          I'm not going to waste much time with this review and I think I can sum it all up with this "It is obvious Jeff Lynne made these guys what they WERE". Without Lynne.......Ahem....NOT GOOD!

          4 out of 5 stars Summer job soundtrack.......2004-07-01

          I found the songs that were on the Summer job soundtrack, that are on this CD to be inspiring, I lost A lot of weight just like the character in the story. The music is energenic(good for exercising too?) and well just beautiful. If you haven't seen the movie you have no idea what I am talking about but even if you don't see the movie buy this CD you may find yourself inspired as well.

          This CD marks the beginning of a new ELO in the works. After the breakup of the original ELO, a few of the band members rejoined to form OrKestra. The familiar ELO sound was given new life again with the creation of OrKestra. With Jeff Lynne's voice missing and his song writing no longer present, the sound is somewhat different from the original ELO. The OrKestra band members were the backbone of the popular ELO in the late 70's. Without their musical talent its likely ELO would have never made it big in the late 70's. The songs on this CD are fool of life, energetic and most are very positive.

          The first song "Dirty Old Town" is a really nice song that makes you feel good. The song "Beyond The Dream" is also very good. The version of "Roll Over Beethoven" on this CD is the best one ever made. These guys really ROCK. "Rock & Roll Fever" is a very catchy rock and roll tune. While the cream of the crop is the song "Sea Of Dreams". This is a really beautiful song that is worth the price of the whole CD.

          Thos of us that have bought ZOOM and were very disappointed with the new ELO will find the purchase of this once rare OrKestra CD to be very satisfying. I highly recommend this CD.

          A number of songs are just plain generic, but a few catchy tunes like "Dirty Old Town" and "Rock and Roll Fever" may make this one worth getting for fans of ELO Part 2.

          "Beyond the Dream" and "Sea of Dreams" come across as experimental cuts and frankly, I wish this was the direction Kelly Groucutt and Mik Kaminski had stuck with, instead of playing it safe with standardized pop. But I'll take what I can get.
