I wasn't expecting to have 4 discs for this price, and the music is a quality selection of film music, giving a good scope of the genre, and a very listenable transfer.

This collection is bound to capture your heart and evoke a tin ear on successive tracks. I found much to like and some duds - easy to skip over.

For the price, this CD is a great bargain. The musical selections, as you might expect, are mixed in quality ranging from extraordinary to so so, the balance being worthwhile and interesting. Sonically the CD is excellent.

I have been listening to great scores for many years and this collection is truly inspirational in so far as the choice of different scores takes you on a journey of listening pleasure matched by only a few collections.The price is incredibly reasonable for hours of listening pleasure.     Chain of Strength were not even that great at the time. They were dismissed by many (some zines refered to them as looking like 'new kids on the block' (remember them?)) Yeh the music was intense, yeh true till death is still a classic but they were nothing new even back then.

    Buy it if you must, but your only buying it for true till death.

    True till death? These guys weren't, but who is? It's a good thing that the music still holds up... otherwise this wouldn't even be in print. Get this if you like good, old fashioned, Southern California HxCx.

    The low score is not for the band itself. Chain of Strength is one of my favorite late 80s hardcore bands. The low score is for this release. Revelation, for some odd reason, felt it necessary to HEAVILY remix the original tracks off the two 7inches. The mixing of the songs off of "what holds us apart" are not completely horrible, but the "true till death" tracks do sound really bad. Not only that, but some of the intros off of the "true till death" 7inch songs have been completely cut off.
    Pretty much the only reason to buy this is to have their unreleased song "impact" which is quite good. Other than that, track down the original 7inches, or download them from somewhere. Just look for the names of the 7inches as the album names, instead of this garbage.

    So yea, what's there to say about Chain of Strength? They have integrity, conviction, honor and every other stereotypical hardcore thing to say about a band you respect. Putting aside traditional thinkings, The One Thing That Still Holds True is a great album that surpassed other youth crew acts at the time. Instead of focusing purely on circle pits and crowd calls, Chain mixes things up with slow breaks, and melodic passages..All i can say is listen to "Too Deep Until Now" and you will know why they were something special.

    I am a music lover. I love music. I don't listen to punk rock - anymore. I used to immerse myself in punk culture and lifestyle. Eventually punk wasn't about cause and effect, which made me disheartened. I guess maybe I was not punk enough to stick it out and keep the scene alive. Still, I look back to my punk rock roots and remember some of the bands that played with real passion. Chain of Strength is one of those bands. One thing that still holds true is a very raw album. If you ever want to reminisce back to the days when punk was punk - pick it up soak it all in my friends. You won't be dissappointed.

    This was such an amazing movie. I've been searching for the soundtrack for a long time. While the musical score is beautiful, I too was disappointed to discover that Bette Midler's wonderful song was nowhere to be found on it.

    I wanted to come to the defence of the Bette Midler song "My One True Friend". I think it is a beautiful song and it certainly brings out the chill bumps for me! The writers have a first class pedigree being Carole King, Carole Bayer Sager (who has written smashes with Burt Bacharach) and David Foster. This song definitely should have been on the soundtrack album.

    No score can describe the heart of human loss and nature than the music to this film, which I've listened to more times than having seen the film. It truly evokes inner feelings too difficult to openly express in times of peril and heartache. It is soft and gentle, just like the tone of the film, as well as the atmosphere in a house when someone or something that means a lot is threatened to be mercilessly taken away. Truly the Academy doesn't know a genuine film score when they hear it.

    I enjoyed this cd thoroughly. Melanie's voice is amazing and the band itself is really great aswell. I bought this cd right after it came out in 2004 and I still enjoy listening to it quite often. It's definitely worth the money, that's for sure.

    Many of you might know the female vocalist of this band from the song "autumns monologue" or "short stories with tragic endings" from the From Autumn To Ashes albums. Melanie has a fantastic voice and the music and very well written and rocks with a poppy catch. Kind of has an early 90's rock vibe to it, kind of like Sonic Youth and the likes. I recommend going to purevolume and checking out some songs.
