This is such an awesome CD. My friend bought it not knowing anything about them and it turned out to be totally worth it. Soudns almost like Garbage but better. Summer Rose (lead singer) has the most amazing voice, and the lyrics are deep. Gotta love it. I hope they put out another album....

Saw them live, bought their cd...rock'n music, in the spirit of Garbage, with a sense of humor, great lyrics...surprised i haven't heard them on the radio or seen them on MTV...very cool energy. Good luck!!
Snap, Crackle, and ROCK!!.......2001-08-25
This CD is AMAZING!!! I don't know where the blonde bombshell lead singer came from, but the music industry better watch out -- she ROCKS!!! Every tune on this album makes you wanna shake your groove thang. I can't wait to see them live!!!
This Rocks!!.......2001-08-23
The lead singer of this band, Summer, is the modern Pat Benetar/Stevie Nicks. She has an incredible voice and the music to match. This is a great album and I would recommend it to anyone and everyone!!

This cd is really good, but they're even better live. Two of the songs have uninspired lyrics but the music sticks with you. Apparently they're brand new and if this is just their first effort, their next album is going to be unbelievable.

Gong - 'Family Jewels' (Outer Music) 2-CD.......2005-01-16
Total of 22 tracks with a running time of slightly under 100 minutes.'Family Jewels' contains some Gong 'live' material,but there should've been more.Too many odd ball cuts and Gong spin-off band's songs here.Disc one is decent,disc two runs thin awfully quick.Although 'Family...' does have it's moments,it's basically for Gong completists.If another label EVER does decide to reissue this title,some friendly advise:put 'Family Jewels' out as a single-disc pressing and then assemble approx. 70 minutes of this 2-CD package onto that CD.It would be a lot easier to listen to.
Gong family sampler.......2004-08-24
This is a 2 CD set that contains solo material from some of the members of the more recent incarnations of Gong, plus some live Gong material. Each CD is just under 50 minutes long.
There is some great music on this set, but it is not an essential album. Except for the live Gong tracks, all of this music is available on other CD's. The live Gong tracks are nothing special (it has all been covered before many times, on many different live Gong albums). If they are making a collection album, why couldn't they include more material and make each CD 70 minutes long?
The album contains material from members of Gong during the 1990's: Didier Malhabre, Daevid Allen and Gilli Smyth (who have always been in Gong), along with Steffe Sharpstrings, Pierre Moerlen and Mike Howlett. There is nothing from older members like Steve Hillage or Tim Blake.
It is a nice sampler and it does give you an indication of what other albums you might want to buy. The material by Didier Malharbe is especially good, and I will be seeking out CD's by him. Pierre Moerlen does a very nice version of Zappa's Little House I Used to Live In. Steffe Sharpstring's material is uneven and I am not sure I would buy anything by him. As always, Gilli Smyth is the Yoko Ono of Gong and an acquired taste.
Overall, this is a pleasant set. The flow of the music is very good, especially at the end of the second CD with live and studio material seamlessly edited together. The first CD is more rocking/spacy music, while the second CD is more laid back music. Just on the music alone, this would be a 4 star disc. But, since most of the music and be had elsewhere and since, for a sampler disc, it is so short, I give it 2 stars.

Attention all PHP's! For any who aren't sure of what has ben going on with the Gong family, here is a way to catch up. There are pieces from Didier's albums, a contribution from Mike Howlett, a couple of really nice Daevid poeces from Australia aquaria and Stroking the Tail, a track fro Pip Pyle and some Stefi Sharpstring guitar breaks from Live Shows. Do GAS and Gong family members a favour and buy this, you won't be let down :-)
