i.e. not as ultra-diverse as Eternity X's The Edge (then, what is as diverse as The Edge anyway?). But I'm not complaining; this is one of the greatest bands I've discovered recently and I can see many others enjoying them as much, if not more.

1 out of 5 stars why oh why?.......2003-03-06

The first Phenomena album was a different and very interesting project. The follow up ("Dream runner") was alright, but the third time around ("Inner vision") things hit rock bottom. It's hard to believe that there's anything in common with the first release, and "Inner vision" lacks everything from inspiration to writing skills. This was also the end for the project, a very good decision! Remember that I have warned you about this one!

Just out of curiousity - how can an unknown singer be under rated?

5 out of 5 stars One Great Album, Unfortunately went un-Noticed.......2002-07-22

You have here members "21 guns", Scott Gorham, and Leaf Johnson, Then mixed with the talent of Brian May on guitars, surprisingly has combined for an awesome album. If you liked 21 guns's debut "Salute" you'll love this. This is a must for any Melodic Rock fan (Retro-Rock, 80's sound). I have ths on CD and listen to it in the car almost 2-3 times a week. The whole album is a worthy listen. I've been a fan of Melodic Rock since Def Leppards "Pyromania", and Van Halens Self title and I'm always on the search for new versions of this Glam style sound. The quality of the music is so high it's truly hard to believe this never received any air time. I don't believe they even had a Video.

5 out of 5 stars Searching for number three.......2001-11-19

This album brings together the talents of Scott Gorham(ex Thin Lizzy) and Queen guitarist Brian May. Any one who bought the first two albums should love this one. I thought the vocalist Keith Murrel who I had never heard of, is one of the most underrated singers of the Time. A great album !!!!
